I am curious to see what is going to happen with him. even if he is injury prone there was a stat up that he has like top 5 goals per 60 or something like that in last few seasons.
He clearly has skill and risk attached to him, but buffalo is a team that has less risk attached because it doesn't risk any cap issues or losses by bringing him in.
a team like capitals would need to move out a player or 2 in there middle 6 or D core to take on his cap hit witch isnt something sabers would need to do. (huge risk)

Sabers have a injured guy named Ben Bishop they brought in just to cost 4m$ so team could hit cap floor.
edit
If your argument is about character then it be more valid but we actually don't know why he is in player assistance program.
money is poor point for the team that had the most cap space in league at start of season.

I am hoping that's sarcasm. post shows sabers have 14m$ in cap space after all of this.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>I'd ask for more than that if they want us to eat that contract. 1 year of Marleau (who was still a good player) cost the Leafs a 1st to move. That 1st turned into Seth Jarvis. Not saying that it costs that kind of player/prospect to move Zaitsev, but he isn't a good player and has 2 years left. Meaning I'd ask for Thomson, not JBD, and perhaps a pick as well. Otherwise, its not worth Buffalo's time</div></div>
Honestly i would actually prefer Bernard-Docker over Thomson. Thomson is supposed to be a more offensive guy witch we don't really need i would prefer the more steady 2 way d man in the bottom 4.
They are both 1st round picks that have had some development already. that fits buffalos time line better in my mind then getting a 1st and using it on a RHD in this draft.

i really don't see a dominate player in knight right now, he just isnt worth 5 pieces.
potential is there, but sabers literally have like 4 of the top 15 goalie prospects in levi, portillo, UPL and Leinonen.
if this was Philly with heart it be different story because he is still young but proved capable in NHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>It’s also massively unrealistic
No NHL team is gonna acquire (& PAY) a $6mil guy to sit the bench

But if you’re trying to get us better now, then make some better moves for that 3rd line- bc it’s still pretty rough</div></div>
there is no need to get so defensive, if you want people to agree with explain your reasonings and if its valid people may agree.
why do you think Myers is so bad when he is 2nd highest min/game on Vancouver for D. clearly coach thinks he's capable enough.
what do you expect out of a 3rd line as well.
the one i put together there is hard working fast line. that's all you really need there they aren't supposed to be 50 point guys with 20 goals.
depth is the whole reason buffalo lost to canes in conference finals if your old enough to remember being down 4 of our top 6d in playoffs.
edit( myers aav is 6 but he is getting payed less, so doesn't really hurt team as much finically if that's your concern)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>So your ideas are:
Put a $6mil guy in the 7th defenseman spot
and
Bring in a former top5 pick, & so he can be “free” - but play him with mediocrely talented linemates
Ummmmmm….. what??</div></div>
20m$ cap space $ don't matter
team is consistently down a couple d men, so depth is vastly needed and that price tag means no one else can take him on.
jost was top 10 pick and danato is place holder until one of the 4x 1st rounder forwards we picked in last 2 drafts is ready.
but regardless lots of players just dont play well under certain systems. tage is a good example on what i hope for.
so umm yeah this makes team better for very low cost and without mortgaging future.

myers is improvment of fits and clague, but will be 7th guy when jok is healthy.
Pull is a mid 6er and just needs to be free of Edmonton and get some confidence playing in different system.

so myers is the 7th d man after jok gets healthy but he is big step up from the call ups from ahl. seems minor but the 4th rounder was biggest piece in trade.

I am thinking there is a regression coming but hopefully just to be 30 goals 60 points guy. if cap goes up in next 8 years witch they are saying it will then thats a health 2nd line center wage. i would have bridged personally as hes never been above 20 points in previous seasons, but i am just a agm.

take picks and cap dumps to hit floor for next 2 years. build that farm team to elite status in process.
I don't see the hype of Nazar he's like Caulfield but not elite sniper, so just small and good puck skills and strong drive. yurov has same puck skills and drive as nazar but 4'' taller.
I think manson would be 2nd pair 1st year with team but by 2nd year i would like him to be dropped down to just be a shut down guy. I am hoping that Joker grows into solid top 4 guy pushing manson down depth chart.

a little dramatic. all of them are good players who were brought in and have repution of winning and being good team guys. the team needs RHD so whats wrong with letang. Malkin is work horse type player and big improvement on eakin. fleury is basically the same situation as anderson but 4 years younger. Its all 1 year contracts that bring team over the cap min. if your concern is that its keeping the young guys down i disagree fundamentally with bringing kids in before they get seasoned in AHL.
edit
i would also love to destroy what they have done this past decade instead. team had 0 good mojo the previous season btw kinda came last in league and had multiple players demand out.

If we are playing the numbers game the player drafted with that pick isn’t likely to help you for a minimum of 3-4 years if at all. Murphy is a good veteran guy, and an underrated leader. Obviously I’m biased to this trade but I would say the developmental impact of Murphy to play top pair minutes with Dahlin or Power is worth the first round pick alone… I mean look at what Florida paid for Ben Chariot!</div></div>
I don't know why you think buffalo will not be thinking 3- 4 years in the future. the team probably isn't making playoffs next year and will be even longer before they can contend for cup. I get that you would want a 1st for him and chariot is a fair comparison. the biggest difference is cup contenders don't care about picks as much and non contenders.

i know you dont follow sabers prospects (few do) but Johnason is basically a devon toews type player and will do well in nhl when ready. I dont like to diss people on here but Schneider is never going to be a top 2 guy. that's fine because rangers don't need it but buffalo really needs that future top 4 guy on right side. that's where i see Schneider at if everything goes right.
I 100% dont see how you think rangers will have cap space at the end of Schneiders contract. On the D side Hájek and miller are off rookie contracts before him. for offence Lafrenière and kaapo are coming up soon too. the rangers will also need to dish out some $ to get in a 2nd line center as copp and strome are both up this year, probable looking around 6m$ for that. Lafreniere is getting either 6m$ + or offer sheeted, 1st overall means you get paid.

rangers and leafs fans always way overvalue there prospects. like Schneider is good 3 pair for our team we need 2 x 1st round picks a prospect for him lol. think logically you cant afford a 2nd contract for him if he is so good unless you dont want to pay Kaapo or Lafrenière.
