Description
Hard team to play against IMO and could be better than last year if they get good goaltending.

If the Canadian teams have their own taxi B squads that are always with the big clubs as has been rumoured. It wouldnt be a big deal to send those 3 salaries down as they wont get claimed. If Ferland cant play after training camp that makes it easy to ice a full roster with his LTIR space..

The other option is if Lind or Hoglander show they can make the team Hawryluk is sent down. Or if Rathbone beats out Juolevi or Rafferty that change can be made.

Buying out Sutter would be a mistake. Waiving him or Roussel is the better option to not incur a cap hit next year.

I think Moving Louie with a 1st would be a mistake as well. Would rather buy him out after this year and keep our assets.

Not bad, looks decent. I 100% agree that any buyout is the wrong play here, as is trading Loui with a "sweetener". I'd even argue against buying out Loui next year, there'll be next to no difference in cap savings vs waiving him next year and you save cap hit the year after. I also wouldn't have Jake on the top line, my 2 cents

I agree Boeser is the better option on line 1, but I dont think Jake is responsible enough defensively to play line 2. And I like that bottom 6 setup, two hardworking lines of which I dont think anyone deserves to be in the top 6 over Jake. So for me Jake gets the line 1 spot by default in a way.

Louie buyout saves 1M the following year but adds 1M the year after when Luongos penalty is off the books along with Beagle and Roussel. Depends on if theyre in a position where they need that money or not I guess.

Well if you don't think Jake is responsible enough to be on your 2nd line then he would have to slot in on the 3rd, Jake is not and never will be a top line player. Based on your roster I'd re-organize the entire right side to that it would look like: 1st - Boeser, 2nd - Motte, 3rd - Virtanen, 4th - MacEwen. Motte showed enough in the playoffs that he has more potential then a 3rd/4th line checker/grinder and PKer, give him a chance at an expanded role on the 2nd with BO and Pearson and see what happens. If it doesn't work then there are other options. I just don't see Jake being a fit with Miller and Petty and benefiting their games.

Louie buyout saves 1M the following year but adds 1M the year after

Waiving him in 21-22 saves 1.12M with no cap hit in 22-23 vs the 2M savings from a buyout in 21-22 plus the 1M cap hit in 22-23. If he spends the entire year in the minors this year and is told that he will do the same next year, hopefully he will agree to terminate his contract!
