<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I agree with you on give long term to Dmen at age 30.. Some just hit the wall....suddenly. Leafs have with Brodie this season. Holl for the Wings. Sure some will defy the wall till latter.

10-teamer NTC. So probably most of Canada and a few other spots (sometimes high tax, sometimes personal preference like NJ, etc etc). That leaves a lot of teams that would like Holl at 2 X $1.7M I figure.
I had assumed Yzerman was just going to further bury Holl and then possibly bury Petry. But the waivers status and Edvinsson making the team mean a move is more likely.
Here’s a longer list of teams I could see liking Holl at 2 x $1.7 w/o the Canadian teams and assuming roster holes this offseason:
Minny
STL
PHI
FLA
PIT
LA

cap circumvention
It's more likely Landeskog's career is over than it is he plays in the playoffs. This isn't a TB or Vegas situation. It's a timeline that has been stated for a long time.
And as others have stated, the earliest he could return is the third round. How effective do you think he'd even be after not playing hockey at all for two years and coming off multiple surgeries and rehabs?
Every now and then LTIR is used for what it is intended. This is a pretty clear case of that.

cap circumvention
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Is this some sort of joke? Do people ever get tired of whining about this? Apparently not. They played all of last season WITHOUT him on LTIR in case he did come back but now they're gaming the system? Also, get your facts straight: he isn't coming back any sooner than mid-May and it is extremely unlikely he comes back for these playoffs at all. Given the timetable for his recovery, it's practically guaranteed he isn't coming back before next season. He has a serious knee injury and highly risky cartilage replacement and hasn't played for two years. There is still the very real possibility he never plays a game of NHL hockey again but you think this is "cap circumvention." Give me break and get a life.</div></div>
They also had a chance to do this in 2021-22, when he had arthroscopic surgery before TDL, and they didn’t. Instead they traded locker-room favorite Tyson Jost to make room for their additions. Landeskog didn’t come back until game 1 of the playoffs, but they wanted to make sure they could get him in sooner if he was ready. And they still won.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SharkTank</b></div><div>3.4 mil is too much for a 7D.
No team is taking that contract.

Only downside is it's 4 years.
Mazur is definitely ready for the NHL.
But Yzerman is reluctant to promote players.
See Berggren.</div></div>
Yeah it's a lot but, I'm a guy who thinks unless you have a player coming in that will take that money why not just play out the contract and it's not like you want a young guy in the 7th D spot
Mazur could make the team sure but, is he a 4th liner\defensive type player because I think the top9 is full

Washington got rid of a problem (distraction) + cap space
Hurricanes could end up with a good center depth center (or even 2nd center if he returns to his old form)
I voted fair deal in these circumstances.

(PIT/CAR) - Guentzel, Smith for Bunting, Koivunen, Ponomarev, Lucius, 2024 2nd (PHI), 2024 5th (CAR)
Wow. This is an absolute fleece job by Carolina. I like Koivunen a lot, Lucius is solid, and Ponomarev is alright, but this is Jake freakin' Guentzel we are talking about. Pittsburgh doesnt even get a 1st unless Carolina makes the SCF. Feels like Dubas could've done so much better, guys like Morrow or Blake or Nadeau would've been far more fair.
For Carolina, this is the superstar they have long wanted. Guentzel is one of the best wingers in this league, and they didnt even have to give up any of their best prospects to get him. Excellent addition and he will thrive in Carolina.
For Pittsburgh, I already mentioned I really like Koivunen and I think Bunting next to Crosby will be very fun, but man this is underwhelming. I doubt Ponomarev or Lucius become much more than bottom 6ers, and they arent really guys you want to kick off your rebuild. This is going to be a tough pill to shallow for Pens fans who rightfully expected much more for a guy who gave his all to the organization for years.
The real winners here are NHL fans who are thrilled Vegas didnt land Guentzel. Heres to hoping they strike out on Buchnevich as well!

Yeah the Flames absolutely fumbled this deadline. The 1st they got isn't even guaranteed for 2025 and they couldn't even get an actual roster player or decent prospect out of it.
GMs just really love getting bent over backwards by Las Vegas, don't they?

(CGY/PHI/VGK) - Hanifin for for Miromanov, 2024 5th (VGK), 2025 1st (VGK), 2025 3rd (VGK)
Conroys streak of questionable trades continues. Trading Hanifin was a prime opportunity for the Flames to recoup some good futures, but they somehow managed to completely blunder the trade of one of the best players on the market. I guess the 1st isn't bad, although at this point it'll probably be 32nd overall and I do like Miromanov, but that just isn't enough. This is down right horrible for Calgary, and to make things worse they settled on this with a divisional rival...
For Vegas, this is a move that propels them even further towards the Cup. The idea of pairing Hanifin with Pietrangelo is terrifying. He's still got so many years of good hockey left in him, and it seems like Vegas will be able to get him re-signed. I already felt bad for any team in the west that has the misfortune of coming across Vegas in the playoffs, and it's even scarier now that they've bolstered their already stacked blue line while also still having room to add another huge asset. It's already game over for the rest of the league, we better hope the Knights don't land Buchnevich or Guentzel. Must be so nice having a front office that is just flat out fantastic.

Chiarot has been fantastic this season and is a big reason they are currently in the first WC spot; Holl costs very little and has stepped in nicely every time he has asked.
They still have lots of cap space (with lots more coming next year) and will have literally 0 issue re-signing any of their RFAs...you're clueless.

Agree with your value assessment in the description leading to who to trade. I think there would be huge value retaining half on Maatta and moving him with teams so tight to the cap a top 6 D at $1.5 next year, not sure if it's a comp but McCabe (50%) and Lafferty got a 1st plus with TOR. Veleno, Maatta (50%) could get a pretty nice yield??

Whats the cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mynameisliang_</b></div><div>I get what you're saying here, but the Jets really don't need to give up this much for Henrique.
Also, why do we want the guy playing 3C on the worst team in the league to come in and be our 2c? if the ask from Anaheim is like Montreal's 2nd and a B-tier prospect, sure. But I'm not overpaying for Henrique, Monahan, Dowd or any of the dime-a-dozen centres who are only marginally better than Namestnikov. If there aren't any difference makers left after the Lindholm move, then go out and get one of these guys so you don't have Dominic Toninato in your top-6 if someone gets hurt, but you don't need to overpay for them.</div></div>
Henrique is playing #1LW with Leo Carlsson and Troy Terry.
Henrique would be the third-leading scorer among forwards on your team, and there are subtle indications that your team is better than ours.

I'm not sure about that.
Yzerman loves Fabbri.
When he's playing he makes the Red Wings better.
He's finally healthy now and contributing.
He's a leader on that team.
I think he has more value as a Red Wing than whichever return he'd get which would be minimal given his 4 mil cap (or 2 mil retained) for a year and a half and his injury history.
Do I expect Fabbri to be re-signed when his contract is up?
No I don't. They'll need his roster spot for one of the many young forwards they have marinating in Grand Rapids.

I guess the only really "crazy" overpay is the Crosby deal. You're not getting 3 firsts and 3 top prospects for a little over a year of 36 YO Crosby.
Henrique is a good target, but isn't worth a 1st. Maybe a low 2nd tops.
Tanev doesn't fill a need, he'd be just a depth guy in case of injuries and that doesn't cost a high 2nd that really is petty much a 1st.
