<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>U know how funny that reads coming from a Leafs fan…. right??</div></div>
I just seen too many players especially Dmen hit the wall in their early thirties. So it isn't so much have 30 to 33 year old players, it's having players on expensive contract till they are about 36.
Your comment. I'm just trying to be realistic for all fans., but your comment about the Leafs is true, Be interesting how the Leafs spend their cap in summer of 2025 when both Marner and Tavares and their 22m come off the books.

Well you have DeBrincat, resign Patrick Kane, and get Toews to come out of retirement. The glory trio from Chicago days,

As good as Guentzel is, do you really spend 8.9m on a 30 year old winger? Maybe solidify the Jarvis and Necas long term and have cap for a capable NHL Dman.

next year
Probably three guys were don't waive their NMC. Leafs would better next season but starting in 25/26 probably better to have Minten, a first and 16m in cap.

Getting A Goalie
Having a 20 man roster isn't a way to build a team. Weak fourth line, weak centre depth, and two non ready rookies.

24-25 Leafs Look Ahead I
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Hippy</b></div><div>At the beginning of the season Villeneuve alternated between having happy feet and deer in the headlights eyes.. That was the big bugaboo in his game. Size, skating, vision, shot, compete, the rest was there. But now the panic in his game has vanished. He is confident out there now. I think at the end of the day, you are looking at a Liljegren clone, a defenseman who is above average across the board but has no one thing that is outstanding.</div></div>
Thanks for your insight.

Cost Check
Can't see the the cap strapped Wild and centre depleted Wild trading Rossi. Really Canucks don't have anything that would interest the Wild.

Its a Cap fit
Appreciate what you did to the defence and 23 man roster, Gotta believe Lyubushkin gets more $$$$. Centre has absolutely no NHL depth, and even LW could be weak.
6m for Roy really isn't feasible, when it affects so many other positions.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Hippy</b></div><div>The only reason I put him in there is the emergence of William Villeneuve who is more in line with what Treliving likes in terms of reach and has arguably caught up to Niemela in terms of development but is a year behind. Villeneuve may be bigger but is he NHL good enough??? I guess you could say the same about Villeneuve. What a bonus if those two guys could fill in next season in. case of injury and be regulars in 25/26.
You commented about Timmins. When he's played, IMO he has been solid.

I suggest you make post of a Kings team in 24/25. They could fit Byfield in at 8m. Of course an player doesn't have to sign an offer sheet

My Realistic Approach To This Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>It's Boston's second, so it's more in line with an early 3rd. If Walker costs more, then the Leafs can simply waive one of the scratches and give that money to Walker. Is Roy really a stretch? Seems like the perfect partner for Mo and is easily affordable. I wouldn't mind bringing Benoit back but Rifai is half the cost and is a very similar player (who also loses waiver exemption next season which is a factor). He skates extremely well, is a real pest, and did VERY well in his 2 games with the Leafs. Dont really have interest in bringing Lyubushkin back either, much rather bring back Edmundson</div></div>
Why do Leaf fans think Roy will sign with the Leafs? Lots of teams....some with more cap can afford. Just don't think the Leafs are a priority for this Michigan boy.

The reason why trading most draft picks is a big reason for our struggles
I agree with you. Those TDL trades did not nothing to help the Leafs. Just a waste of potential good players player on their ELCs., Then the Leafs are forced to fill their roster with mostly over the hill aging UFA signings.
Knies and Robertson. are the ony two Leaf on their ELCs.....that's awful.

My Realistic Approach To This Offseason
Like the forwards but don't think Leafs can get Walker than cheap, and Roy is a real stretch for the Leafs to sign. Gotta think Benoit at 1.5m on the team, Maybe Luby at 2.75, and then have over over 5m left for a Walker, Demelo, or Tanev signing.
A second (near a first) for Robertson....doubtful.

Why all this love for Lindholm? Just because the Canucks traded for him, doesn't mean you have to resign him
Arvidisson will be 31 in April. Way too long term.

Staal for Kampf
Europe doesn't pay anywhere close to 2.4m American for two years. He's stays North America.
But if he was that easy to move, wouldn't the Leafs do it, instead of taking on 2.9m Staal

M NTC Kampf to "anywhere" isn't a trade. Are there teams on his trade list that have cap? Also Fast has a NTC till January 1, 2025. He won't be waiving to Sens.

Minimal Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>I agree, but he is the best center in this years UFA class, and theres only three that are reasonably aged.
Can Stephenson be as good outside Vegas?
Can Monahan stay healthy and continue producing?
Beyond those 3 theres a substantial drop off. Its also about what teams want, Philly would be looking for a 1st line center, but since there isnt one, they need a 1B center or 2C, as they have young wingers in Foertser, Tippett, Farabee, Koneckny, Brink, etc.... but lack centers in the organization. So its also about long term. Philly has cap and a load of picks/prospects, but I'd just as likely see them take a smaller cap chance on Stephensen, who probably doesn;t have the offensive upside</div></div>
Agree with you that the UFA centre position has few "above average" players available. But again, what's the balance between acquiring one for NOW and what he might be become in a few years?
Guess we'll find out for real in July. His production with the Canucks, admitting he has been playing wing, might be an indicator to "stay away"

can they improve and keep the tandem
If the Bruins went with this spending next year, I wonder how they reupped their guys in the summer of 2025, when the only expiring contract is Ullmark 5m.
Why sign Lindholm for that much or term?

3*3 for Ned seems too much, can get some veteran G cheaper to keep company for Ersson.
Other moves are fine.</div></div>
Yeah, I don't know why so many are on the LIndholm's bandwagon. Could be just another Couturier , or San Jose's Couture waiting to happen

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Would be great to see him playing again but I imagine he's on the longer end of the recovery window (16 months) and returning to playoff hockey after not having played for two years would be really tough. Can't help but think the Avs and Landy are going to be extra careful trying to get him back and will just wait until next season.</div></div>
Just to add, even if he's medically cleared to play......is he NHL good enough to be suddenly be inserted into a playoff game, after missing so much time.?

Articles say the Leafs need top four defenseman and a starting goaltender
Well an article should also say you can't run a team with a 20 man roster.
Not much thought put into this post. But really assuming Samsonov isn't resigned, yep Leaf will be looking for a NHL goalie (you don't need to read an article to realize that)
Brodie, Edmundson, Benoit are all UFAs. Yep the Leafs will have cap to add Dmen (you don't need to read an article to realize that )
