<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>This is true.</div></div>
Agreed, its a lot. I like using the Toronto trading Marleau to Carolina as a basis. a 1st round pick for $6 that carolina had to be. I was thinking actually dollars not necessarily cap hit. If the extra 1st is kept, then theres still $2 million in cap hit that needs to be addressed. Just trying to be realistic about that it would cost. The only other way i see it working out is moving Rust and i just dont think that'll happen unless they can move rust with granlund and petry at full cap hit.

I hate the Pit trade, but only because i really like ZAR. I think GMRH would entertain the conversation and its pretty close/fair.

Bryan Rust
Hard pass from Pit. Rust is an established 20+ goal scorer and is one of the fastest guys on the team at a reasonable cap hit. I dont know much about Denisenko, but a 4 game NHL sample size is nowhere near enough to project where that guy is going to go. Granted he is still pretty young, his number in the KHL dont really jump off the page either.

POJ Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>That's a big negative. Not trading Comtois unless it's for a major upgrade up front, which doesn't make a ton of sense right now anyway, as the team really isn't in a position where it makes any sense.</div></div>
I dont know anything about Comtois, but i was about to say the trade was awful from Pit perspective based on player age and production the last two seasons. His production was about the same as McCann, but McCann had fewer games played, but is 2 years older. But to add Pits best D prospect, plus a goalie prospect, PLUS pit swapping the better of the picks just makes this look bonkers on paper

Yes, this is the only flaw to the trade

Improvements all around
For the Pit trade....the value it probably about right for a depth defensive forward. I dont think Pit moves him mostly because hes going to start the year on IR and they'll see if any of his offense comes back before doing anything. But analytically he was one of the best defensive forwards in the league last season. If GMJR was going to move him i think he would try to milk that fact and squeeze more for him.

It was back on the trend that GMJR has been targeting players that previously played for him or was in his system.

I hate to be that guy but you cant decide the outcome of one trade by another, unless most of the pieces are re-dealt. This was a big loss.

Didnt think Fabbri was that "valuable" i was just looking at the lazy mans points total for grabbing a warm body. I knew he had a bad injury history and assumed he didnt have a lot of stock. it was meant as a filler bottom 6 guy.

Do I get bonus homer point for wanting Jarry to play over Fleury instead of Murray?

Thanks, I saw a few post on here and didn't know if it was actually stated or if it was wild fan speculation. I'm sure itll all stay a mystery.
And I almost forgot pit picked him up. that year pit should have won the cup. probably would have if it wasn't for Rask.

Healthy lines heading into playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bigZ98</b></div><div>After the deadline the roster size no longer matters. A team is allowed to have as many players called up as they want as long as they remain under the cap. but when the playoffs start, cap space also becomes irrelevant and you are allowed to have as many players you want and they dont have to fit under the cap. Which is why when playoffs start teams will call up their entire AHL roster just in case assuming their AHL team is not currently in their own playoff run. At least this is what i think. Someone correct me if im wrong</div></div>
I knew that the playoff roster wasn't restricted by the cap, but I didn't realize the roster limit changed after the deadline.

I still haven't figured out the compliant roster. Lafferty was sent down but when all but jake come back its still a 24 man roster. Not sure who the plan is to waive unless they're not planning on activating one or more of them until play offs which seems risky with guys not having game legs. I woud assume Riikola gets waived because Sullivan seems to trust him the least.

Don't worry, people still wont read it...I'll give you points for originality on the base pieces. I wouldn't say PIT fans are down on him but hes been injured a lot so hes just been a complete non-factor from that standpoint. And he is just completely expendable and kind of addition by subtraction. There are a lot of factors with this trade. BJUG has term, Haula would be a rental with a lower cap hit so it would give pit extra flexibility. Neither are really standout point producers over their careers. GMJR loves his goalie depth so he would honestly overvalue that piece. AND they are divisional competitors so a deal would be tight and neither would "win" the trade. I think NoWah49 is close on his trade but I would see the pick being a later round like 6-7th and it could come from either side depending on who wanted to get the deal done more.

That's my bad, I thought he was UFA, when I looked at WPG page I just saw the 7.6 mil salary for one year left, didn't notice that they had $0 put in for this year and the 7.6 was for next year.

If you are spending two 1st round picks you better be getting someone better and younger than Zucker.</div></div>
I saw in one of the throw away "trade rumor" pages that MIN was interested in Chucky and one of blueger or riikola plus for Zucker. The Pit first and the MIN second is essentially what they did with the reaves trade where they just move back a few draft positions (not a big swing). then other first for next year makes up for the cap dump of chucky. I thought it was a slight over pay but Zucker has term for a reasonable cap hit.
And I was aware that he got hurt, just didn't know how long he would be out. That's why I said in the description that the trade was a basis. NOT the final deal and I wanted CAR input on what else pit would need to give up. If hes out for the season I would say PIT wants nothing to do with it but if he could be back as a late addition they should be interested.
