Did you look at any other stats other than points and plus-minus? I don't know this guy either, but there are a lot more metrics than just those two, especially for defensemen.

Who wins
I would say Boston wins this trade. Zucker has 2 years left after this, at a decent cap hit for a top 6 forward, and fits in very well to BOS system. Plus, this is their biggest need. Losing Krug would hurt though, not sure if they could sustain that kind of loss and still be a strong contender.
Pittsburgh gets 1 year of Krug, likely wouldn't resign, they have decent offensive d men already, and have other resigning priorities.
I think Boston wins this trade, but I don't think it makes sense for either team to pursue.

(MTL/STL) - Scandella for 2020 2nd round pick and 2021 conditional 4th round pick
So Montreal effectively turns a 2020 4th into a 2020 2nd and potentially a 2021 4th. LMAO, brilliant asset management.
Montreal gets a better return for Scandella, even after trading him with 20 less games left in the season than when Buffalo traded him.
TL: DR; Jason Boterill looks like a moron

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Pierre Engvall (2 Years / $1,250,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsForEver</b></div><div>I voted yes because it's a solid deal, but I think the money would be better off going to the defense.</div></div>
That's fair enough, Leafs D Core for next year is looking like:
Reilly
Holl
Sandin
Dermott
Liljegren
X
Leafs need solid RHD, and one of Johnsson, Kerfoot or Kap will be on the way out either in the next few weeks, or in the Summer. Doing so will not only swap a bit of cap (~3.2-3.5 out for ~5-6 in - depending on who the leafs get), but it will also give Engvall a spot in the top nine, and get McHeyev into it when he is healthy again.
It would be great to sign Muzzin but his age and the term / $$$ he wants likely prices himself out of TO. Plus, with Reilly, Sandin and Dermott (also plays RD) all playing LD, we have a much larger need at RD
We'll see what happens I guess

He also plays C, he has size (even though he doesn't always use it). He can skate, he can play on the PK, he has offensive upside, although he has slowed down a little bit. He is also young, and under team control after this contract. Pretty tough not to like this deal. It is expensive for the Leafs if he plays 4th line minutes, but he will likely be in our top nine for those two years.

Some more Trade ideas
I don't see Edmonton doing that. Smith has a higher cap hit than Gagner, and at this point I think Edmonton would be more comfortable with Gagner (they need bottom six guys), than Smith. As far as Puljujarvi for Howden, I think that is pretty close.
Small sample size, but you could probably get more for Strome. If the Florida offer you have there was the best they could get, they should keep him, more value to the team. I don't think they should trade him at all, finally starting to find his game and is at a point per game (also RFA at the end of the year).
I think that Kreider deal is decent, but Canucks (while I am sure would like to add another forward), don't really have the cap space for it. Additionally, they already dont have a 1st rounder this year (assuming they make the playoffs), I would doubt that they trade their second. They likely just leave it to the team to show everyone wat they can do this year.
Don't touch Kovalchuk with a ten foot pole. Also, it makes little sense for a team trying to get younger to trade for a guy on his way out of the league, making 6.25 on the cap this year and next year. Not worth the roster spot really.

You would be lucky to trade Carter without trading another asset, let alone getting a top prospect and a 2nd round pick.

trade with jackets
As far as Laine trades go, this one is pretty damn close.
For Winnipeg, you are trading away Eric Comrie, who is a good goalie prospect, just hasn't quite made it to the consistent NHL level. He would be the Jets third goalie this year, and I believe he would need to clear waivers (maybe not). For Columbus, they need to have a lot of faith in Korpisalo, and adding Comrie can give them another option between the pipes in case they decide to go for a tandem.
They are then trading what could be the next Ovechkin, just doesn't have a good attitude, and I don't know how he can return to the locker-room and face his team mates after those comments he made. It isn't ideal for him to be going, but it does offer more cap flexibility moving forward (in addition to Byfulgien's relief in this scenario). They also trade one of their top forward prospects in Vesalainen.
In return, they get back Josh Anderson, who will get a raise after this year, and can potentially break the 30 goal mark this year. He is young, and plays a strong physical game that Winnipeg would value. He does not have as much skill as Laine, but that's where Ryan Murray comes in. A top 4, LD that is needed by Winnipeg, after losing 3 players (Trouba, Myers and Chiarot), and now Byfuglien in this scenario. They would still be weak on the right side, but this gives them a solid LD moving forward. They also get Sonny Milano, who needs a change of scenery to see if he can find his game, and a 2022 1st round pick.
For Columbus, they get an elite scorer after losing out on Panarin and Duchene. They also get a top forward prospect that could slot into their top nine this year, and be relatively cheap for a few years, and they get a goalie prospect that can prove to be helpful down the road. They are strong on defense, and could afford to lose a guy like Murray.
I like this deal from both sides, good job on this one!

Maybe something like this could work
I don't think the Leafs would trade Hyman to save ~600K in cap, not to mention Jankowski is up in a year and Hyman still had two left. Jankowski is a center, but Hyman is definitely the better player at this point, and plays an instrumental role on the Tavares and Marner line (he also scored 20 goals last year). I'm not sure of an alternative to this move, but I don't see Hyman being moved by the Leafs, especially if it is another forward coming back (as opposed to a defenseman).

Three-Team Marner Trade TML Side
If the Leafs were to trade Perreault and a 1st for a 5th (basically nothing), that implies that Perreault and the 1st essentially cancel each other out. If you factor that in to the Marner deal, you are essentially trading Laine, a 2nd and a 3rd for Marner, in which the Leafs would easily decline.

Duchene amp Stone
Ottawa is never doing this deal, and here is why:
- Kulikov would be a cap dump, so he actually subtracts value on WPG's trade
- Marko Dano isn't really much of anything, so that's very little value
- Bryan Little just had his extension kick in for 6 x 5.2 million, and while that the contract itself isn't terrible, he is 31 years old, and doesn't fit into Ottawa's rebuild mentality (should a trade like this take place).
As for the rest of the assets, they have the actual value in this trade.
- The 1st round pick is an essential piece, as Ottawa gave theirs to Colorado. Even though this would likely be a 25-31st pick, it at least gives them something in the first round.
- Sami Niku and Kristian Vesalainen are both top prospects in WPG's pool, and both would make sense for Ottawa to acquire.
Those three assets alone (and let's face it, the other three either have little to no value (Dano), a cap dump (Kulikov), or don't fit into a rebuild (Little)) will not land you Duchene and Stone, hell, they may not accept that for Stone as a three-for-one. I should add into this that I am not an Ottawa Senators fan, which I feel is worth saying due to the fact that fans seem to over-value players of their own team.
Those three pieces would likely be enough to land Duchene (maybe even one of them, the 1st and a lesser prospect).
From Ottawa's standpoint, it would make more sense to trade them to different places. For starter's, it is easier for team's to afford one of their salaries, rather than both, especially when you take into account how difficult it is to make these blockbuster-like moves in the season. Additionally, trading them to separate teams makes it easier for those teams to work on extensions before the trade, allowing Ottawa to maximize on their return. Speaking of maximizing on return, both players will no-doubt have an asset return of a 1st round pick, prospect and likely another piece, so by trading to two different teams, they could potentially get 2 1st round picks, which they could either use to move up if they have a guy they like, or just take two players in the first round, something that is sure to help with their rebuild.

If the Leafs and Nylander do not agree to a contract then Nylander cannot play for the Leafs, but they still own his rights. If they do not sign him by December 1st, he is not eligible to play for the remainder of the season, and must either be signed or qualified by July 1st, 2019.
So to answer your question, no to both.

The trouble with that is WPG doesn't really need picks, they would want serviceable young players that can contribute to their already great team. They do not need to focus on building through the draft as much as they need to get a solid top 4 D replacement or 2C. Thankfully for them, Niku looks to be promising, and Roslivic will get his shot at 2C, and worse case scenario Little isn't the worst option either.

You aren't wrong. He took 25% (~200 FO's) of his total season's FO's after he joined TB, so he definitely was used on the wing more. But that has more to do with the depth at center in TB, rather than how good Miller is at that position. He clicked with Stamkos, and you aren't going to move Stammer to the Wing, and since Miller is versatile and can play any forward position, he mostly plays the wing there. Even on the second line, Johnson and Point are both very solid 2C options. At this point, I would say TB's need for LW is greater than C, and that looks to be the case for a while (with Point being young and under team control, and Johnson on a good, long term deal.
~Short Version~
TB has great center depth, and they need Miller to play LW either on the first or second line. Miller however, when he did take FO's, was successful (both in NY and TB).

Miller can play center. Last season he took 805 FO's, winning 437 of them (54.3% FO Percentage). Those are good numbers for a center.
