Ya it sucks paying a top 4 dman and top 6 forward what they deserve. But hey have fun paying half the cap to 4 players lol

And I’m not denying it. How’s come leaf fans are allowed to say that, but when I say Pittsburgh wanted cap space, it’s all of a sudden “an irrelevant point to make”

If Pittsburgh was worried about losing 2 players, they wouldn’t have made the trade. They wanted cap space, and they got it.

You mean the same roster that lost again in the first round? And the penguins were losing McCann to seattle for free, but instead they got a prospect in a pick. Look at it from both sides and not just the leafs

Jones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DogDayCaps2</b></div><div>1) upside means “the positive or favorable aspect of something” I think you mean potential or room to improve?
2) I said you ignored his positive features to use age to diminish his value. I never said age isn’t a negative i just pointed out you used his age as a main focus point to establish value which is dumb lol. He’s the best offensive Dman in the league. Would you describe Crosby as a 30 year old or the 2nd best player in the world ? I’m not saying Carlson has more value either lol I think ZW is amazing. I suggested ZW bc Carlson value is more than 1 year of Jones. You clearly are bias towards the Capitals but it’s embarrassing to say “ 30 years old Dman” when describing Carlson. Like you are purposely trying to describe him in the most underwhelming way possible. Lol do better next time. Idk why you feel the need to explain ZW value… I know he’s great I think he’s only 23 also… maybe you made the mistake of thinking I undervalue him as a player ?</div></div>
Yes. Age between Carlson and ZW is the main point. They both excel in their positions, and you surround ZW with the talent WSH has, and he'd be even better. And I see constantly people bring up crosbys age and his value. "Oh team x says no because of crosbys age" "Team X isn't giving up futures for a past prime crosby" Age is a huge factor. No team is trading a young elite player for someone in the 30s.

Lol like let’s ignore the massive upside and just use his age to diminish his value. Recently finished in 2nd Norris voting…. Most points by a Dman last 2 years but you choose to describe him as a 30year old Dman… clearly the most intelligent way to go about this.</div></div>
Lmao what massive upside does he have being in his 30s? The one who has the massive upside is ZW, who is already an elite player. Why would Columbus make that trade? And yes, age does diminish value. Does a player like ovi still have the same value as years prior, even though he’s still producing a lot? No. And why are you bringing up finishing 2nd in Norris last year? Why not bring up where he finished this year? Oh that’s right. You chose his best season, not his typical year.
ZW already has 4 10+ goal seasons, and a 20 goal season (which Carlson has yet to have). Makes absolutely zero sense for the jackets to make a trade for an older dman and give up a young one like ZW.

ZW is worth more than a bottom 6 forward and a dman in his 30s. ZW might even have more value than Carlson at this point of his career

Two best in that Copp is better than Rust and Stanley is better than than DeSmith.</div></div>
Pittsburgh gets the 2 best players, even though neither of them have had a season like Rust has had in is career? Makes absolutely zero sense.
Wait Copp is better than Rust? lmao please explain how? And there is absolutely zero way to compare a goalie to a forward. So that isn't even a debate, even though Desmith has very very similar career numbers to Hellebuych

lmao the only young player is Stanley. Rust is 29, and Copp is 27. Also rust is better than both players. Im sure the jets desperately need Stanleys 4 point production for next year over what rust can do. Why would pittsburgh even consider that trade?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Loops</b></div><div>It was actually a very smart move to trade for McCann and leave both him and Kerfoot unprotected. Think of it as a 3rd line Center insurance policy. A prospect and late pick to guarantee that we go Into the off-season with at least one third line Center. Both Kerfoot and McCann can fill that role just fine and I’d be happy with either one. Had we not done that we would have risked trying to find a 3C in free agency or via trade.</div></div>
McCann should not an option for a center. Pittsburgh tried him in their 3c, and did not work. Hes a much better winger
