MN has another year of both Rossi's ELC and Middleton's contract....no rush at all to do something like this, pretty easy decline.

It's an interesting offer for Necas, but it would still need something like Peterka to make this work. Joki doesn't hold a lot of value, and while the 10th OA pick is nice, it's just not enough for a 65-70 point winger

Yes, the rebuilding team definitely want to trade away picks for overpaid 30 year old bottom 6 players.

The Day After The Shanaplan
Nashville declines. Marner is going to be a UFA and as nice as he is, swapping Saros for Marner doesn't help the Preds in any way. We don't know what Askarov will be in the NHL yet. And until we do Saros still has a ton of value to the Preds, and we would require something coming back in the trade that we can project how it will work on the roster going forward. I think Marner is overpaid. I think he'll be overpaid on his next contract, because he's already getting paid so much so why would he take a paycut. He's just not a fit for the retooling Preds if we get rid of Saros. Not even covering the fact that Evangelista is probably as close to untouchable as anyone not named Forsberg or Josi could be.

JT says no (NMC). Plus, Ottawa has center on lockdown and offence is the furthest of the issues they need to resolve this offseason.

Whats the deal with Timmins? Why do so many ACGM want to get rid of him? Hes 25, has decent metrics, and only makes 1m?

Sure you could healthy scratch Cowan or Minten, but why would you? Better to let them develop in the AHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Maybe Dubas should be another guy fighting for a job.</div></div>
I definitely think Dubas needs to just focus on PoHO things and hire a GM and he can work with that GM on roster building. I would LOVE Jason Botterill, the AGM from the Seattle Kraken.

Minten being ready would go a long way
Agreed, but hard to imagine Minten can play 2C next year and I don’t see him as a long term 2C; do you? And if Cowan isn’t on team next year he definitely will be year after so Domi signing is problematic imo. Marner / Willy + Knies / Cowan are your top 6 wingers & Matthews obviously 1C. JT better at 3C or LW and he can signed to team friendly extension and you’ve signed top 4RHDs so our biggest hole is 2C. No?

Leafs finally have a real GM
I get you are a Dubas hater but “we become what we hate”; sounding like you’re giving Tre too much credit. Let’s see how playoffs go but ridiculous to claim he’s done a great job since he got here; some good + some bad but playoff results will be the ultimate arbiter.

I would recommend that you clear your cache and browser history: the ads generated on this site are done so algortihmically based on your own search history and browsing habits.
If you're using Google Chrome as your browser, you can change your ad settings to remove any intensive or misleading ads by doing the following:
1. Open Chrome and click the veritcal triple dot button on the top right.
2. Select "More" then "Settings" and then "Privacy and Security".
3. Click "Site Settings" then "Additional Content Settings" and then "Intrusive Ads"

Also with the high interest in top 4 RD around the league Calgary isn't going to be the team DeMelo signs with, especially since they really don't need him

Flames already have that in Huberdeau. Difference is Marner produces and your star is a flashlight.

Given he can say no to 15 teams, and Boston can't afford to retain, if Ullmark wants to stay in Boston, you're going to have a difficult time moving him, because he can say every team that needs a goalie AND has the cap space is on his list.

24-25 Leafs Look Ahead I
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Villeneuve may be bigger but is he NHL good enough??? I guess you could say the same about Villeneuve. What a bonus if those two guys could fill in next season in. case of injury and be regulars in 25/26.
You commented about Timmins. When he's played, IMO he has been solid.</div></div>
At the beginning of the season Villeneuve alternated between having happy feet and deer in the headlights eyes.. That was the big bugaboo in his game. Size, skating, vision, shot, compete, the rest was there. But now the panic in his game has vanished. He is confident out there now. I think at the end of the day, you are looking at a Liljegren clone, a defenseman who is above average across the board but has no one thing that is outstanding.
On a Toronto team, it's a tough ask for either to be full time players given their depth. But as I said earlier, they play immediately in Pittsburgh.
Villeneuve I think is a year away. I'm all about overcooking prospects. Could not care less if they break in a couple years later than someone else.

I agree, but he is the best center in this years UFA class, and theres only three that are reasonably aged.
Can Stephenson be as good outside Vegas?
Can Monahan stay healthy and continue producing?
Beyond those 3 theres a substantial drop off. Its also about what teams want, Philly would be looking for a 1st line center, but since there isnt one, they need a 1B center or 2C, as they have young wingers in Foertser, Tippett, Farabee, Koneckny, Brink, etc.... but lack centers in the organization. So its also about long term. Philly has cap and a load of picks/prospects, but I'd just as likely see them take a smaller cap chance on Stephensen, who probably doesn;t have the offensive upside
