Pointless scenario as they won't rebuild because Jacobs won't allow it lol. Zero chance Jacobs would be ok with willingly losing out on playoff money, not to mention if the plan was to tank they would have fired Sweeney.

Pasta in SJ
Don't think that gets a pasta deal done, especially if they are top 10 proceted. I think you have to include a top 10 pick in a deal for him.
Also, why would sharks do it for one season, he is gonna cost $10 long-term after that and the Sharks don't have the cap.

Yeah as much as I would like to see Pasta in OTT, I don't think they can offer the best package, and then to get him signed with the coming Norris, Stuzle, and Sanderson Extensions I don't see it as a fit, or even a possibility.
Second, would 100% rather have Pinto as 3C than Monahan.
Third, with the Likes of Greig, Kelley, Kastlic, and Watson I see no reason to bring in Ritchie, use the money elsewhere, likely needed as I think Joseph and Formenton are going to cost more than what you have here.

Free agency sucks but there’s a couple of goalies who could be moved around (allen mrazek georgiev varlamov come to mind)
Will be difficult for teams needing a goalie to find one though

Apologies for the age part. I honestly didn’t realize Pasta was that young. Affordability and control were my main points anyways. Cheers

2021-22 NHL Off-season Discussion Thread - #2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>I can’t see a team offering up top prospects for a 34 year old Marchand.</div></div>
I think the St.Louis trade offers a reasonable place to start looking as what a Marchand trade may look like. The 39 year-old returned a 1st and a 2nd with a cap dump (Ryan Callahan) going back to the Lightning at the 2014 deadline. In the four and a half seasons leading up to him being traded, Marty went 351GP - 131G - 257A - 388P (1.105p/gp).
Marchand's past four seasons of work give us 272GP - 125G - 211A - 336P (1.235p/gp). He's five years younger, produces more, and likely won't require a cap dump as the Bruins should most definitely have the cap space to afford a full retention on Marchand. Two first round picks is going to be the absolute minimum you would see in return for Marchand and at a certain point there's an argument to be made in favour of cost benefit in giving up high-end prospects in exchange of those high picks. Argue his health all you want, he's going to get all the time in the world to recover fully as the Bruins at large appear committed to not contending next season.
If they move him at the upcoming deadline or the 2023 draft, the price tag goes up due to the term associated with a full season or playoffs plus full season of Marchy.
I don't know which team is going to pull the trigger. I don't know which prospects are going to be involved. All I know is that the return will be substantial based on precedence.

2021-22 NHL Off-season Discussion Thread - #2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>The problem is that if they want to build around those guys, they don’t have any assets that could return great core pieces in a retool</div></div>
Marchand is that piece, the only stipulation is that they can't move him until he's healthy.
I would argue that the returns for Debrusk, Grzelcyk, and Hall would be enough in tandem with the Bruins' own 2023 pick to find those missing core pieces: I think the Bruins' are smart enough to move up in a draft if there's a team looking to find a larger haul. Likewise, despite the scouring of information we do each year on draft prospects, there are always names that slide or come out of nowhere to be NHL ready - or come better than advertised (Sillinger anyone?) - and we just <em>know</em> that the Bruins are the exact team to capitalize on that kind of fortune.
Maybe most of the issue I take with a Pastrnak trade right now is the only return I've seen that I'd remotely consider is the #2 pick and Alex Holtz from New Jersey and it feels like too much of a return for a pending UFA. That can't happen without an extension and until pen meets paper I'd be uncomfortable if I was a fan or member of the Devils. Get that extension in place and then I'd get on board with that idea as Cooley and Holtz expedites that recovery exponentially.

Woll I feel is a candidate. He showed promise in his short stint and with a little more polishing will make for a fine tandem goalie. As for who I think is the goalie of the future for us. Its gonna be Vyacheslav Peksa. I just got that gut feeling with him
Once he turns 20 I got a feeling hes on his way to North America where the real work begins

To be honest, im not sure why im quoted here. Im on the same page - I was saying that i think boston would qualify him due to Gryz not starting the year healthy, Zboril coming off surgery and most likely a Reilly trade. So i guess to answer your question, i agree with your point. This isnt my thread, and its also assuming that OTT trades for Fleury, signs Bear, etc. From my perspective, Boston keeps him on a cheap, easy contract to provide a fill in when needed.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hanson493</b></div><div><strong>how there was enough there to be "reversed" is beyond me</strong>. i take what former players say over analysts and announcers a little more seriously. bissonette coming out and saying flat out thats a goal. the refs screwed the flames. you just leave the goal on the board and let the oilers try and take em in game 6 or 7. i think oilers wanted it more. i think they win the series regardless. but flames should have won last night.</div></div>
Agreed-I don't see how it was so conclusive on the replay that they didn't let the call on the ice (which was a goal) stand. It's not what cost the Flames the series-lack of production from the top line and Markstrom falling down to earth did-but you don't ever want to see a team go out on that kind of call. (Unless you're an Oilers fan, of course.)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hanson493</b></div><div>ive seen the video of the coleman no goal about 50 times. im sure its been talked about a bit in the thread here but how isnt that a goal? thats such a brutal call to make at that juncture in the playoffs. this game was sooooo good. it was just action on action on action. and to kind of have that one call muddy the game is a shame on the sport. no distinct kicking motion. skate never left the ice. think its simply unfortunate timing for coleman skating there. but idk what else hes really supposed to do there. ceci is diving at the post from his left and smith is sliding into him from his right.
note im not a flames or oilers fan. zero stake in this outcome. just think flames should have seen a game 6.</div></div>
I initially completely agreed. After watching Sportsnet break it down I'm a little more conflicted. But I think it was too close to reverse the call on the ice, and thus should've been a goal. Even the Oilers broadcasters were absolutely flabbergasted-they said outright "Look, we're Oilers fans, so we're thrilled, but if you're a Flames fan, you have to be absolutely livid right now."

Would you bruin fans stop sending Folingo to Columbus. Columbus has no room for him with too many forwards needing ice time already and he wants to win a cup, that’s why he left Columbus in the first place, maybe he comes back and retires a blue jacket but that’s when his career is over, not now.
