If the reports of Karlsson looking for competitive offers from Ottawa and Montreal are true. This is a realistic look at his value. Is he dynamic when healthy....unquestionably! Has he had some serious injuries over the last few years.... Absolutely! He is also 29 years old. Skating is a huge part of what makes him special. Age has a way of taking some of that skating from you, even if he is fully healthy age will start to slow him. So with that all said and knowing he will want a seven year deal. I would not be comfortable paying him any more than $10,500,000.00 per season. Even with that there is huge risk here.

Signing Karlsson makes Petry expendable. Setting up a trade with Winnipeg who are most likely going to move Trouba who will be looking for a raise from last years 5.5 Million which is the number Petry is signed to for the next 2 years. They also need cap space if they hope to sign young stars in Connor and Laine.

Alzner needs to be moved and as little as possible salary retained. A top prospect and some draft picks should be the cost.

It pains me to move Gally, he is a heart and sole guy and a 30 goal scorer, but I do think that wear and tear is going to catch up with him.

Price needs a better back up that can play 25-30 games. Florida needs some cap space for bread man and goalie Bob.

Some older wingers need to move out to make some room for youth. Shaw and Byron. To any team for some draft picks and or prospects.
