...years later as Pronger goes on LTIR, and helps clear space to sign Shatty and Mika. Glass for Schenn helps Coyotes get money off their books a year earlier. Lindberg is comp for taking on salary (can sweeten with low pick or different ptospect). Giving up Zucc hurts, but needs to be done to land Trouba. AV wishes McIlrath well in his return home to Winnipeg. Sign Trouba to a Kreider-ish deal, allowing him to become UFA at 26, with another big contract available to him.

Would suggest trading Klein and Fast to get something for them before draft, but figure more of deadline deal.

Why would Arizona do this? Pronger costs them like 200k and gives them more than 4mil on the cap. They are a budget team not a cap team.

And the Winnipeg trade is even worse Mcilrath is worth less than Lemieux and Zucc is not even close to being worth Trouba!

As a budget team, I' m sure the can appreciate when actual salary is less than cap hit, as they're trying to reach the floor, right? G's contact dips below 4M with retention, even with the larger cap hit. He's also a good locker room guy. They dump 2 years of Schenn for 1 of Glass. If they bury Glass, they can get even more savings if need be. They get another young RFA in Lindberg for the swap. My understanding is that they would not be compelled to protect him if he's waived his NMC in the deal.
