How this unfolds is open to debate
Just bc theyre winning now doesn't mean the trade was good for them. There's also way more that goes into why the Rangers are now good and its not bc they lost Buch. Their new coach and elite goaltending are the 2 main reasons. If the trade was good then they wouldn't be in the market for a RW rn while Buchnevich is on pace for his best season yet.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Islesforthecup</b></div><div>You completely didnt get it did you. Rn the rangers have 4-5 guys (not including hajek) that are gonna need a spot on the team. What im saying is theyre not going to trade for another guy who needs a spot for the next 5 years wo sending back 1 of those players. Hajek is at best a 6/7 d. He doesnt require opening a spot for him to play. Guys like lindgren, miller (jones and robertson when theyre ready) will require a spot to play everyday. Therefore any trade that brings in mcdonagh is gonna have 1 of them going back.</div></div>
Wowwwww no way they have to send back one of them, which is what I literally said above!!! Hmmmmm who would've ever thought that one???

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Islesforthecup</b></div><div>Do you not understand what you read? Mcdonagh hhas 5 years left on his deal, hajek isnt in their long term plans. Yes maybe this year hajek wouldve played some games and now he isnt bc of mcdonagh but that wasnt the point. The point is when youre looking at the next 3-4 years, and towards the long term future, whos spot is he taking. If it was a 1 year deal i would have no problem with it bc hes only "taking a spot" from hajek, but its a long term deal and it causes problems when lindgren, miller, robertson, jones, and now mcdonagh all have to play. Logjam is only a problem when there are guys that have to play. If libor hajek ends up wo a spot, who cares. Hes not part of any long term plan and therefore doesnt have to play.</div></div>
McDonagh would have his own spot then Lindgren and Miller, everyone else could be traded for picks or a center or something like that. Its not that hard to figure out dude. The rangers have a logjam problem rn so swapping him out McDonagh doesn't change anything other than give the rangers a solid and dependable player instead of a bunch of maybes

If you forgot what the rangers line up looks like, hajek plays the left side and was playing there this season, so yes he would be taking his spot..... isles fan tryna talk to me ab the rangers lmao

Idk ab you but I'm taking McDonagh over all the LD prospects on the team next year. Atleast one of them would most likely go back in a trade so its really not a big deal

The right side has better pieces, the left side has more pieces. Either way the rangers arent trading for a dman wo moving one out.
That being said i think a mcdonagh-fox pairing would be scary as hell but thats a different story.</div></div>
Not all of those guys are gonna be in the NHL and a number of them could be involved in trades for a center

Theyre not that log jammed at LD, if he played the right side then it'd be a problem

I think they can definitely match it if one of Kakko, Kravstov or Lundkvist were involved, maybe even Buchnevich, but I dont see the Rangers wanting to do that

Eichel has a more serious injury that no player in league history has gotten surgery for, he snot worth fox and Laffy plus

In that case then so is Eichel and everyone on here flips out when mock trades for him dont include Fox and Laffy
