Hailey Salvian of the athletic said today on a podcast that there is a large rift between matthew and the managment, and also the rest of his teammates. The team doesn't like his emotional style of play and its creating a divide. Said she believes in a players only meeting recently several teammates told tkachuk that "it can't be a battle every night" and he needs to stop dragging people into the fight. Since then the divide has grown.
CGY is going to have to decide if they stick with matthew or support the rest of the team

What would it take
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claebom</b></div><div>Pierre-Luc Dubois (career 0.67 PPG at the time) was just traded at 22 with a 3rd for Laine (career 0.82 PPG at the time) and Roslovic (0.37 PPG at the time). Ryan Johansen (0.62 PPG in CBJ) was traded at 23 for Jones (0.32 PPG in NSH, top 4 potential). Matt Duchene (0.73 PPG in COL) was traded at 26 for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Girard (top 4 D prospect), Bowers (middle 6 C prospect), Kamenev (bottom 6 forward prospect), and Hammond (fringe backup goalie). Those are probably the best examples of big names being traded.
Brady (career 0.62 PPG) is still 21 years old and has played on one of the worst teams in the league but still compares remarkably well to guys like Dubois and Johansen. You're looking at the Dubois trade as the closest comparable, so the Sens would be expecting a Laine-esque return. That means the only return Calgary that could ever offer that would move the needle for Ottawa would be Matthew Tkachuk, and that's not going to happen.
Considering he's younger than Duchene, if you wanted to go the direction of futures, it would be looking far more in the direction of what an offer sheet would cost and the Sens would probably match anything up until the four 1sts bracket and at that point you're just overpaying for the player in dollars. It'll cripple the team before anything else can be done.</div></div>
Jones was pretty clearly a top pair D prospect at the time

Sens 2020
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>6mil of cap space over the course of 4 years gives you the freedom to go after a guy like Hall, which is why it’ll be expensive to dump. Rule of thumb though, don’t expect any value back at all when trading cap dumps. The most ridiculous part is you want 4 picks and 2 young D men. If it was 1st/2nd/3rd and Turris for future considerations it wouldn’t be too far off I guess but there’s no way Ottawa takes a crippling cap hit like that for that term (ALL our young guys will need big contracts before the end of that)</div></div>
Its not getting picks back. I don’t get that you don’t understand that. Its ottawa moving up in the draft. GMDP has already stated flat out that he is not making any trades with turris that cost leaving the 1st round or tomasino. Buying him out is not nearly as painful as you think

Marleau was a steal and absoultly is not the base for these deals. Your asking for more than taylor hall or erik karlsson got. For 6 mil of cap space

It’s literally not gonna happen. It’ll take 3 1sts or 2 1sts + Tomasino to even get the ball rolling. Just because Turris was great for us 3 years ago doesn’t mean we’ll overpay him now that he’s fallen off a cliff.</div></div>
Im sorry but 3 1st will never happen. Hell they won’t even give up tomasino. Your sense of value is very very scewed

I can see that. Still, lajoie and jaros are young guys who deserve a shot to prove themselves, and if we can’t get demelo back i can see a deal like this

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Alfie11</b></div><div>And have 2mil on the cap for EIGHT years?!? Doubt it. But he doesn’t have value anymore, so don’t expect anything back. It’ll take multiple 1sts to move 6mil for 4 years</div></div>
They are already commited to doing that unless they get an offer that doesn’t force them to break the bank. Its still a way to for the sens to steal assets, but they have already stated they aren’t giving away the 1st or tomasino. However they are open to trading the 1st down and with the isles pick trending in the wrong direction i think this can allow us to move a few of our picks higher up

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Duggysdanglers</b></div><div>The last 2 on that list are not NHL ready and Russell gives them a year to develop without putting them into the pros too soon. A late 2nd rounder is not the huge of a price for this deal. He’s a placeholder for sure but he’s in the top of the NHL year after year for blocked shots. He’s great to pair with a younger D like Brannstrom. It’s a win win. Ottawa has approximately 13 picks this year and 10-14 next year. They can easily afford this one and it’ll pay off for them.</div></div>
Again tho absolutely no reason to. Jaros, Zaitsev, Lajoe, Hainsley all are good enough for rn. Plus there is always the options of resigning boro and demelo. I just think ottawa has no reason to give up a second for something they can get for free
