Garland
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>the whole point of them getting Kap was to get someone big and fast who would go fight for the puck. You replace him with another 5'10 midget winger.
They aren't going to do that. Especially when the team is playing so well.
If they move a guy out it's Zucker.</div></div>
Bryan Rust is 5’11 and is arguably one of the best forecheckers in the NHL. Mind explaining that one to me if 5’10 is “too small?”

Then add in the fact that Pittsburgh’s roster is filled with Rutherford/Allvin guys and it sets up for a perfect trade fleecing.

Rick Dhaliwal is reporting that they’re already taking calls on him so that’s why I did it. Garland is probably the closest thing you could get to a potential Bryan Rust replacement if they so happen to need one.

MTL Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>MASSIVE overpay by the Pens. A 2nd + Blomqvist? No way. Plus you're adding Kulak. a dman the Pens have no need for.
I'd re-shape this to send DeSmith, Zucker, 3rd and either Hallander or Bjorkqvist. Blomqvist is an above average goalie prospect and I just don't think that combo is worth it.
So personally I'd frame it like this...
TO MTL: Zucker, DeSmith, 3rd and Hallander or BJorkqvist
TO PIT: Allen + Lehkonen</div></div>
That’s not bad...I’m really just looking for a backup because the last thing all of us want is Jarry starting 60+ games and flaming out in the playoffs because they don’t address the only blatant issue on the roster.

Pens Trade Idea from Other ACGM
I actually really like this but as the other guy said it only makes true sense if Matheson is involved. I really like the idea of Butcher as a third pair guy though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>I'm not against that. I think Zucker is a far better all-around player than Domi even though Domi has a few more goals, but getting Domi allows the Pens to let him go this off-season and free up the space.</div></div>
And even if they choose to keep Domi one would think he’d probably end up making less than the $5.3M hit he’s at right now.

It was supposed to be like that in Pittsburgh too and he ended up staying and running everything into the ground over 5 years post back to back run. You might think he’s gonna find another guy but he’ll never relinquish that power because he gets off on it.

I think we’re getting to a point where if things keep going the way they have for Dumoulin that it might be time to shelter him a bit. I know he’s on the covid list right now but when he’s been playing I feel like he’s played a role in letang and especially Marino struggling out of the gate.

Healthy lines I want to see
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>I said last year OConner would make the NHL and he did. He should stick on the team this year.
But he's not a 2nd line player. I like the guy, but he's part of the new bottom 6 that is coming.
The next one is Caulfield. You might see him at the end of this year if we are lucky.
They are gonna be the 4th line this team has been missing for some time. Big, Fast, Physical. Paired with a really great 3rd line with Blueger.
The team will have depth but the issue will be the cap in the top 6.
OConnor just doesn't have the high end needed to be a top 6. But he's gonna make a really great bottom 6 guy.
Your Defense will never work though. POJ isn't a 1LD. Matheson can't play the right side.
If he could they wouldn't be hoping and praying on Chad and Friedman.
They have to go out and find a RD. This is kind of like the GMJR move of last year. Start the season all screwed and then wait to see what you can trade for later.
The problem is, if their RD gets hurt, they are cooked. They can't afford to have 1 legit RD.
I think they are hoping Maniscalco can show after a little bit of time in WBS. He played all of 8 games last year jetting out of AZ due to COVID shutting it down.
The whole year was a mess for him. They are hoping to normalize that and see what he can do.
This team has no real RD prospects other than him, so if he doesn't turn out, they are gonna be screwed for years to come unless they can find a NCAA FA or find some cap space.
Hell other than Caulfield they don't have all that much at this point. Svejkovsky and Broz are the only other two worth keeping an eye on in the skaters. Everything they have at this point is in WBS and should be 1/2 to 1 year away or going on bust mode.</div></div>
So you’re not sold on Puustinen being a solid prospect?

1. After seeing some of the camp updates I wouldn’t be shocked if we see POJ-Letang to start which would set up a Pettersson-Matheson third pairing.
2. The only guy I see potentially making the roster that could be that type of game changer is Filip Hallander and even then I’d see the team running him in a McCann type third line role.

It would have been nice not to give up any of these players though.
Especially Archinbald and Oleksaik. They would’ve been big help in the play-offs.
I’m not a Sundqvist fan though. I think he’s overrated.
I think the Pens have better options in Gaudreau/ Angello/Lafferty/Zohorna/D.OConnor. IMO, all are better options and a lot cheaper.
Lafferty and E-Rod are even better Centers options too. Sundqvist mostly plays wing anyways. He’s not a good playmaker for his linemates. Not a good Center.
Mark Jankowski = O.Sundqvist.</div></div>
Either way they could’ve used Sundqvist in a different trade to actually bring in a good asset rather than fourth line garbage that played 5 mins a night under Mike Sullivan.
