If they're moving Chiarot, it's to relieve the logjam at D. It makes zero sense for them to bring in a rental D like Brodie.</div></div>
"why take a top pair guy with one less year for an overpaid 6/7???" like seriously. The could flip brodie or dump another D if they really wanted too. Also this would bring them to what 8 NHL D? Injuries happen, having that many isn't the worst thing in the world

A Nylander for Edvinsson swap is at least in the realm of somewhat fair.
In this deal the leafs take on a #6/7 D who makes way too much for the next 2 years and a 4th (which is negligable) for a top pair shutdown D who can play both sides on a pretty decent deal, and Jarnekrok whos a decent versitle winger player on a fair deal.
The wings would be lucky to not add a sweetener to dump Chiarot, let alone take the top shutdown D on a top 5 team and a decent winger for him

AGM's here always undervalue leafs players in trades. ie: McCann > Willy or Brodie for a 5th.
Like these are players in prominent roles on a top-5 team, they have value

Some pretty reasonable deals here. I wouldn't do the columbus deal from either perspective but i don't think it's bad value in a vacuum.
I'd also keep Holmberg since he's waiver eligible and center depth is a good thing.
Willy or Lindholm plus a pick is fair. Willy is better but Lindholm plays the premium position.
Leafs could use one more D and Seeler is a good bottom pair guy that would be a good fit

That comment was obviously me poking fun at people who don't think T.J Brodie has value. Vasilevsky played poor against the leafs, should he be traded for a 4th? Devon toews had a poor last series as an islander and he was traded for 2 seconds and that looks like a steal for Colorado.
Not saying Brodie is Toews (age and contract play a part) but if they had to sell at the TDL there is no way he gets less than a 1st+. He is very good defensively.
This whole post was about a lot of people on here thinking every leaf player has 0 value in a trade ie: T.J Brodie isn't worth a 4th rounder

"why would a contending team want a top pair D who exceeds in tough matchups for a mid round pick?" is exactly the logic I'm talking about.

I agree that Willy wouldn't be a target for Carolina. I don't mind that as the feedback since it's based in reality.
I'm more just clowning on someone putting in a decently value trade or even a trade (ie: Willy for Lindholm) and people being like "no way dude, not a fair deal at all" and the only reason is leafs

I don't get this deal. He's an offence only guy, they have that for a lot cheaper in Timmins. They should be looking for a good Defensive D-man to replace Holl and be part of a shutdown pair, now they have to hope Liljegren can make that jump.
At least it's just a 1 year, not a terrible deal but i think it's bad from an opportunity cost point of view

Murray was dumped for a 3rd and 7th rounder with 1 year extra term. for a team that's in rebuild/tank mode it's a good way to both utilize cap space and have poor goalie perfomances to help the tank (ala Mrazek) Leafs could retain a bit to make it more digestible since the real $ is high. they could also throw in Hirvonen, but feels a little rich for a fine 3c with term

Toronto Maple Leafs signed David Kämpf (4 Years / $2,400,000 AAV)
I like Kampf but this is a bit too much for a bit too long. Max I would've done would be 2 mill x 3 taking into account the leafs lack of center depth and how poor this FA class is.
Kampf is a good 4C he can hard match, and pk and win draws. There is value in that but his offence is basically nothing and his best hockey was played with Engvall who's gone.
The issue with a one dimensional player like this is that if that one dimension diminishes he'll be a league min quality player. Way more likely he under performs this deal than over performs. Optimistically he provides fair value

right D remake and a willy trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wojohawk</b></div><div>LOL at that being a good trade for the Hawks. They don't need "help" getting to the cap floor....they are litterally ONE 4-5 million contract to either a UFA or a dump from filling out the lineup with league minimum contracts to reach the floor. Timmins who is about to turn 25 is not "young"...especially not for a rebuilding team at ground zero. Yes a late 4th technically is a "future", but for a team like the Hawks with no less than 15 better picks in this and the next draft, you have utterly failed to give the Hawks ANY reason to look at Murray. Compound that Murray would be the 5th goalie under contract (likely forcing a buyout of someone) and the Hawks have 3 RHD on big contracts with Regula needing some NHL time and if they keep Mitchell even more options.</div></div>
I love how much of a **** people can be on here, maybe I the idiot for ever posting and attracting you mouth breathers. You act like a simple cap dump seen on the regular is ridiculous, Also the "3 RHD" argument like injuries never happen or like the hawks wouldn't trade Connor Murphy (which they most likely will before his deal is up). Same argument with the 5 goalies. Or They even buyout Murray (it's a cap dump so they could).
I'm pretty open to having a normal discourse on here but **** people like you come in acting like the biggest assholes. It's fake hockey trades ffs

There is also a cap floor they need to hit, The leafs took on Murray for 2 years remaining on the deal for a 3rd and a 7th so I don't think it's crazy

(TOR/WSH) - Sandin for Gustafsson, 1st (BOS)
Sad to see Sandin go. He has the brains to be a top 4d and I wouldn't doubt he becomes one. His size and skating are limitng factors, he's not tiny and hes not the slowest guy on the ice but it limits him from taking away time and space.
I would've like to see him step into Reilly's role but with him locked up plus Mccabe on the left side for 2 more years Tor isn't a good spot for him to develop. Better to trade him now than have his value lower playing a 3rd pair role for another year.
Good deal for both side imo
