This 2020-21 Canucks roster is salary cap compliant and includes most of the club's UFAs and RFAs on ideal contracts. However, to be salary cap compliant the team will need to bury Jordie Benn, Brandon Sutter, and Loui Eriksson in the minors, and let Tyler Toffoli walk in free agency. To retain both Chris Tanev and Jacob Markstrom on ideal AAV and term, the Canucks will need to also offer NMC to the players. This means that the Canucks will commit to keeping Markstrom over Demko in the expansion draft and may trade Demko to recoup picks in the 2020 draft, or to move out dead contracts. A bonus overage of 1.7 Million has been added to the team under the IR section due to player bonuses from the 2019-20 season causing the Canucks to exceed the cap. If players who have been buried in the minors are recalled on an emergency basis, the Canucks can maintain a salary cap compliant 23 man roster.
