6 months ago, cap was going up players were waiting to squeeze that extra money...... then everything changed. A stagnant cap means millions lost in potential salary for players and even the possibility of departures from the team.
5. Adam Gaudette - He played himself onto the team at this seasons camp, know he can cement his position with a strong "playoffs" this year. I've seen him listed at everyting from $3 mill to the lower 1 mill mark. He is may darkhorse player for the Canucks this event, if he shows he can put points on the board in this setting his value skyrockets.
4. Jake vs MacEwan - This one is exiting for me, the future of the Canucks only has 1 of these guys on the list. MAcEwan needs to prove he can stay and Jake needs to prove he can switch into a more professional mind set or play so well it doesn't matter how he acts.
3. The race for next years 3rd line left shot D. Benn needs to hold of Olli and Rathborne a poor showing by Benn means the spot is wide open.
2. Markstrum - He is going to lose potential money, had he signed earlier in the season he was looking probably between 5.5 to 6 mill. Now he could be around 5 to 5.5 but add a poor showing in the playoffs and the discussion will return to the goalie postion. Do you sign him? Long term? Or do you trade him for some support and let Demko take his shot.
1. Brock - I like Brock. This is hes first real chance to put himself in a larger contract conversation. Right now hes looking around Tyler Toffili level (which isn't bad) but if he wants stop the trade rumours and earn himself some extra money ... goals goals...goals will look really nice on his resume
