Yeah, Duclair is pretty much my #1 trade target at this point. Shouldn't cost a high pick and would fill one of their biggest needs - throw him on the wing with Barzal and Horvat and I think he starts looking like that 30 goal scorer he was before his injury.

Doesn’t matter what happened after the trade. The fact is he was traded for with only half a season left and was a rental until signed. Nelson for 1.5 seasons costs more than what Horvat got

No they didn’t. They acquired Horvat on January 30 and the extension wasn’t signed until February 5.. so they literally acquired him as a rental and took a week to negotiate. 1.5 years of Nelson costs more than Horvat.

You really wanna go down on how much and how long said skill/talent offers value? Drafting is a thing but development and team window is also to be included in such calculation. I wouldn't say that those coming guys do not bring something but the time between the draft and the moment they reach a profitable moment should ring a bell for you ...

Your 30% hit rate is kinda vague here. from round 1 rank 1 to 12, we're at a 65% chance to hit the league with a greater talent/skill, from 12 to 25 we're at something like 45%, and 25+ less than 30% but as ranks fall the curve of talent skill also downgrade. So yeah they can bring a whole lot of things to a team and contribute but for how long and with what consistency?

Go have fun reading the papers and come back to us with your enlightenment about it. GMs have a huge math problem with this, and with our huge sensitivity as fans, we elude too much of this kind of logic and therefore miss the value by a lot.

Isles aren’t paying to move Palmieri. He’s actually playing well and his chemistry with Nelson and Palmieri is very noticeable. Plus he’s on our PP1. He’s a player worth his 5 mil cap hit unlike others on our team.

I mean, if I could think of one team in the league that is set at RD it surely is NYI. Baring any major injury they have Pulock, Dobson and Mayfield, two of which are on 7 years contracts and Dobson is absolutely getting re-signed in a couple of years long term. Value's fine on the trade but there's absolutely no way any of the three above are getting benched for Petry.
