Goaltender change
Nashville can find a backup for askarov that doesnt eat up 4 million in capspace for the next 4 seasons and might put up decent numbers as well. Korpisalo isnt that player.
Nashville doesnt need another RW prospect... he'd be buried in our wing pipeline behind Evangelista, Kemell, Wood, Tomasino, L'Heureux, Schaefer, and maybe Fink. Not everyone will turn out but there is more than enough there to not waste the Saros return on another winger.
Boston's 1sts is late and just covers taking Korpisalo.

Id be interested from nashvilles end. Tomasino is talented but doesnt seem like he fits Brunette's system. Glass is basically a bust. Tampas first is really a wild card. That may end up being a really nice pick.

Anderson's contract is just terrible and Nashville has no room for that monstrosity. Let alone turning a promising goaltending prospect into a random later 1st round pick in 2025. It just doesnt do anything for nashville

saros
This seems like alot even for a Nashville fan such as myself. Casey and a 1st (or equivalent value) should be adequate. Holtz isnt a need (we have tons of wing prospects) or Daws (we have Askarov). Not overly interested in Marino personally either as the defensive situation in Nashville is fairly crowded.

Playoff contend
Thats probably more than adequate for saros.
Beck seems decent
Struble as a lefty isnt as appealing but has years of waiver exemption left which is helpful which would give time for McDonagh to ride into retirement and lauzon to move to right side/ship out. Either way, it buys time for things to work itself out.
Montreals first is early enough to get a good prospect.
Not sure it makes sense for montreal though. They signed monty for 3 seasons at 3.1 mil even though his numbers arent great. Their core is still very young and theyve still got alot of dead weight contracts (anderson, dvorak, Gallagher, armia). Just not sure if they would make a move for a goalie or stand pat and hope that one of what they got eventually turn out as their young core starts pulling things together.

Not sure what Kaliyev brings to the table that just waiting another year for L'Heureux wouldnt accomplish or just roll the dice with Afanaseyev and see how that turns out.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>I'd rather reup Talbot or Rittich another year and have a shot at Roy than one year of Saros.
I know people are down on the Kings goaltending but both their goaltenders are top-10 in SV%, this has more to do with their strong defense, keeping Roy is essential to keep this going.</div></div>
Rittich isnt a starter and Talbot will be 37 but i get the idea. Kings have a really strong defense. What is their long term goalie plan?

The come up
No thanks on Norris' contract.
2 seasons of underwhelming production
1 season of good production with an elevated shooting %
Several shoulder injuries and games i watched him this season he just doesnt stand out on a positive way.
Maybe if he comes back next season and looks great in camp and preseason, id reconsider but that contract is just a big detractor right now.
Swapping out schenn for brannstrom is a big positive and i like Ostapchuk.
I just dont like the norris contract with all his health uncertainties and his performance this season

Here we go
Nashville’s team as a whole really failed saros which is embodied by the Dallas game before we really started turning things around.
As for a realistic return, 2024 1st (top 5 protected) and Casey. A rhd to help build a future dcore with Molendyk with and a low 1st rounder to draft a center since as has been pointed out they just dont get traded especially for a goalie. Maybe toss in signing rights to your ufa goalie and we can toss back a 3rd so we can kindof bridge some perceived value gap here. Nashville fans will see low value, devils fans will probably see too much for a ufa coming of a so-so year
Saros sv% and GAA are drug down by a stretch of really crappy team hockey where the defense constantly left easy cross ice tap in goals. Saros did have the occasional bad game/goal but it takes alot to recover from that.

Thats alot of nothing nashville has interest in for saros.
Foote gets waived
Bastian might join him
Dont need or want Siegenthaler
Holtz is nice but we already have too many winger prospects and judging by where we are landing in the draft this year we are probably destined to pick another one.
Draft pick is 2025

Nashville’s defense is already old enough with Josi, McDonagh, and Schenn. Dont need to change one of the few young players we have into an older dman thats had several injuries

No real deal to be had then. In terms of actual prospects, Casey is what fits the needs and the 1st would give Nashville the best chance of filling its other need (center). The only other deal would be something based around Mercer which im sure is also off limits.
Nashville doesnt want to give up its starting goalie as they dont have an immediate replacement no matter how good Askarov looks he is still an unknown quantity. Trotz has seen rebuilds fail because of shoddy goaltending. New Jersey doesnt want to give up high end assets because goalies just dont historically fetch that kind of assists. Both are fairly understandable positions to take in my opinion

I can follow the logic of nashville going after boeser... but they dont go after Mikheyev. We have alot of dead cap this and next season due to buying out duchene and devoting around 5 million for a 3rd line forward is not gonna work for us.

Not saying he is worth more. Just saying what you are offering isnt what nashville needs. Casey and your 1st is more in lines with organizational needs.
Bahl just muddies the defense that nashville has and possibly ends up on waivers and gets claimed.
Same with foote.
Holtz creates a bigger issue fighting for a roster spot with nashville's already overly crowded wing pipeline.
It just doesnt fit their needs.

Nashville just pulled out a couple more useful players than armia for free in McCarron, Smith, Sherwood, etc. Why would anyone pay a 2nd for him? He is a dime a dozen player and there will be players available in UFA for free not to mention internal candidates.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DevilsFanInTX</b></div><div>Setting aside Nash’s desire to trade him, the comps suggest a lottery pick and either Holtz or Casey gets it done. If neither of those prospects fit a future need, what does?</div></div>
Nashville needs a center or a rhd like casey. We have alot of wing prospects and alot of current dmen. A young developing rhd dmen that doesnt require waivers with high upside that can form a future core with Molendyk would be of interest. The lottery first could hopefully solve the center issue since those dont typically get traded

Not really anything im interested in from a Nashville perspective:
Bahl - dman that requires waivers. We have 5 nhl contracted dmen next season. Trotz is trying to extend carrier which would make 6. If he doesnt get carrier we still already have 3 NHL LHD. So Bahl doesnt really fit. If he were two years younger sure.
Foote - ends up on waivers
Holtz - another winger to throw onto our pile of top winger prospects Evangelista, Tomasino, L'Heureux, Kemell, Wood, Fink, Schaefer, Lind. We need centers.
2024 1st - wont be useful for 3- 4 years. Trotz is wanting to be competitive now

McD actually almost kept up production with Rakell this season. I think the best part is the shorter contract. Rakell's contract is far too long for a middle 6 winger when Nashville has alot of upcoming winger prospects

Norris through 2 full seasons of his big contract will of played a full 58 games while having recurrent major shoulder issues/surgeries. The time he was on the ice he had 18G 15A 33P in 58 Games which is a 25G 21A 46 point in 82 Game pace which at a caphit of 7,950,000 for another 6 years is ridiculous. I know he has 1 season where he looks like a legit top 6 C and id like to see him get back there but until he can come back healthy/confident noone is touching that contract atleast not paying you for it
