Description
I'm getting antsy waiting for the season to start, so this is just to kill some time. Dallas could use some help on the back-end and in their bottom-six, while Hemsky is an UFA the Stars probably wouldn't bring back after this season (at least not at his current cap hit). The Flyers could try Hemsky as the scoring winger they desperately need.

Whilst parting with Read's positive metrics and PK ability will sting, parting with his salary (even reduced) will not. Streit is UFA at season's end, and he too would not be re-signed by his current team.

Not terrible. relieves the cap crunch, this year particularly. I'm more ok with moving Read because i think you could fill his bottom 6 role with someone fairly easily.
However unless you get something of value for him, i'd rather keep Streit until the trade deadline....veteran D men on expiring contracts usually net teams some pretty good returns.

Thanks for the feedback, man. ~I'm a Matt Read fan, but he's an asset (because of his positive fancy stats) they can consider moving to make room for younger/cheaper talent coming through their pipeline (...looking at you Travis Konecny). What do you think they can get for Streit? I'm wondering how valuable a 38yr old defenseman, coming off a gross injury (that he will never be 100% after) can command in return. He's like a Kimmo-lite.

I think if Streit has a solid first half and Flyers want to move him at the deadline maybe they get a similar deal to the Kimo deal....2nd round pick and a conditional pick based on how far the team goes and how much Streit plays. If they move him before the season they'll probably have to eat half his salary and might not get much in return
