I also don't think that we should sign a 28 year old Duchene to a 7 year deal at 8-9.5 million per, as we all know somebody is going to. Our center depth is good but we don't really have that #1 guy. At least not yet. Maybe Kotkaniemi gets there, but not yet. Poehling probably projects more of a #2 or #3. Domi played great last year but I would prefer to see him as a winger on a top line with a true #1 center. Danault has been playing as our #1 center but would be better suited being a shut down center #2 or #3. So what do we do. Stay the course and hope that Kotkaniemi gets there quickly? Tough decisions ahead.

Trading for a #1 center is next to impossible, and the cost will be significant. That being said Carey Price and Shea Weber are not getting any younger. We either need to put the tools around them now, or move them and continue to build for the future. JT Miller is not a #1 center either IMO but closer than what we currently have to offer.
