How id role for playoffs
Kaliyev is likely a healthy scratch, Englund won't be on the top pair, Lizotte over Lewis at 4C, Grundstrom should be back, there will be the potential the Kings roll 11-7 with Moverare.

Trading problems - Habs fan perspective
I think it makes sense, but this move would get Blake fired. Most fair PLD trades would get him fired, I think LA is going to eat the contract and hope he continues to improve.
Either that or they rapidly need to fire Blake and trade PLD before July 1st, and the Kings will still need their future 2C, which isn't KK.

Awful Contracts
There is zero chance CBJ wants PLD back.
PLD is staying in LA, because if he doesn't improve or is traded at any type of loss GM Rob Blake is out of a job. Also, PLD has a NMC kicking in July 1st.

LA is ok, if they want a Roy replacement they could get Brodie cheaper and without trading assets.

That Jarry trade is ridiculous on several levels.
He has been sub par, over paid, and would be coming back to the goaltending coach who he got fired in Pitt.

If Rakell was a free agent would he get $5Mx4? I wouldn't want the Kings to pay that.

Ana - LaK Kings get their goalie from their own backyard
John Gibsons last season with a save % above .905 (NHL average goalie save percentage is .904%) was the 2018-19 season. He is over 30, injury prone, on an expensive contract, with a NTC.
LA has found better goaltending for a 1/3 of the cost in 2 goaltenders this season.
Danault is untradable.

Big Moves in the Offseason
LA isn't moving PLD at a loss unless Blake is fired, which would still need to happen before July 1st, when PLDs NMC kicks in.

Taking another idea from diff poster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>I can definitely see that argument. Danault is not a 1c though. For the sake of LA, they need either PLD or Byfield to assume the mantle for Kopitar. Byfield with his age still has that potential. I was mainly looking at a potential idea that LA may look at but the idea is risky both teams.</div></div>
Right now, Moore-Danault-Fiala is LA's best line. Kopitar is second. PLD is third. Byfield has played one game as center this season. It's not exactly what LA wanted, but Danault is LA's 1C if Kopitar is done, as of right now.

NYI - LaK at the draft blockbuster
No thanks, Blake is already in hot water for putting too much money on goaltending and is succeeding with the cheapest goalie tandem in the league.
PLD isn't going anywhere, if the Kings have to retain or pay to move him, Blake gets fired. Not sure a GM willingly will make a move to fire himself.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hockeynutter</b></div><div>This idea is more for LA, Danault.is aging and Norris if can be proved healthy is much more intriguing. For Ottawa, it rids them of a very good top 6 center by are worried about health. Of LA asked, it is possible for a trade as Ottawa looks close to contending with the roster and prospects.</div></div>
Kopitar is out sooner than Danault, Danault is slotted as the 1C unless PLD improves, don't see Norris is paid too much to make the move for him.

Danault has a NTC and very likely nothing would result in moving him.

PLD trade
Has this conversation not been beaten to death? Like there was literally already this post earlier today.
-PLD is very unlikely to be traded from LA
If he is, somehow the trade needs to not look like a loss for Blake if he wants to keep his job.
It also needs to address who takes a top-6 center role, because right now PLD is the Kings best option once Kopitar leaves.

Graves for anyone
Graves would be LA's 3LD behind Gavrikov and Anderson, he'd also cost $5.5M against the cap with the PLD inclusion. I can't see any world where Blake keeps his job if he did this trade.

PLD Redux
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>I don't think that's the kind of post I made here. I think I am offering good value plus one bad contract which is short in comparison to PLD's deal. The bad contract is a payment for the inherent risk in the deal.</div></div>
The Kings traded several high-level wingers to obtain a center, with Kopitar retiring in 2-3 seasons having a top-6 center is their priority, second priority is a top-10 goalie to bridge the gap until Portillo is here. They can likely get a goalie stop gap from free agency, they have proven this season that is doable.
LA won't move PLD until it is clear they have a top-6 center in their system or who is coming back. If that can't be addressed, at least a goalie would need to be part of this. If negative contracts come back, Blake will get fired. He's stuck, and hoping PLD will improve, and since the coaching change that has occurred. So no trade here, they will keep rolling the dice with PLD.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>I hope you're right, but I think everyone and their grandmother knows that NMC is completely irrelevant if it relates to a potential trade to MTL.</div></div>
It really does, if PLD only wants to move to Montreal, why would Montreal be motivated to provide a favorable trade for LA. At this point PLD is staying in LA barring some actual value and no negative contracts coming back.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>Wasn't the Petersen trade going to be a loss regardless, he was a cap dump.</div></div>
Yes, Blake signed Petersen, and the Kings lost Walker who fetched a first and are paying $2M for it. GM made a bad move and had to correct it, Flyers got a first from Walker which makes them easily the winners of that trade. At the end of the day Blake has a few mistakes and owning up to any more likely costs his job. The only way PLD gets fair value in a trade is if he is a force in the playoffs. Otherwise his NMC kicks in July and these trades can finally die.

PLD Redux
I have seen a PLD trade to Montreal every week since last year, and it typically is done by Habs fans. It typically becomes an echo chamber of how lucky the Habs are that they didn't trade for PLD.
We get it, congratulations, but can these trade threads die already?
PLD isn't half as awful as people have thought, and if Blake moved PLD at a loss he would be fired because it would be his third losing move this year (moved Cal Peterson at a loss, fired one of the most expensive coaches in the league, and now this). He isn't getting moved, and will likely improve in LA, which he has, honestly over his last 10 games, I don't have a lot to be upset about.
