Ill elaborate: Yak is a bust!! Why at this point would you trade for him? There has been this fascination on this board to trade for yak, i dont get it. BUT you make it worse by giving him 3.5 million for what!! 12 goals! you have that with Read.
Lastly, If you are the guy in charge of the Redwings how do you sell to the fans and owners why you traded a decent goal scorer with an even better contract for two 4th line players????????

Just because they're available doesn't mean they have to take them. They still have to respect the cap also..... If they take a bunch of expensive guys, they'll have to take a lot of cheaper contracts in order to stay under the cap.

Man just start over.</i></div></div>
Just trying to understand....and my point is that under the rules Vegas has to take one player from each team, correct? Then if that's true I am asking if all 30 teams leave high price players available how does Vegas manage that..What am I missing?

Zucker and Granny and rights to dumba for Schenn, Haag and a pick is interesting but you would have to sell me on Zucker and Granny</i></div></div>
Granny is a hard sell, if you want him as a 2C he has the history of it. At wing (where he's playing this year) I can't do anything except point to small sample of the Playoffs and Worlds. He's is one of those players that steps up when the stakes are higher. A playmaker that needs to shoot more often. Top-6 FWD
Zucker was white hot to open the year, then went ice cold (so did the rest of the team). Got concussed during our outdoor game and looked off the rest of the season. Maybe came back too soon? Mid-6 FWD. Has a 20g season, fast, and likes to score in the first minute of the game.
Granny+Zucker+b FWD prospect/late pick for Scheen? Adding in Dumba really throws off values. Pommer is a bad trade for Philly.</i></div></div>
Sold! Granny and Zucker plus a pick for Schenn. Flyers need more forwards, if they get two for 1 and a pick, done deal!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gavinray</b></div><div><i>Hoffman is much better than Simmonds by a large margin. I think you are 100% correct, as far as it being a wise trade, not on Hoffman being far superior. But again I was basing this trade on the assumption that Ottawa couldn't come to terms with Hoffman and if Philly presented this deal I think Ottawa takes it because: 1) Simmonds can score 2) Simmonds is a leader, physically and mentally 3) Simmonds contract is probably the worse contract a player at his level has and 4) you are receiving a much coveted 2nd round pick.
If the Flyers keep Schenn they dont/cant make this move.

Flyers Wild Trade. Please respond
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div><i>Brodin is the last Dman I want the Wild to trade. He's can play either side, and is the only Dman (not named Suter) that I see as a true top pair guy. Dumba has that ceiling, but probably ends up as a second pair/PPQB (a bigger version of Spurgeon).
I'd rather trade Scandella or Spurgeon (both are about at their ceiling). Reilly should replace/pass Scandella, Dumba should replace/pass Spurgeon in time.
Zucker and Granny are the two (not named Pommer) FWDs I'd look to move first. Nino and Coyle are the two FWD's I least want to trade.
Tuch is too interesting for me to part with yet. Get him out of the tire fire of Iowa and he might really excel. Iowa should be much better this year, but at best they are a mid pack AHL team.
For a young (ELC) true 1C I'd be open to trading just about anyone. Kunin is the best chance we have at that, but probably is more of a 2C (early yet, but watching him a UW last year). JEE is 2/3C from random stats I've seen (can't say that I've ever watched him play live/tv).</i></div></div>

Well then, i guess all is good in Ottawa.
I do think you underestimate the value of Simmonds. And to blame coaching on why a player hasn't performed up to expectations is one sided. The coach and organization probably knows Hoffman better than you so if he wasnt on the 1st line power play and if he played on the 4th line, why do you think that was? And how many post does every player hit during the course of the season? Thats the player hitting the post not the coaching.
And if he isnt playing all 82 games who's fault is that? You are making me think that maybe I over spent on Hoffman.

Wild - Flyers trade
Great deal for the Wild not so much for Philly.
The cost (not to mention the age and years of contract) of Pominville would be about what the Flyers would spend on Schenn, so why would the Flyers do that? You might say that we are getting Dumba in return, and while that is a good thing it isnt for the Flyers. The Flyers are in desperate need of wingers not young defensemen, that we have enough of. So why not just keep Schenn then? Well my initial trade was based on the assumption that the Flyers and Schenn couldn't come to terms.

Flyers Wild Trade. Please respond
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div><i>From a Wild fan's perspective - I might agree with Zach above that it seems fair, but I don't think I would pull the trigger on it. I am a big Brayden Schenn fan and many of my rosters on here involve me "acquiring" him, but... Coyle is a very, very good all-around player who is just starting to figure out how good he can be. He is also signed to a very team-friendly deal and that adds a whole bunch to his value in a trade. Alex Tuch is the player the Wild have never had: Big, physical, fast, great shot, etc. I've watched him in the past two prospect camps and in a few of his college games and I believe he is the real deal and a future 25-30 goal scorer at the NHL level. So...I would have a very difficult time letting him go!
You can keep Nick Schultz, I didn't like his soft play when he was here anyway. I can't say I know enough about Laughton and Leier to properly assess their value in this trade. Replace the lesser of the two with Konecny and we can re-evaluate this deal.</i></div></div>
Laughton is a wild card. I think the best he'll be is bottom six, but a good bottom six, one that will be a good two way player, has speed , wont hurt you defensively and will chip in with goals. Leier will only be a call up player as a stop gap, that could crack the lineup as a speedy 4th line player.
Like I said I believed that Minnesota was taking the gamble so I agree with you on adding Konecny but the draft pick goes away. Of course I am assuming you are correct on Tuch.

No way I'd rather have Jimmy Howard's contract over AMac's when it is the same term and more money. Plus I don't like the lineup with Yak on line two and Laughts as a 3rd Line center. I think the Flyers are better off with their lines going Schenn, Raffl, Laughton on the LW and looking for help at C or RW. It's not bad, but it doesn't really make the team any better. When Coots becomes our 3rd Line C that is when the Flyers will be good.</i></div></div>
Nate, good points. Although Howard's contract is 2 years less than AMac's. I think everyone misses the fact that Couts is a third liner.

I dont know what the fascination is with Yak, he is a bust. Kane it seems is not a locker room guy. Although I think you gave up too much for Shatty, the blues would probably want more. The deal would have to include a either number 1 or 2 conditional draft pick to the flyers if Shatty doesnt resign.

Rangers Bruins Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nick628</b></div><div><i>Up there with some of the worst trades I've seen on here lmao. No way in hell conference rivals make trades like this.</i></div></div>
Anyone can criticize without explaining. Let me try and break it down for you.
With the window to win a cup closing fast for the Rangers they make this deal because:
Chara provides the necessary leadership required to win and they believe he has one good year left in him.
While Krejci isnt Kreider he also has the leadership and cup experience to push the guys around him and proves to be a better asset than Nash. At the end of the day if it doesnt work they at least received a pick and decent prospects.
Boston had to give up two of their prospects to get Kreider. The contracts of Chara and Krejci, while not off setting Nash still retain money for acquiring two NHL defensemen, which they desperately need. They sell the big body and goal scoring ability of Nash to LA to get disgruntled Dustin Brown who plays like a man with something to prove, along with the stability of the underrated Klein and the steady Holden and hope it can push the B's back into the playoffs.

Nyquist is a fringe player? Essentially its Nyquist for Letang which is a good deal for both, in fact the Pens (who I hate) are getting the better of the trade. There is a reason Hagelin cant stick with a team, the Pens were lucky to catch lightening in a bottle with him, so the second part of that trade-Ericksson,Jurco and Pulkkinen for Hags is a steal for Pens.
You make a great point about Howard.

Blues are in a "win now mode" so while they are taken on money they are still under the cap by 2million, get a legit goal scorer in Nash and a decent replacement for Shatty at a decent price. If the Blues dont win next year or the year after then all they are stuck with is Girardi's 3.75 for two more years, of which they could buy out. It is a gamble. Me personally, as a Flyers Fan I would never want Nash. Question is how desperate are the Blues?
