No offense man, but this is a terrible take and comparison. Subban was purely a CAP dump so Nashville could sign Duchene. It’s already been reported several times that Nashville left better deals on the table because NJ took ALL of Subbans contract, which is what Nashville needed.

Also, not sure about your assessment that “Leddy hasn’t been very good recently” take... until this past season Leddy was a consistent 40+ #1 defensemen. His point total dropped last year because of the Defense first system Trotz employs, and even then, he was 12 points away from 40. Not to mention he improved his +/- from -42 two years ago to 0 this past season. The only reason Leddy is even considered to be moved is because Toews is a younger, cheaper version of him, so Leddy can be moved to help the team without hurting the Isles defense.

Look man, Leddy isn't worth two 1sts and a 2nd. Especially not from MTL. To say Leddy was a #1 defenseman is just a brutal take.. 2020 draft is stacked so don't expect 1st round picks to be flying in the air. If you really think this is a fair trade you need to check the NHL market. & it doesn't matter if Subban was a cap dump or not.
