I understand Boston has a terrific track record for getting young players to sign great deals but if they win the cup I find it hard to believe that McAvoy would sign for anything less then 8.5. All his good buddies from USNTDP are going to be getting PAID this summer and if he signs for significantly less then them with a potential cup ring… he should fire his agent.

few issues here, mostly with term.
1. It's been pretty widely reported that McAvoy only wants a bridge deal.
2. 5 years only buys out one UFA year for Carlo. He's awesome, but the only guys that really get that treatment are guys like Seth Jones, Auston Matthews, and the like get.
3. 4 years for Heinen brings him right to UFA without buying out any years. Never happened in NHL history before, I doubt they start a trend now.
4. The bruins have announced that JFK will be returning to Sweden for a year or two.

27 or 7 years played gets you to UFA. pretty simple.
