As an oilers fan I can tell you that these bruins fans are accurate in the one way value in this trade, as well as the pieces are not what they want/need.

Nashville Off-season
Oilers decline. We will target FA for our goalie, and with Klef most likely being done, we will want to keep high end prospects like Broberg.

Palat might get a second unless Tampa has another LTIR for the season. Teams will bid low since Tampa has next to no leverage in that trade.

Interesting enough. Oilers potentially could do it then, but I think they'd look for UFA's or players within their organization to fill that roster spot before giving up any asset for him.

Edmonton would also have the space to protect Tarasenko. I think I'd have to agree that from a Blues perspective, they want it done pre-expansion, I think most teams might want to do it post extension. Could be interesting to see which it is.

I'm not really all that convinced Oilers would go after/want Engvall. Maybe I don't watch enough leafs hockey, but he's not a standout player at 25 years old.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>West_Virginia_Take_Me_Home</b></div><div>1.) I havn't seen a single source that says he'd waive for Edmonton. Highly unlikely.
2.) We are stacked on D, our biggest need is a goal scorer who people want to go out and buy their jersey. You have 2 of them. You'll never part with McDavid and RNH is highly unlikely after signing the 8 year deal.
It ultimately comes down to us just not being a good fit for trading at this time. Id offer our 16th OA this year and 2nd next year plus tarasanko, Dunn, and Blais?</div></div>
I haven't seen any sources saying who he would waive for. Also if he wants out bad enough, he may waive for more teams. Him wanting out, and his injury history/risk do really limit his ability to choose his location.
Very few teams will give you a guy like that for Tarasenko, unless you're retaining half his salary.
I do understand it not being a good fit for trading at this time, and I am curious as to how that situation plays out. As for that Draisatl offer, not even close.

Unless Tampa is going to LTIR someone again, you probably don't get a first and a third to have someone take cap off your books. Yes killorn is a decent player on a decent deal, but Tampa is at a position of weakness if they need to shed cap.

A team might acquire Turris for "Future Considerations" if they need a warm body. Most likely will babe buried in Bako for 525k for next year.
Other than that though, decent. Not sure Anderson signs for that price based on rumours.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>So he is available if you are going to overpay by a lot. As for arbitration it won’t get that far. Every player settled for less last season and would this season also. Every fan on here expected Strome and ADA to get 6-7M.. so far off. We can afford the salary of Buch, don’t make the mistake of thinking he could get 7-9M. We are in compete now mode as per ownership, the GM isn’t moving a now piece for futures. Unless it’s Bouchard and halloway and maybe then some. I’m telling you it would be a deal that no one would do</div></div>
Which is fair. Understandable that its unlikely that Buch gets traded, but was curious on where the line is for him to be moved. I wish we got him when he was more "available" a few years back at deadline.

Based on the fact he is an RFA with arbitration rights, I don't think he is unavailable. Maybe not available for a logical price compared to player value.

Kerfoot isn't guaranteed a top-6 forward, and guaranteed to succeed with our top-6 current setup, so you won't get a 2nd for him. If your concerned about losing him in expansion, you are going to get an under-payment or lose him for nothing, not an over payment.

As an Oilers fan I would love that Kaprisov trade, but as you can tell from above you'd need more to it. Only chance he gets traded for close to that price is if its a sign and trade or a trade for just his rights because he doesn't want to sign in Minni. Even then, it'll be a bidding war.

Yeah 5 years left that bring him to his late 30’s. If he was the single missing piece, might be more tempting, but he isn’t the difference maker for the Oilers contending.

They are the 2 main candidates here. VAN and CGY have cap issues to navigate.</div></div>
Are his kids in Penticton B.C.? If so then you are spot on with Seattle making sense for travel, minus border crossing but that's nothing major in normal times. Vancouver would make more sense travel wise, but like you said cap issues similar to Calgary. Edmonton makes sense for the reasons you stated with the win now and playing with McDavid, but it also does make sense travel wise. Although it is far distance wise (roughly 1100km), it is a shorter flight and has more flight options to Penticton/Kelowna. That area isn't a heavily populated or traveled area during the season. So cities like Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver have an easier access to it.

I am not wrong, and you need to research how contract termination in NHL works. Otherwise the Rangers would have terminated Deangelo by now. If Keith wants a trade and the Hawks say no, then yes Keith has to report to the NHL team only, if he doesn't report to the NHL team, then yes his contract can be terminated. If the Hawks say you have to agree to terminate your contract to play, then its up to Keith. But if the Hawks want to play that game, they will have to pay full salary to scratch him.
I can send you links to the various pages explaining how contract termination and NMC's work if you'd like to see why Keith holds most of the cards in this situation, especially if the Hawks want to lose his contract.

Oilers most likely say no I think. Even if with retention, that's still a long and large contract on OEL. Holloway is highly regarded prospect within the organization. The 1st this year is also probably going to be saved until Cossa is drafted before Edmontons pick, or they will take him with their pick.
Garland is nice and adds a lot of value and helps bring it really close, but that OEL contract is a scary one for any GM to touch,

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I mean...thats not all the options. There are two (and a half) more options that are far more rational. Hey duncan. Do you still want to play hockey? NO. Ok. Then see ya later. We'll keep you on the roster and you can do what you want. OH yes is your answer. Ok...if yes you have two options. Play for us... OR skip out and we terminate your contract like STL did with Berglund and I think WPG did with Buf.</div></div>
If he doesn't want to play hockey, then he retires which isn't what the rumours say. You need viable reason to terminate a contract in a non-buyout manner, otherwise every team would do that instead of buying out. Him wanting to play hockey is not a viable reason. He has a full NMC, so you can't bury him in the minors, and can't trade him without his approval. Its either buyout or accept the trade that sends him to a team he wants to play for.
If he wants to keep playing but not in Chicago and Chicago won't trade him, then yes that his problem and if he doesn't report then you can terminate his contract.

Well good thing its up to Keith then. If the rumours are true he wants to be traded and not to retire, they have to choose between keeping him or getting whatever they can for him, which with his contract and buyout structure, is a bad contract with better buyout.
If you don't like that value though, buy Keith out yourself and we can sign him for a 2x2 and buy out Koski and save 1.25 million for the next two years, then save another 600k for the remaining 2 years of Keiths buyout
