I take it as Calgary, it's good asset management. However, EDM might be on Tanev's 10 team no trade list.
I'm still going to cheer against EDM winning the cup, but that's a formidable roster. Goaltending remains the only real weakness.

That might get Tanev to any other team in the leauge, but I don't see Calgary helping out Edmonton. Plus rebuilding seems like a swear word in this organization. The best time to rebuild would have been starting with Tkachuk last offseason, but they did a win now package, so they are committed to contending for a few years(even tho they Will forever be mediocre with this method)

Hamilton and Nugent-Hopkins decline, Both will get more then what you're offering them. Driedger gets more as well. A cap dump in Kassian plus a 1st and 2nd round pick don't get you Garland. Armstrong can get a much better offers for Garland then this.

He protected 5F and 3D. Either 4/4 protects Jones over Kahun. I think Seattle takes Benson over Jones...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>the_morris</b></div><div>Probably pretty realistic, although the bottom 6 will still get caved.
I don't think you can QO Khaira, Kahun, Benson, McLeod for less than they're currently making, unless they go to UFA and then you re-sign them. But even with marginally more salary on each, I think it might still fit under the cap.</div></div>
Really good and chill input
You should post more often
Yeah absolutely indeed they require a certain % raise over their previous AAV there's a full guide to that on here somewhere IIRC I'm just too lazy to look it up 🥴

Offseason
I like this plan. Fixes our defensive issues. Still a huge question mark at 3C. Maybe that could be fixed if we find a way to unload Neal in a trade to clear the extra money to sign a guy like Danault, Haula, Wennberg, Lowry, etc.. this summer

Ekholm available
Jets would offer more than that for ekholm, you’d likely have to pay a first and a B prospect + roster player. Think about like an expansion exempt dman, a roster player and a 1st.
Jets could offer something like Chisholm + Gustafsson + 2021 1st. Something like that NSH would be a lot more interested in. Especially if it’s at the TDL.

Dunn trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jetman</b></div><div>All of Canada would love it if you traded Larsson for Dunn....EDM then has two players(Barrie and Dunn) who is all offence and no defence...until their offense dries up too</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ken_holland</b></div><div>Ah but more offense can also improve our defense
Currently, Larsson cannot move the puck at all. So the puck is always in our zone when he's on the ice, and there's a higher chance of it ending up in the back of our net.
With Dunn (who is an excellent puck mover), the puck stays in the offensive zone for most of the time, where there's a lower chance of it ending up in the back of the net unless the net is empty.
Sometimes the better defensive player can be the one who doesn't play defense because he doesn't need to.</div></div>
Dunn is great defensively

Assuming Klef retires
If you are going to give jones to Seattle add a 3rd pick and make them take Neal. There’s no point wasting a protection on Klefbom, protect Nurse, Jones, Bear and then you will have some leverage. I understand the sentimental attachment to Klefbom but can he even complete his contract? I don’t think Seattle picks him and if they did would it be that bad? He plays 60 games a year on a good year they can’t depend on him anyway.

This is assuming he does attend camp at which point he proves to be too good to send back. Without klef we really don’t have the luxury of passing on the better player just to provide more experience to next in line. It’s not ideal or the way I’d like to go just the way I’m predicting. It’s likely going to cost us jones in the bigger picture but it is what it is tough loss but not a disaster.

Salvaging our bad offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>I like Kahun addition but if any of this makes sense to you wow been given ya a lot more credit in the past. This is very close to one of the worst attempts at an oilers roster I’ve seen. Horrible asset management sending down Neal at twice the cost of a buyout. Nothing here works or makes sense. Doing nothing would have had better results than this</div></div>
It's great asset management if anything. Not buying out Neal when we don't have to will shave 1 year off his eventual buyout. And I genuinely don't know where you see the downgrade. Nobody has been moved out, and better players have been brought in. Neal is at best, the 13th F on the roster.

Salvaging our bad offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>Larsson gets absolutely zero respect on this site and that blows my mind. Here’s a reality check oilers blueline before larsson zero youth had any hope of success. Oilers blueline with larsson suddenly have later round picks like bear and jones looking fully capable. Idk even costing hall to get larsson id do that move over and over again because of all the stability and long term benefits he’s already provided. I just don’t understand how sooooo few people can connect those dots. People that suggest he sucked even this past year blow me away because in January and February I thought was the best hockey ever seen of him. In my opinion you remove Larsson from this blue line right now your asking for a lottery pick and ignorantly wasting a year or mcdavid and leon.</div></div>
Saying you'd trade Hall for Larsson again is a massive yikes.
Also, if we'd be a lottery team WITHOUT Adam Larsson, then why have we been a lottery team WITH Adam Larsson the last 3 seasons?

Huh, interesting. Wonder if there’s some reason behind the snub or if they just thought he was their 6th best option. Next year’s draft seems like a solid one for goalies, I believe I read that Sweden’s likely backup (unless it’s Clang, then he’d be their 3rd stringer) is projected as a 1st rounder.

Goalie Bones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>Funniest statement I've ever heard right there.</div></div>
If you want a funny statement, why don't you go ask Ken Holland in a press scrum if he thinks Dylan Holloway is worth the 14th overall pick in the 2020 draft that, seeing as no significant hockey has happened for any of the draftees since, may as well have happened yesterday. I think he would think that's damn hilarious.
As far as your Foudy vs. Chinakhov thing, obviously a player who was reached for as compared to the consensus draft rankings is valued more by his team than others. Now maybe some GM's like Chinakhov more, and maybe some like Foudy more. I guess that is a debate we can't have as fans. But I am not talking about those players, who were not consensus 1st round picks. I am talking about players like Holloway who were ranked as a consensus 1st round pick by all analysts, who, while not GM's, are as close as fans will ever get to knowing what scouts in the league think in general about the range of players being valued by all teams. So that is the logic I use here, and the best logic we have available to us, unless you are personal friends with 31 GM's.
