<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CantStopWontStop</b></div><div>Anybody have a guess on Chychrun’s trade value and next contract?
Revisiting his last trade, he went for a sub 16 draft pick (unknown at time and top 5 protected), a 2nd, and a 2nd 2 years later.
I’m finding him very comparable to Vince Dunn and his 4 year, 7.35AAV, and acquiring him gets you next season at his current aav of 4.6.
I wonder if Ottawa gets back “more” than they paid, primarily because Chychrun played all 82 games this past season, and the acquiring team would be extending at the time of trade. I think they can flip him for more.
I dunno if my blues would be involved but the left side of our d is going to change eventually, one way or the other.</div></div>
Personally, I would keep Chychrun and move Chabot out if I were Ottawa.
Sanderson is the absolute stud of the future there and they need a RD complement to him (a defensively responsible partner) to allow Sanderson to push the play. Pesce would be ideal but Demelo or Matt Roy would be in the mix.
Chychrun-Zub as their 2nd pair would be ideal. If they strike out on their top pair targets then maybe Sean Walker and bump Zub up to the top pair.

This looks very decade-of-darkness Edmonton Oilers. Moving Hertl was very risky in terms of prospect development for the Sharks. Signing Monahan, Duchene, Pavelski, Stephenson, or offer-sheeting Lundell almost needs to happen for the Sharks just to take some of the heat off of Celebrini. Best-case-scenario he's going to be similar to year-one Eichel, but doesn't have the luxury of a O'Reilly type to insulate him. Worst-case he's year-one Jack Hughes without the promise of righting the ship behind the likes of Hischier.
Thoughts on Ceci for Knyzhov and the Pittsburgh 5th? Would be a good partner for Mukhamadullin.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>Personally,
I see zero benefits for the Sens to be go like 6-14 for the rest of the year (idk how many games are left).
I know I know there’s prospects and the Sens can hit big. But there is something wrong with the organization. I ain’t gonna sugar coat it, I think a lot of it could have been fixed this year if they fired DJ, last year. But the Sens aren’t even behind the 8 ball, they’re so far behind where they should be it’s scary. Tbh the roster shouldn’t even be allowed to be on vacation that long, they need camps to start in July lol.</div></div>
More than DJ Smith, the sale process dragging into the late summer was disastrous for the team. The DeBrincat trade and the Korpisalo contract never should have happened if the NHL hadn't dragged their heels on confirming the bid.

Yeah I don't care. My mental bandwidth for cheering for them to be bad ran out about 3 years ago. Hope to see the individual players pump their stats, but I couldn't care less about the team results right now. Not watching the rest of the way. Gonna check out.

Full trade:
Pittsburgh trades Jake Guentzel (25% retained) and Ty Smith to Carolina in exchange for Michael Bunting, Ville Koivunen, Vasili Ponomarev, Cruz Lucius, Carolina’s 1st RD pick in 2024 (Conditional) and Carolina’s 5th RD pick in 2024 (Conditional).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>I think Grier has done a fantastic job with the Duclair trade.
1) basically two thirds (equal to Tarasenko) - a good RD prospect for SJ which needs RD; and he’s 21 so he’ll have a lot of time to grow in SJ and the best pick they could get from Tampa realistically.
2) Duke has consistently voiced interest in SJ and while their being no deal on the table (obviously) he said in the last 24hrs he would return to SJS in the offseason is they would have him and if there was no deal out there for him.
3) ..I actually don’t think Duclair will stay in Tampa so it would come down to a new front runner to give Duclair a UFA deal.
4) And Grier has voiced recently not waning long term expensive UFA’s which means: IF DUKE was to resign in SJ
- Duke will return to a deal that’s probably 2-4 years
- At an AAV of probably 4.5-3.75m
So if the stars align for a Duclair in Teal - we could see Thompson, a 3rd for Duclair to return at a 4 years - 4mAAV deal.
Which would make an already great deal by Grier - even more incredible.</div></div>
I know things look bleak in SJ right now; but I really like all the young additions to their blueline pipeline. Really have turned that around in a short time.

They absolutely do. He's been great in the locker room, good in the community, and good on the ice. He had a couple of games where he was rightfully scratched for low effort, but I imagine it can be tough losing night in and night out.
I do question if he'll actually re-sign here in the offseason, but mostly because players are often complimentary on their way out but rarely re-sign.
