We are introducing a new way to sign contracts in the GM Game. Starting right now, teams can declare to match a player’s irl contract. You can do this by putting a player’s name in the brand new “Contract Matching” thread. Once you put a player there…
- that post can NOT be edited
- that player can NOT have a contract negotiated by BOG
- that player can NOT be traded until they have signed a contract IRL

This process is for both UFAs and RFAs and the rules apply to both groups. You may not negotiate a contract with BOG then choose to take the IRL offer. As soon as you send in an offer to a BOG member you no longer have the option to match an irl deal and same thing vise versa.
Only for this offseason are teams allowed to put players they already signed (or another team signed) in that thread and match what they get irl NO MATTER WHAT. You may NOT renegotiate a current deal to be less than it already is. If you are unhappy with the deal, you can elect to take the risk and go with the IRL deal.

We will also be remaking a GM Game Trust group that will vote on BOG contracts and help with other things.

Playoff voting is now starting! GMs MUST vote for every series unless they are the GM of one of the involved teams OR own a 1st round pick of an involved team. Round 1 voting will close Wednesday May 11th at 11:59est and results should be posted sometime that weekend. Here are the forms for each playoff series:

There is some unfortunate news regarding WAR and the scoring system. Due to a couple reasons WAR will be removed from the scoring calculation including this scoring period (FEB, 2/16-3/15). The reasons are:

1. WAR data is really behind around 7-10 days. This means that for scoring periods there will never be accurate data and they will be overlapping. This would also push playoffs back
2. Due to me not knowing that WAR was behind, the FEB WAR is actually half of JAN and all of FEB. This makes for a really messed up scoring calculation.
3. WAR is not a good stat for small sample sizes which is how this game is scored. Because the game is scored in monthly periods and WAR is designed to be a larger sample size form of analysis, it doesn't mesh well with our game.
4. It is extremely difficult and maybe even impossible for the WAR and GS to be weighed equally, due to WAR being a stat that loves negative numbers and GS having very little negatives.

I have gone back and removed WAR from the calculation of the standings for this past month and it will not be counted for the future. I will keep the player cards as mixed because as said above, WAR is great for big sample sizes which is what the player cards are. I'll do the same for the award races.

The standings have not changed that much so we as BOG don't think its that big a problem to remove it for FEB.

<strong>Quick Update:</strong>

I’ve made a new version of the skater cards on the scoring sheet with some new data and I’d like to give a quick rundown of everything new.

- Season totals now include pace. If you look in the player bio box at the top you’ll see their totals and a number in parentheses next to the totals. That number is how many of that stat the player is on pace for per 82 games.

- xCapHit: This looks at how many standing points a player has and using that it figures out how much a player is worth THIS SEASON. It works like this; the average team records 91 points in a full season so let’s use McDavid for example. Combining both WAR and GS he is on pace for 17.7 standing points. Divide 17.7 by 91 and you get 19.45%. That means McDavid is worth 19.45% of a team’s cap hit which comes out to around $15,820,000. I will be the first to admit this is not super accurate but it's a fun addition.

- I have added monthly goals and assists to the monthly breakdown section of the card. You also now find the WAR and GS %’s in the monthly breakdown box as well.

- I have also added a graph in the bottom right corner. The graph is data from the past 3 seasons (19-20, 20-21, 21-22). The black line is the total (GS=WAR). The blue line is WAR and the red is Game Score. Those are added together to get the total which is why the two lines are always below the total.

<a href="/users/BOG" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@BOG</a> I know we implemented a UFA rule of substituting a signing from the next year to get an extra in the current year. I have an idea as an incentive for Playoff teams.

1st round teams - Extra 5% Bonus on UFA Signings (on team during TDL).
2nd Round teams - Extra 10 % Bonus on UFA Signings (on team during TDL).
3rd Round teams - Extra 10% Bonus on UFA Signings and 2 extra FA bonus points.
Stanley Cup teams - Extra UFA Signing (two teams get 2 UFA signings without taking away from the next year).

This will give an incentive to those who compete and either have a plethora of rentals, lack of draft picks, lack of assets, etc. This will help keep our game in balance and potentially continue for more than two seasons. I know Nick mentioned the decrease of potential UFA's if we gave all playoff teams an extra signing, so this is my proposal that allows only 2 more UFAs to be extended without using the next years signing.
