Random thought SJ-CBJ
I mean the Sharks cannot complain with that offer but I think if Vegas is picking 30-32 and latest in the 2nd, the Sharks may hesitate, not in a critical way of the trade but on how they plan to utilize on the package.
Unless they using those picks to package a trade up; 32 + 64 would easily allow for a great pick in the “teens” I think then it’s a fast no brainer.
I’m mixed on both Boq and Texier - no idea what they really are anymore.
San Jose technically could clear something like 15th OA and 2 roster players for Mario which they cannot argue over, that’s what I would do with your proposed trade atleast.

Trade Assets and Trade Targets - Crucial TDL Needs Big Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I don’t think it would be a fit. If we add a goalie, it sounds like we are looking for a true #1. The market is flooded with #1b types and backups…and there are only 2-3 teams buying a goalie. So imagine we could add without having to move Casey, who probably is only made available for guys like Saros, Gibson, Ullmark, etc</div></div>
I agree on Saros but don’t think the devils should go after Gibson or Ullmark or Markstrom.
My only point is Hill was a B / Backup… and we see how Vegas evaluated the situation and got “lucky” but they greater their own luck.
I personally think Kaapo could be the 2nd “Adin Hill” the Sharks put on the Market if he’s sent to a contender. Never a guarantee - but I like the improvements he made to his game. They were visually seen day 1 this year and his stats back it up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Just doesn't feel like assets we need to put Casey on the table for.
Sasha for a 3rd? Idk what the price is on a KHLer who's requested a trade
Vitek dump for a 3rd
Kaapo for a 3rd.
Just no need to put casey in that</div></div>
Idk I may recall incorrectly but I thought it was more a mutual partition between SJS and Sasha I don’t think it was a trade request. Grier had nothing to do with Sasha chosing to go the KHL. Before his time. He’s done his time and earned the right to ask for a new situation. He’s nearly a PPG in the KHL and 24 - I don’t think a 3rd is ludicrous as he also didn’t play bad in his NHL games (SJ just fumbled him).
That’s why I said Sasha Kaapo and a 2nd for VV Casey tho; you get a redo with a basically guaranteed high pick, and you get a goalie and a NHL improvement for a cap dump and a “technically” expendable prospect.
Imo Devils shouldn’t touch Markstrom or Gibson and they shouldn’t go big fish fishing with how close they are to the cap.

I think the Sharks should keep him - but his transition to LW has caused to things:
He’s overall looked more comfortable
He’s become more expendable
Eklund tho, if he stays a C (his natural position) and tries to slowly transition like Stutzle, then Bordeleau needs to be kept.
I think SJS fans have become to eager to move on from him.

Kaapo would fill a need in my eyes. A major one - he also wouldn’t be due for a large raise due to well being a Shark lmao. Maybe a 3.5 x 2 or 3 unless he were to be traded to the devils and go a playoff push tear (like Hills run).
A path with Vanecek - Casey for Kaapo Sasha and a 2nd ? Any conversation.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Not a very good prospect and a late 1st to take Campbell is no bueno</div></div>
I don’t see a world we’re the Oilers offer more, and the Campbell buyout is not brutal, nor do I think the Sharks will be competitive next year in terms of financial spending - so we can stomache the cap hit and his buyout becomes better the longer we keep him, plus we can’t bring up any of our current goalies. Xavier and a late first which (we got musty at 27) is great. In this draft we can really improve our defence and forward group. Even if we pick 32 - there are going to be some fantastic names on the board still. I personally would be interested Cole Hutson and EJ Emery both being sharks.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sharcuda22</b></div><div>This and also, Grier seems to want to avoid taking on long term contracts. I think by 25/26 he wants to be competing for a playoff spot. I dont think we pursue any capdumps longer than two years. I also wouldnt give up assets like that for Casey who i think will request a trade or just wont sign with devils given the lack of opportunities available for his player type. Better to wait and see if we can convince him or pay like 3rd like we did for Thrun</div></div>
I don’t see Casey waiting that long (next year) - he’s likely wanting to make a pro jump soon with just how well he’s playing. And it wouldn’t be bad for his development either.
And he likely will cost more than a 3rd even if it gets to the Thrun situation. Casey could be a top pair guy - don’t see the harm in improving the team by losing a 2nd and Sasha who won’t play here.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RecycleShark</b></div><div>Thanks for all the analysis.
Like the Toronto trade.
Edmonton: I'd prefer Broberg over Bourgault, especially if we are trading Ferraro away.
NJ: Agree with Sharcuda22 that we shouldn't be giving up picks now, especially 2nd and 3rd rounders. How about Kaapo and Chmelevski for Seamus Casey?
Ariz: Maybe we could get more for Duclair if we trade him to the NYR as part of a bigger deal that includes Goodrow cap dump and Kaapo Kakko to the Sharks.</div></div>
Don’t think the Rangers are going to pay up to dump Goodrow with their GM wanting to keep their first, and idk if NYR is actually going to move on from Kakko, he’s playing well defensively - would be a good winger for a cup run.
I do not want Broberg. And I personally see Thrun and Shakir as the future top 4 LD - no reason for Broberg IMO. He’s not better than either and I’d rather let Okho try and become a strong hitting 3rd pair guy. Broberg just wastes roster space in my eyes.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Devils say no thank you.
If we deal Casey, it would be to upgrade our current roster.
Don't need picks or KHLers</div></div>
Technically Sasha is an upgrade as he’s going to be coming to NA
Like the others said - could be Kaapo but not many fans think he’s that good - but he’s more likely to follow in Hills footsteps than not. I tried Kaapo to the devils before but got a lot of pushback.

Theres no world where SJS moves Hertl to BOS without Lysell being involved. 1 Late first, a depth player, and probably a depth center aren't cutting it.
That FLA deal is interesting but IDK what FLA is going to do with Spencer / what they value him as.
Cooch may just retire honestly.
Deal may be too expensive for the Wings to consider.

Giving UFAs extra term to sign in SJ
Pretty sure Grier has already stated he is looking to efficiently spend money in the UFA period, and he said if I recall as a quote that he doesn't want to sign bad money deals or long term as he wants to avoid the situation San Jose as just recently in. Its far more reasonable to wait and see what San Jose does this TDL then assess what the summer will look like.

Leafs biggest trade in years
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ansabch12</b></div><div>For starters Topi Niemela is not your 2nd best prospect and the Leafs are ranked around the basement of the league for prospect rankings so even the top few prospects aren't gonna be gamechangers, second of all you didn't praise Ras enough lol calling him a "good dman" is like calling Matthews a "good centre", and third of all Topi and a first isn't a good enough return when 30 other teams will outbid that offer but keep whining about how im not offering a rebuttal despite the fact that I wrote more than you in every single comment so far, maybe try reading it before reacting all emotionally.
It makes literally no sense to trade both Hanifin and Andersson to the Leafs when separately there is a way better collection of assets we could get, this would be such inept asset management by the Flames that Conroy would instantly get fired, so yeah the Flames easily say no to this trade.</div></div>
I’m not a leafs fan lol. Nor a flames.
Topi is the 2nd best prospect for the Leafs in my eyes. His chance of being a NHLer is far greater than most of the Leafs guys, and he’s got enough upside for PP time and a quality 2nd pair player. He’s also versatile and smart, and has progressed in the AHL which is important. And he’s got more defensive growth than Porier which makes me prefer to project Topi over JP.
The Leafs have been ranked around 20-25 and the Flames ranked 17 I believe if I recall correctly lol… I don’t recall seeing the Flames ever in the top 15, Wolf and Coro are studs so there’s no criticism for Flames imo.
I never said the Flames accept or don’t decline if you can read. I said people are calling this offer delusional which it isn’t. It close but not there. Take out Holmberg and provide more quality. Brodie only makes sense if he’s instantly flipped for the Flames: which returns value. Brodie isn’t a bum and would return a fair asset.

Hanifin is again much better than that and will easily be able to fetch a better return on the deadline market, there is literally no point in trading both top 2 dmen to the same team that already has a limited asset pool, so maybe try looking at the actual trade before simply comparing value.</div></div>
You just called Cowan a mid prospect lol.
Yeah sorry man I didnt praise Rasmus enough??? What do you want a paragraph about how good he is, you’re just looking to whine.
A mid prospect is like Minten.
Getting topi and a first is a great return for a UFA but cry more without offering any useful rebuttal.
You got the Leafs two best prospect but act like you got their 7th and 8th. This offer would be close (KEY WORD) to Coronato and Porier (Coronato clears Cowan easily and I’d personally take Topi over Porier but that’s really just a coin toss/ matter of preference between those two I’d say).
Cowan would probably be a top 3-4 Flames prospect and I’d personally rank Topi higher than Porier (who’s commonly ranked 4-5 for the Flames).

I mean Cowan is a pretty dynamic prospect since his explosive OHL season this year. Cowan and a first may not be equal for Ramus in your eyes, but one could argue Topi and a 1st which could be 18ish is an overpay for UFA (who the leafs shouldn’t resign imo). What the Leafs are really doing - wink

I don’t think the Sharks would shy away from Samsonov. As we’ve seen with Hill, Kaapo, Blackwood - their coaching staff with Nabokov has been able to help goalies hone their game. In this scenario Sammy likely signs a cheap aav with 3-4 years with San Jose. At 26 I don’t think it’s a terrible bet to make for a team who has time to develop a goalie like they did with Kaapo.
It’s very evident that Kaapo and the staff worked incredibly hard this offseason - watching the games it was evident from his first start the improvements they made.
The Leafs could add any asset but I think Topi for a goalie who I’d personally like to see win a cup like Hill is fine by me. Leafs can add whatever but I like setting a base with my trades not (and NOT SAYING YOU ARE, I understand your points) tormenting over the necessary tidbits to balance it out.
Maybe add a 3rd or 4th or Abruzzese to help the Cuda!

I think Kaapos value is high - but EF did make a great point that teams are hesitant to trade for Kaapo as he’s never led a cup run/ playoff run.
Similar to Adin Hill - the goalie may be there - but there’s always a worry on the value you want to give.
