They don’t even have someone to run the 2nd power play unit - he could be a Lou player but something has to give. Can’t have 5 stay at home D in the lineup

Guy can’t skate/keep up with his linemates and isn’t a net front force any more. If you want to make some real, meaningful changes to the roster, creatively finding a way to shed his full $7m cap hit is the way to do it. He’s a $4m player right now tops</div></div>
This ACGM is pretty solid, but agree with kyle_okposo_lover that fans are overreacting on Lee. He’s still strong at driving play offensively and he’s been tilting the ice in the isles favor.
Pageau, mayfield, engvall , cizikas are much bigger problems than lee

Brady Tkachuk To Solve the Puzzle
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riddick19</b></div><div>Yeah Ottawa doesn't even listen to that offer. Tkachuk won't be going anywhere. If he were to be traded? With 3 years left on his deal Dallas will have to be giving up a key piece from Dallas' roster....
Hintz, W. Johnston, 2025 & 26 1st round picks likely gets the convo going. Ottawa is not in rebuild, so sending us prospects especially without Stankoven, isn't going to get it done.</div></div>
Hintz? lol he’s a center and a better player than tkaxhuk

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FoxYou727</b></div><div>I agree Holms hasn't looked the best but Wally has been worse, Iskahov should at the very least get a look I agree but his size is whats going to keep him out of the show. While Bortuzzo isn't good (got him for a 7th), it is just a preference thing in not wanting a dman to play on his offside</div></div>
Holmstrom is not playing like an NHL player , Wahlstrom was not worse than this. Fans are still blinded by Holmstrom shorthanded goals not realizing he’s been one of the worst 5v5 forwards in the nhl this season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FoxYou727</b></div><div>I'd prefer having zeeker on the wing over pageau, personally I think both are to old and slow to be a responsible defensive centers. Holms should be on that 3rd line over Wally, and I know it is since you can't put him anywhere else but Lee should not be on the 1st line. D-lines I like but I am someone who doesn't like it when someone plays on their off side. I also don't see Iskahov making the NHL at 5'7 want to give him a chances considering how bad Lee, Pager and that 4th line been</div></div>
Holmstrom has been terrible for 3 straight months, he needs to take a seat in the press box for a while.
Iskhakov is 5’8, there are 5,8 players in the NHL therefore he should be given an extended look
Bortuzzo isn’t an NHL caliber defenseman so the decision should be easy

Not trading a 3rd pair defenseman for a top line winger based on liking the player is a choice

Barzal prefers Lw, either wing is a need right now. Romanov isn’t a player you build around - more of a complimentary player. Trading him for kyrou should be a no brainer

Just annoyed
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>There are certainly reasons he could be let go, but I don't think ownership let's him hire Roy if there was a possibility Lou got fired in the summer. Malkin/Ledecky don't know anything about hockey and will trust Lou implicitly whether it's right or wrong. Lou is GM/President/Alternate Governor of their board. He is entrenched here</div></div>
Lou can’t put together a good hockey team anymore. At some point he has to step down or be let go.
Isles have 6 forwards right now that are playing at a 4th line level or worse: Engvall, pageau, holmstrom, violas, Martin , clutter. Half the lineup. They don’t look like they’re playing the same sport as other teams.
Roy is frustrated because knows the isles lack players with basic passing and skating skills

I don’t know how Lou keeps his job past this season. Mayfield, Engvall contracts are among the worst in the league. Pageau has become a liability. He can’t manage the cap and acquire good young players

What will Dobsons next contract be
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>I thought Seider signed $8x8 already? Maybe I’m mistaken there. I have no doubt he’s getting a max term extension. I thought Pulock at the time was fairly team friendly</div></div>
Yeah he’s not signed yet. He’s coming out of an ELC so it’s a different situation. The defenseman I listed are ones that I can think of who were bridged 2-3 years then given a long term deal.
Pulock was coming off of a down year, I think it was market value

What will Dobsons next contract be
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>Werenski had total leverage on CBJ as they had stars leaving the team left and right. He had to be overpaid to stay. I think Dahlin is a great player but to me that was also an overpay. I realize he didn’t bridge first but Seider signing $8x8 still feels like a decent comparable. Hoping for less, but I still don’t think Dobson will get more than Horvat’s $8.5</div></div>
The same reason werenski had leverage is why Dobson does as well. There’s no reason for him to take less than his comparables when no one on the isles has taken a discount relative to market value recently.
Dahlin was a slight overpay, but the market is the market. Young #1 defenseman are rare and get paid.
Seider hasn’t signed 8x8. Also Horvat has been very good this season but it doesn’t work that way where Dobsons ceiling for cap hit is a top 6 center who signed as a UFA at 28 years old.
I would love for Dobson to sign 8x8 but there’s not one contract I can think of that points to Dobson getting less than 8.5 mill. Point per game defenseman don’t grow on trees

At the time of signing contracts , there’s not a player I can think of who signed below market value besides Pelech. Lou has given every RFA + UFA market value or above market value contracts.
Here are the #1 defenseman off the top of my head who have signed contracts coming off of a bridge contract
Dahlin: 11 x 8
Mcavoy: 9.5 x 8
Werenski: 9.5 x 6
Sergachev: 8.5 x 8

Never know with Lou, though we won't find out until the last minute, Lou doesn't work during the summer time, lol</div></div>
Lou doesn’t really have much leverage. Very similar to the barzal contact. Barzals counting stats didn’t warrant 9.15 x 8 but because Barzal drives a lot of the isles offense , Lou had no choice.
Only way isles trade Dobson is if he doesn’t want to sign long term IMO

With the bridge Dobson had 0 leverage. It was either sit out or sign the contract. He’s an RFA with arb rights and his comparable make more than 8 x 8. Young #1 RHD are one of the most valuable assets in the league, if he took his 1 year qualifying offer straight to UFA he’d get 9.5-10.5 mill as a UFA.
I wish he’d take 8x8, there’s just no incentive for him to. Horvat and barzal didn’t take discounts

Sanderson signed his contract coming out of his ELC producing at .5 PPG. Isles bridged Dobson and now have to buy out more UFA years when he’s at a point per game right now
