The Avs biggest task this summer is to extend Mikko Rantanen.
Coming off an 87pts career high, I think Rantanen gets $10m x 5-6 years depending on what Marner signs for as the dominos will fall when he signs.
The Avs have plenty of space so a long-term deal isn't out of the question.
As for the forward group,
new additions in Burakovsky, Donskoi and Kadri will look to make their mark on the Avs.
Sakic also took a risk on Nichuskin hoping he can finally bounce back. I think they're going to try to play nichuskin often in the early parts of the season to see where they stand with him.
on D,
Ian cole is still recovering from dual hip surgery.
Makar and Girard will look to step up this year.
Byram will also get a look depending how he does in preseason.
Overall, I still see a team capable of making the playoffs,
Agreed, even though the central is nasty, AVS made so many good trades+ signings = guaranteed playoffs spot
Makar + Byram will be so much fun to watch, those guys are just special. I hope for MacKinnon = 110+ point season. And Kadri will have a good year at the 2C(50+ points).
There is no on west there in the playoff for the AVS so no Boston = no suspension
