I have Cowan there. Hildeby maybe, goalies have ups and downs in development. Would expect him to be what Woll was last year in this year.

I think a more CBJ-esque move, smart or not, though, would to be to trade him for Marner and give him a ridiculous contract. Which I mean, not saying I'd be against if we don't make some big strides this year

literally precisely what moving him to wing but still having him take draws does. Except doesn't make Willy be the de-facto C in the D-Zone. Doesn't have to play down low, he'd be very strong on the wall in the D zone, and can park in the radius of the net in the o-zone and do what he does best without having to hustle to the same extent to take C responsibilities in the D zone.

Roslovic just seems like another Domi without the big time passion for Toronto and the physicality edge, no need for him really. And like for that matter JT is still a far better C than Roslovic, I want JT at LW but not if we're just getting a C you can't trust in that place. Guess for a cheap add maybe but yea not really my rationale with this

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Jenner isn't available, according to CBJ fans, Jarmo, and Darren Dreger.
If he was (and ignoring Danforth), a 1st, top prospect, and additional piece of 2nd-3rd round quality is probably close...but for a team still trying to pull ourselves out of a rebuild sooner rather than later, the pick has to be 2024 and the prospect can't be just an okay RD prospect (we have SO many already).</div></div>
fair, appreciate it. Doesn't have to be Jenner I guess, more just looking for a reliable C that could shift JT over to the wing in the ~4M price range

Also, no point having Jenner on that line...</div></div>
I'm saying I think JT is still a great player but foot speed was never his strength and as he slows down and the league gets younger and faster, he'll be far better suited playing on the wing while still taking draws

if LAK keeps slipping
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Leafsfan98</b></div><div>It kind of does... Centres take the draw... doesn't mean the winger can't be the low guy (some systems have that where the centre and winger swap places) and dot he centre work, but the centre takes the draw and Tavares is the best at it rn</div></div>
older centers shift to wing and still take the draws very often, this isn't some new idea. JT would literally just take the draw and then shift back to wing. Giroux most recent example. Heck even Leafs used to have Nylander take all off hand draws for Matthews when they were on the same line in the early days - different example but same idea.

just because he's on the wing doesn't mean he can't take the draws. Much more to the C position than that and I think he's better suited on the wing as he slows down

rationale is giving him the same money he'd get on a 3yr contract roughly, but spread over the 8 years so we can chop the AAV way down for when it really matters (ie. now while we're still chasing a cup), knowing that it'll be ugly at the end but who cares

unless guentzel would sign for under 9M this is redundant, Leafs decline. If we move Marner its to restore some balance, not add another top heavy forward salary

Would do a deal centered around an extended Marner. Worth considerably more than Huberdeau was even then - younger, better 2 way game, comparable production.
Also - wouldn't agree that Brady is worth quite as much as Matthew, who was coming off a ~115 point season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jd__</b></div><div>Even with Lyubushkin being 50% retained, almost an overpayment. Yes he would do better in Toronto but he has been THAT bad in Anaheim this year. If Toronto really wants him this is the right deal but that’s my thoughts on it.
From what’s been seen in the past, Nedeljkovic is a great backup, hasn’t had luck as a starter, so depending on how the Leafs would use him here, changes the trades outcome, but by the looks of things you have him scratched which is a bit odd
I like the Kuraly trade brings some depth into the bottom 6 for not much of a cost
Larsson trade seems even on both sides, just depends on if Seattle wants to keep Tolvanen or not, Kraken are getting good value back though.
Perry signing is nice too
Not sure why the Leafs bring Bogosian back</div></div>
Thanks.
Lyubushkin - willing to maybe overpay a bit because of familiarity with the team, has played well with Rielly in the past so if thats the tier of defenseman that I'm looking to acquire he'd be my top target in that range
Ned - just need a solid 3rd goalie that could maybe go on a run in the playoffs if you had to turn to him, only scratched bc Jones has been playing well in Toronto too, they'd be more like 2A/2B
Kuraly - agree, and like having another C option as I don't 100% trust Domi defensively as a C but he's been really good
Tolvanen - has a lot of hits and could complement a top 6, agree not sure if they'd move him but that's why I threw in Robertson to compensate - all good if not though, could slide Jarnkrok up and trade for another 4th liner
Bogo - want a right hand shot depth D, we don't really have any. Doesn't have to be him, but solid vet with team familiarity wouldn't be bad. Not important though

If he became available I'd hope to see Toronto all over it, one of the few players I'd be willing to include Knies in a deal for

Marner with extension for Tkachuk in the offseason, as the base of a deal. Leafs get the shakeup they need if they lose again this spring, Sens get a star two-way playmaker to spark offense on any line he's on.
