Dang. I needed to do a quick check because that's incredible. 2019 with Holmstrom, but wow. I get it. ok.

Maybe package Lee and Pageau together to the Hawks? I'd be very much interested in trying to acquire that 2024 1st of yours. Not suggesting a straight up Future Considerations, but maybe dropping back in the draft for taking on $12M in cap space for 2 years?
Hawks need high picks more than they need 2nds. I'd do this Hawks trade above too! Just having a conversation and thinking out of the box.

Offseason that I hope
I agree with everyone else on here. Pretty dang good team. I'm curious if Tanev will sign that knowing we're probably not going to the playoffs...might need to be a bit more, but we got the cap space to do it.
I'd try to work a deal for Ander Lee if Debrusk/Chandler don't work out. Seems to be a strong NYI contingent looking to gain that cap space specifically. Maybe something there.

What are your thoughts on CHI signing Kaner back? It's not like DET are cup contenders with in 2 years...so the whole winning a cup argument holds the same for both these teams. It's now a discussion on contract.

You shouldn't have to retain in Lee. Hawks have a ton of cap space for the duration of his contract. The return will be whatever it is.

need more talent
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PaulKorea</b></div><div>Hawks probably accept.</div></div>
It feels like were at the point where there was kinda an agreed upon price IF Lee was willing to waive to CHI. <em>(I think he would considering his wife's from here, they met at Notre Dame, etc... He'd be the 4th player off the top of my head that made this exact move.)</em> But the value keeps on slipping the more this gets discussed. Example...hey the previous post had an agreed upon (2) 2nds...I'll make it a 2nd and a 3rd....the next post will be a 2nd and a 4th...the next a 2nd and a 5th just to see what fans are willing to giving.
I'm open to bringing on Anders Lee. I think his contract term and his veteran leadership are (2) things that line up with the Hawks well. As far as the return...it'll be whatever it is.

From the Hawks point of view. I think a 2nd is sufficient, but would take the 4th if you're offering.

How do they bring everyone back
I'd do that if I were the Hawks and it does fit the criteria Kyle Davidson has set. If you want to dump cap (almost) regardless of debatable talent...it'll cost a 2nd.

Getting creative with Tavares
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>This isn't allowed by the CBA any longer. But curious? You think the Hawks would pay Tavaras the $7.6m owed on his buyout to move up from a late 2nd to a late 1st?</div></div>
I think they'd just keep him. I didn't really get into the whole buyout situation to be honest because it's not allowed anymore.

I'm not sure Florida can keep him with $20M available and only 13 players signed without Reinhart/Montour. We'll see though, and to your point...he'll probably want to go to an immediate contender.

KYLE TURN UP GAP YEAR
I didn't see the word for word interview, but I'm pretty sure he said the weren't likely going to target the big fish. They do 100% want to get better AND they can't be taking on too many cap dumps for too long, BUT getting a veteran from another team like Anders Lee or a JPG could be a good longer term move. We have 2 years worth of cap space to play with, but that 3rd year is a killer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kato</b></div><div>Nothing is impossible. Just don't see Lee at this stage in his career accepting a deal to Chicago. Maybe in a few years when his contract is up and he's a free agent if he can't latch on to a cup contender.
Even saying that though why would you want Lee on the Blackhawks right now? If I'm the Blackhawks I'm trading away draft picks (second rounders as they have 8 over the next 3 seasons) for young players other teams can't afford to keep. Think of Sean Durzi types. Trying to rebuild with just draft picks is really tough because a lot of them just don't develop and I believe that losing teams do more harm to a lot of them.</div></div>
Nah, I'd rather use the picks to move up in the draft. Rebuilds take time and we needs veterans to helps teach these kids how to truly become professionals.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kato</b></div><div>Typically the lists are submitted each year around July 1st. Players typically use modified no trade lists to their advantage. He has a 15 team no trade list. If he's smart he can practically make that a complete no trade list by leaving off teams that would never trade for him because of their cap situation like Colorado, Toronto, Tampa Bay and Minnesota. A lot of times a player ends up going to a team on his list but it's because it's an ideal situation where a team is in a contending situation and it's a better situation than the team he is leaving. Chicago is not in that position currently. Look how long rebuilds in Detroit, Buffalo and Ottawa have been going on. It's not a situation veteran players with options want to be in. They often get players because they pay players the most. Pretty much what you did with Henrique and Demelo. No other team would hand out those contracts. For Lee he already has a contract.</div></div>
I appreciate your opinion! Truly. Did you know his wife is from Chicago and they meet at Notre Dame??? Like I hear you, but he'd be the 6th or 7th veteran that came to CHI for none hockey reasons. It happens all the time. Maybe 1 of those 16 teams COULD...MAYBE...POSSIBLY be CHI. Far stranger things have happened.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kato</b></div><div>I don't see 30+ year olds that have term and never won a cup having any interest in Chicago, San Jose, etc. Free agents that will get vastly overpaid like Perry and Foligno did last year? Yeah I can see that. But a player with no financial advantage is going to want no part of the dumpster fire that those teams are in. They are 2-3 years away from even competing to make the playoffs. Maybe in a few seasons when his contract is done and nobody else will give him a meaningful contract but when he has term and controls his destination for the most part I don't see it happening now.</div></div>
I don't view those as being equal. Anders has to provide a list of teams. You're assuming he's willing to go to Canada. Some guys aren't. Maybe he doesn't want to go against the NYI so the Metro is out. If he wants to be closer to "home"...he might accept MIN/CHI. It's possible. But it's not a choice of what team do I want to do go. It's a choice of which teams would I put on my list.
Not saying you're wrong...just A LOT more goes into those decisions.

I mean, it does make sense to me as well. I'm not 100% sure we'll be the home run UFA targets, but we know what we have with Reece / Entwistle. Almost 200 NHL games. He's probably not part of the next step forward. I like Kampf more in that role than Entwistle anyway. Reaves above is a healthy scratch most games. I mean...if they got Reinhart, yeah I'm in. Curious what that contract would need to be at this stage of the Hawks rebuild, but I'm open to it for sure.
Not sure if he talked about Rockford, but looks like they're trying to turn that roster a bit too. Lardis, Hayes, Ludwinski, potentially Nazar.

Too many younger guys looking for roster spots. I think we leave them open for guys like Nazar, Dach, Guttman, Anderson, slaggart to battle for. Bedard, kurashev, hall, reichel, foligno, dickinson, AA, donato will be locks. Maybe bring in one outside guy and let those 5 guys battle for the last 3 spots, with Entwistle and blackwell type guys taking the 4th line/extra forward roles</div></div>
I guess I'm ok with another forward being added. Injury or potential Hall TDL move. We needed Sanford/AB/etc... this past year. More payroll in LTIR at one point than in the ice.
