Mitts 2 assists and a plus-3 even with that egregious turnover.

Watch the games. Post All-star+bye-week Mitts has seven points (2+5) in seven games and is a plus-2. Since Donnie Maestro moved Olofsson to another line beginning in Anaheim, Mitts has four points (1+3) in five games and is a plus-5.

Not sure why people are still hating on Mitts. Another in the long list of Sabres whipping boys?
Presently on a 50-point pace (13+37,) is fifth on the team in avg toi/gm amongst forwards and is sixth in points/60 amongst Sabres forwards who've played 35 or more games. In addition, as we've seen the past few games with Olofsson on a different line, Mitts was far from the central problem of that black hole line earlier in the season.

Timo Meier
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>That may not be enough to dump Anderson on them and return Meier.</div></div>
There isnt a Credible Journalist or Columnist who suggest Anderson has anything but a positive trade value.
They do often point out no one's going to "give up the farm " for him as per Mckenzie but there's a lot of teams interested in making a deal.
Islanders were linked in a deal where they'd include Bailey to help offset the Cap
Calgary in a deal where Lucic was likely going to be dumped to make it work
NJD were linked many assumed for a package with Tatar but then he heated up and talks went dead (after 11 points in 11 games he's 0 points in the last 6 ice cold again)
Factor in Hughes basically every month as said he wont trade him unless someone overpays.
I think the only team bold enough is NJD right now as their GM has been very open about the type of player he wants and if he cant land Meier he might focus on Anderson again.
NJD are ready to use Holtz to make a move because he cant crack their top 6 despite overperforming at the AHL level they're just too deep but on MTL Holtz is top 6 easily
Plus its the type of player Hughes constantly says interests him more then picks is high end prospect ready to make the jump

New Meier trade options
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Yeah I’ll make one from a sharks fan pov. Is Detroit rumored on being interested in Meier?</div></div>
No, but Yzerman doesn't generally allow for that.
The way I see it, only a few teams are able to acquire Timo at TDL without sacrificing their tank, yet also able to give up decent pieces and afford his high cap hit going forward. I believe those teams are DET, NJ, BUF, and CAR. This also really limits SJ's market which could potentially lower the asking price.

The Next Dominos to Fall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nhldeadline2</b></div><div>If they were a goalie away from a cup, maybe they'd make a move *like* this. But adding a struggling goalie to a team that is still learning how to defend well isn't the right move for them. It's just an impossibly risky one at that price, when A. UPL is starting to pan out B. 1st round pick winds up 11 in a fantastic draft C. If Levi becomes Demko in 2 years for Vancouver will have to go into hiding
P.s. Even when I was open to Demko earlier - when our goaltending was atrocious - I wouldn't consider moving Levi in the deal</div></div>
Sorry meant to quote KPasty post!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KPasty</b></div><div>Why would it be dumb? They're starting to contend now, Levi is probably 2-3 years away. You have a goalie who is in his prime and can get you in to the playoffs and gain experience while most players on their cheap deals and not making $7M+ like Cozens, Quinn, Power will surely be making in just a couple seasons. Sure its a risk with his injuries, but a dumb move, it is not.</div></div>
Roughly because they aren’t lacking a starter as UPL is playing very serviceable. *Note this isn’t saying UPL is better than Demko, just an unnecessary move for a slight upgrade. Or in other words, a dumb price to pay for that mild upgrade, if that.

The Sorokin Dilemma
1- you’re asking for too much (essentially three 1sts)
2- I’d think that one piece going back to NYI in a trade with Buffalo would be one of their young goalie prospects
*I’ve previously said that Levi is basically “untouchable” from the Sabres side- BUT- in a deal like this, Sorokin would become our goalie “of the future” and thus, become available
So what would a more realistic package (imo) look like?
Like i said. It starts with a goalie prospect
Previously mentioned Levi is the most talented prospect,
but UPL has been breaking into the league this year for us playing quite well
So I’d guess a package would look more like:
Levi, Krebs, ‘23 2nd (since we have 3 of them)
or
UPL, Krebs, and then maybe u could get the ‘24 1st
*if the pick stayed a 2nd, then i could see the Sabres add another forward prospect (not Savoie)- we have a bunch of guys that are “middle6” quality prospects that could be available in a deal like this
All of this is imo of course
1- no Savoie
2- a goalie prospect would be a key part
3- possibly a 2nd (maybe +) instead of the 1st
I do think multiple teams would be interested,
so it is *possible* a bidding war breaks out to increase the price
But in general, i do think you’re asking too much for a goalie
And Sorokin is 27 (be 28 next year), isn’t exactly all that young,
more like “young-ish”

Zach Benson
Sorokin is a very good goalie but would he look the same on a very defensively loose Buffalo team compared to the Islanders who play a defensive style and has D-men who really fit that system? I also question if he'd sign a contract with any term in Buffalo - I think LA would be a much better partner on a trade like this.

More or Less Than Debrincat
Debrincat deserved more…
- Ottawa got a full season
- 2 years younger
- QO $1m less
- three 40g seasons
- Meier contract demands
- strength of draft classes
Meier deserves more…
- deadline fog of war
- can negotiate extension
- connection to captain
I could see it go either way.
I would probably add a prospect (outside top-3) or pick.
But could also see it end up like <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3894952">Mark Stone trade</a>

With Konecny having a career year, he fetches more than that deal. But tbh I’ve never heard of Ostlund so maybe that deal isn’t totally unrealistic if he’s a highly touted guy.

They all wanted him long-term...and the traded asks were based on Stone coming with extension, but he only agreed to sign Vegas offer, so Ottawa dealt him there for paltry return.
I'd have to look at how much cap space they had.

Please don’t misunderstand when I say that because I don’t want to imply it’s “not enough” but it feels to me like Buffalo is offering their spare parts for what is definitely not a spare part for Chicago and other potential suitors.
I would keep it simple, prospect pick leave it at that. For example I would suggest

Bloom
2023 2nd (Middle one of Buffalo/Philly/Vegas)

Frankly I think olofsson is criminally underrated, so Bloom and a second is fine. Although I'd rather have Murphy.

Krebs is really interesting. He definitely has upside and I think his vision/passing is his best trait, but he’s been their fourth line center and somehow turned into a grinder and spark guy. He keeps putting his nose in against bigger guys and isn’t afraid of anyone and the team and fans love it. I think he sticks long term but might be like Tyson Jost (who the Sabres also have).

Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, Ostlund
Rosen I think is almost unanimously the guy people are most comfortable moving but I think it’s because he was a reach when drafted, but he probably has the most high end skill set of the prospects, but he needs time because of his size.
Ostlund would probably be the one for me. I think his floor is a strong reliable, third line center, his ceiling is a second line C. I think he’ll be good, but great. The other three have more upside.

Totally agree but Adams needs to make a move or two to show the kids he'll get them the help needed to get to a higher plateau and that is to make the playoff run. It's really just a point out is they manage to win the games in hand over the Caps. Can't afford a let down like a week and a half ago. Personally I don't wait to the TDL, rather make the moves sooner rather than later. Like you said it's gonna be a fun few months.
