<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>You can say Teasdale doesn't have a shot, but there have been many instances where 19 Year old, late round picks make the team over 1st round prospects with lots of potiential. IE Batherson, Steenbergen over Suzuki last year. Every player gets a fair shot, something I like about team canada, what round you were drafted in, means nothing</div></div>
I don't disagree with that, Steenbergen and Batherson were having exceptional years though, it's the reason why I put Stelio Matteos, Ian Scott, and Trey Fix-Wolansky on this team. Teasdale is having a great year overall at just under a PPG, but not enough that shows potential elite status needed for Canada. Steenbergen was pretty much double that and Batherson had over 1.5PPG through 25 games. I stand by Teasdale doesn't have a shot and may not even get an invite.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>Usually Canada rerfrains from using players that young simply because their talent is so wide. In order to make the team, chances are you have to outwork/outplay a 19 year old that was a 1st round pick in the NHL. The reason I say Teasdale has a chance is because his work ethic is among the best (judging from what I saw in rookie camp/tournament) He has size and weight so he can be an efficient 4th line energy guy on the team. Chances are he doesn't make it, but I have him as a Dark Horse</div></div>
All of the forwards I put on the team are 1999 (19) witht he exception of Akil Thomas, Barrett Hayton, as some 18 year olds need to be included and they have been great, plus the honourable mentions only included one who wasn't a 99, being Lafreniere for that reason. Teasdale doesn't have a shot.

There are quite a few stretch players already in my opinion. I came up with a short list of 24 forwards and had to cut that in half. (Teasdale wasn't even on that for me) There a few players in that who are more productive that bring that same element though in Alexis Lafreniere, Isaac Ratcliffe, Ben Jones, D'Artagnan Joly. Plus there's also Michael Rasmussen who I completely forgot about that I won't be surprised if he's sent back to the W.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>STLBlues17</b></div><div>Robert Thomas played a great game Saturday and the Blues don’t really have a great option at 4th line center. I could be wrong, but I think he’ll stick</div></div>
I'd be very happy for the guy, I'm a Hamilton Bulldogs Season Ticket Holder, but with already struggling to fit him into the lineup with Thomas, Kyrou, Barbashev, Blais, Sundqvist, and Soshnikov all competing for a 4th line role, plus Robby Fabbri coming back into the lineup. It just seems like an easy decision to let Thomas go back to the OHL and retain his Entry Level status set back another year, even though the NHL would be best for his development. Team Canada would likely give him the C.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cs_7</b></div><div>I think Lafreniere will make the team</div></div>
I definitely think he's good enough, but it all falls on returning players in Formenton and Thomas would likely be put on the wing too, plus Canada tends to avoid undrafted guys. With how commercial the world juniors are here, if it comes down to a close battle for final positions, they'll always take that guy who is a 1st or 2nd round pick since his name is better known to sell. Last year Steenbergen kinda broke the trend but his stats in the WHL were too good to not have, similar to how I've added Wolansky this year as that 13th forward.

New Gm Impact
1. Toronto would never accept this
2. This would put Tampa in an even harder cap situation compared to Callahan and Coburn coming off of the books within the next 2 seasons.
3. That means potentially 4 years in a row for Tampa without a 1st Round Pick (If they win the Cup this year, which they are a definite contender at least)
4. For those reasons, Tampa wouldn't accept this either

(SJS / OTT) - Karlsson, Perron for Tierney, DeMelo, Norris, Balcers & picks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>This is a franchise altering type trade. Dorion whiffed on it. He traded the best player the franchise has ever had, for what? I'm higher on Josh Norris than most are, but he probably maxes out as a 2C. Balcers is nice, but he's a complementary piece. Tierney and Demelo are just roster players that they don't need. They got a 2020 1st, when they still don't have a 2019 1st. Two more picks are nice, but the chances any of this becomes worth just 1 season of Erik Karlsson is nuts.
Dorion has whiffed on two huge trades for this franchise, and it's left them in a hell hole. He now has my distinction as the worst GM in the game right now. The worst roster in the game and no first round pick or elite prospects to show for it.</div></div>
I'm agreeing with you on most things, but they got some prospects... Chabot made the jump last year and is now automatically the number 1 in Ottawa pretty much, there's Tkatchuk, Brown, White, Formenton, Batherson, Luchuk, and now Norris. Defence prospects are slim beyond Bernard-Docker though.

Minnesota Wild signed Jason Zucker (5 Years / $5,500,000 AAV)
Dude just does not have the history to support this beyond this past season. If he continues that kind of production it's an amazing deal, otherwise overpaid. Should've gone with a bridge deal. 4.5M for 2 years makes more sense plus gets him to UFA territory and a potentially even better contract if he excels. Seems like a player who doesn't have faith in himself to succeed. I get that it's great job security he has now but if he continued his production for another season or two he could easily be making 6.5M-7M per year. Especially if the cap continues to rise.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rodzikhockey93</b></div><div>LOTTTTTTTS of room next year to resign Vasilevsky and Cirelli. Also Montreal isnt taking that for a terrible contract in Killorn</div></div>
Cirelli I'm not worried about, he's not looking at a long-term contract yet and hasn't put up any numbers worthy of a big raise yet. With cap raises Vasilevskiy could still comfortably get as much as 7M-8M AAV depending on how fast it goes up. Regardless he's an RFA and it wouldn't shock me if Tampa gives him a 1 year of whatever remaining cap they have until another cap raise to give him the big dollars. Which to win, there are many players who would take the one year discount, many already have it in their contracts for some years. As for the Montreal trade. That's fair value and arguably a gift for Montreal. A guy who can consistently get 40-50 points even though he's currently sitting on Tampa's 3rd/4th line not even playing with Stamkos or Kucherov is the absolute right dollar value, the only thing bad about his contract is the term and risk of his play declining after the first couple seasons. For a 4th Round Pick that only 20% of those players ever suit up in the NHL at all let alone contribute, that is a gift.

I only count 4, maybe 5. Cirelli's not really a rookie, he'll still be Calder eligible technically but getting to game 7 of the ECF and actually earning the spot, not due to injuries speaks for something, but I get your point.

I think the future is secure without Sergachev and Point even, the biggest concern would simply be the recycling of prospect that would likely have to come in each year, of course, that's only in the event we actually get Karlsson.

He's worth 9.5 this year. This'll probably be a good contract for the first 5 years after that Tampa will have to keep hoping the cap raises to afford him when his production starts to slow.

Making it happen
None of the other teams would accept those deals. Only way Callahan gets moved by himself would require taking a bad contract in return or retaining max salary of 2.9M for 2 years. From the Rangers, the best example with retaining salary would be NYR trades Matt Beleskey to TB for Ryan Callahan and a conditional 7th. Definitely not worth a 2nd Round Pick.
Tyler Johnson is not worth that many picks. For just a 2nd Round Pick, okay...
Many of the players in the Ottawa deal serve no use. Tampa has no interest in Anderson or Macarthur, and Ottawa has no interest in Domingue, Koekkoek, or Bournival. The rumoured asking price is a returning player, top prospect, and a 1st Round Pick in 2019. Which Tampa can't even move their 2019 pick as it's conditionally moved to NYR in the McDonagh trade. If you want to include Killorn, the trade would be along the lines of OTT trades Erik Karlsson to Tampa Bay for Mikhail Sergachev, Alex Killorn (or Tyler Johnson), 2020 1st Round Pick, plus probably Brayden Point.

Even so, should not have been a first-round pick. The Knights games I saw both before and after the trade, he didn't stand out at all in his shifts. Maybe I tuned in on "off" nights but that kind of inconsistency should not be taken in the first round. Anyone going in the first round should be getting noticed and making a difference even if it's not on the score sheet.
