Description

Hudler is certainly an interesting signing, as it shakes things up a bit. Dallas had originally planned to carry 8D, but this may require Lindell starting in the AHL or risk exposing someone to waivers like Cracknell/Ritchie/Oleksiak. Nill has stated he wants additional depth due to the compressed schedule from the World Cup, so Lindell starting in the AHL seems more likely, but you never know. A trade could also be an option, as the C depth is creating unique line combinations. Coaches have options, but believe if a G upgrade could be found it might make sense to trade a position of strength to improve a position of opportunity. Also increases the competition in camp, young guys are going to have to work that much harder for those coveted lineup spots. Can't wait for the season, lots of storylines to play out.

I do agree Val at his best should be playing up in the lineup, as well as that Eakin is more of a 3/4 C than 1C. I drew this up based on last year's usages. The 3rd line of Roussel/Faksa/Hemsky really clicked well at the end of the season, I believe Ruff will keep them together. This will likely force Eakin to 1C, and move Seguin to RW. Val is likely a better option than Hudler at 2RW, but I believe Hudler was lured with the understanding of being in the Top6 and therefore will at least start there. The rest just fills in around these slots. Play will dictate these things, and Ruff is not known for keeping lines together long. This is also barring any further player movement, which I don't anticipate a lot, but camp could dictate additional changes. Bottom Line - October can't get here fast enough -
