Next Year
I personally think the bigger need this off-season is to sign a defense first RHD like Pesche to a 5 or less year contract to be Mintyukov's running mate.
Asking Gudas to play top line minutes is going to be pushing him too far. I also know Verbeek is high in Luneau, but I think he could stand some time in the AHL. Both because we need to stop bypassing out young players straight from junior to the NHL, we need to build a winning culture from the ground up, and that starts in San Diego, and two, because Zellweger Luneau would get murdered as a pairing.
I would target Pesche, Roy, or Hronek, and run them, Gudas, and Lindstrom down the right, our system relies on a lot of north south movement in the offensive zone, which is difficult for a Damn on his off hand. Hell, I'd even take Risto off Philly's hands if they want to move on from him, he's been a good defensive D for a little while now and his contract is no bother to us.
With a stronger defense Gibson will bounce back in a big way, with Gudas and Lyubushkin on the roster Gibsons GSAx was up there among the top of the league. Now that Bush is gone, Gudas is on IR, and the season is lost his stats have plummeted.
Fowler on the other hand looks completely cooked, I want him off this roster at this point, every time he gets called to step up he falters.

Next Year
A very intelligent and realistic strategy, whether or not we can succeed in trading Fowler and Gibson for a reasonable return. (Personally, I'd like to see them retire as lifelong Ducks, but Gibby may play out more years than his current contract so he'd have to go somewhere else.) You must be doing something right when the worst things that I can say about your construction is that I would re-sign Isac Lundestrom and I'd rather have Sam Carrick than Trevor Carrick.

You think that we're going to retain $12.8 million for THAT?
Congratulations! Amongst a sea of truly awful Gibson trades, that's absolutely the worst. Until now, I didn't think that anyone on CapFriendly was capable of that bad a trade, for anyone.

That's a better value that Ottowa paid for Cat in the first place, and McTavish is on the untouchables list. Try again.

I like all of these moves. I think Minnesota values Ohgren pretty high so I’d say Firstov might be a better equal ground.
Besides that and a few lineup changes, I like it

If I’m offer sheeting anyone it’s Bouchard. EDM has cap issues and Bouchard is gonna be a top pair D if he’s not already. It’d cost at least a 1st 2nd and 3rd but he’d be worth it and the ducks have extra 2nds and 3rds next draft anyways.

Canucks accpet. 2nd is good for Boeser, then getting Comtois for Myers means not only do we not pay to dump him, but we actually get something back for him.

If we are going to OS Hague, we may as well make Vegas hurt for it, go 3.75-4 mil by 3 years. Exits still an RFA, if Vegas tries to match really screws them over cap wise, or we get him for a bit of an overpayment for a few years while we don't have cap problems.

Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>Right, so we agree. Leafs fans arnt over rating their prospects like ducks fans here are.
And yes, i do realise the op is for both, that's why i responded to the ducks fan who said they wouldn't trade one straight up. Wild how that works.
And as far as flipping goes, you cant assume marner doesn't get better, dude is literally mid prime.
And again, if you cant think of a trade that the ducks get more value out of than one or thr other player that is simply you refusing to use even a scrap of imagination</div></div>
So you have yet to articulate even one offer for Marner that gets a return better than the three listed. You have tried piggy-backing off of <a href="/users/giggywithgibby" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@giggywithgibby</a>, but don’t realize that he was trying to explain how off you are.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>Seattle does it, arizona probably too because they care about butts in seats more than one ice product, Columbus isnt a fit but it has nothing to do with value and the jets easily do.
And look at that, you thought of a way to make this even better for the ducks, there are 25 teams in the league who would give up an absolute mint for marner retained, and here's another thought, what if you didnt have to have a single prospect as good as McTavish? What if we used LA as an example, they're on a fast track and 50% marner? They have a very deep prospect pool and all their picks.
There are many many options</div></div>
Seattle possibly, but again, tell us what they offer… show the value coming back. Arizona it’s obvious you don’t have a clue. CBJ is actually the best fit lol just not the most plausible money wise.
Again, just give ONE trade that is a fair, realistic, flip for a return on Marner. Just one….

Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>Never said leafs fans dont, but then i havent seen any arguing that they wouldn't trade one of their best prospects straight up for an elite 2 way player and then having other fans of other teams defend that stance.
Aa far as flipping him, well it doesnt make sense for onw reason and thats that the leafs would never even remotely consider it but if they were dumb enough to offer it, yeah, the ducks would do it every day. Unless their gm grossly messes up the flip they would easily get more value back than whatever Zegras or McTavish offer and if you need me to be specific about that, well let's put it this way.
If the ducks were interested in marner the leafs dared entertain a trade, they would start the bidding war with a mctavish like prospect and a 1st because that's what he would return. Minimum, at the very least the ducks would have a lateral prospect move and an extra 1st.</div></div>
You don’t see TML fans trading Knies for superstars on here. Part of the reason you don’t see it is because he is your top prospect. Toronto fans are too busy trading Holl, Kerfoot, Muzzin, Robertson, and every 1st and 2nd to worry about trading other prospects.
As far as this trade, in no way is ANA trading McTavish AND Zegras. You do realize it is both of them, not one or the other. If it were one and another prospect, or multiple picks, other players, etc. more people would understand your side.
As far as flipping is concerned, you don’t seem to understand the point. Zegras has established himself as a top young player. He could fall off after year one, but you can’t just assume after last season that happens, or he stays lateral and doesn’t improve. McTavish will be a Duck this season, and will be a 1-2 C for years, offering 2 way play and could very well be the future captain.
Please enlighten us all since you started to say you could flip Marner for more at the deadline unless it was “grossly messed up.” Give one scenario or one realistic trade at the deadline with Marner going to a contender for better return than MM/TZ/2nd rounder.
