I wouldn't disagree on the value in general. A 1st + Top 4 RHD + Top 40 goal scoring LW + Top Prospect is a pretty good haul. The big question is do those pieces fit with CGY needs, thus holding the same value in CGY's eyes.

Debrusk has 2 years left then is a free agent not to mention 26 at the start of next season...neither fit the rebuilding cap window. Studnicka isn't exciting. Easy pass from the Hawks

Take far more than DeBrusk and Studnicka to get Kirby Dach out of Chicago.
If he's truly available Detroit could easily blow away that offer and not even bat an eyelash.

Not sure Edmonton does that. Firstly they don't have any cap space, but secondly Carlo's on-ice stats don't inspire confidence that he'll cover his $4.1M cap hit. He plays 2nd pairing minutes and comp but is underwater in every Rel category, and he doesn't get buried in defensive zone starts either. He's a black hole offensively and he got buried in the playoffs - which, based on xGF% Rel, is normal for him. His two main partners this year both did much better without him than with him.
He is a very good penalty killer though and he hits a lot, but that alone isn't worth $4.1M x 5 considering his mediocre 5v5 play.

Sens aren't moving Norris. Centres with the talent to score 40 goals don't exactly grow on trees.

Josh Norris will probably cost as much as Kevin Fiala to sign, And the Wild can't afford that with their upcoming cap crunch.

Ottawa isn't trading Norris. 23 year old center who scored 35 goals in 66 games... that's the type of player you build your team around.

I get the connection, and again, I guess it *could* happen, but you have to add a good pick and/or prospect going to CBJ. Even then, you're probably only getting Future Considerations from CBJ. BOS's gain is cap space.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>theleano1</b></div><div>Bro it's a hockey website i am not trying to write you my college essay chill
why would horvat walk? if you really think he will i don't think you can be helped</div></div>
It’s unreadable though. You’re posting with the intention of others reading your post. If you’re writing what should be seven sentences without any punctuation, its just not easy to read. Simple literacy stuff here.
As for why horvat would walk, you’re really going to say all that and accuse others of being homers? Well lets count the ways shall we:
1. He would be hitting UFA at 28. That’s an age where teams seem comfortable going max term and overpaying - hitting the market maximizes his value.
2. Let me preface this by saying this is not my opinion, it just seems to be accepted as fact given how frequently front office types speak of it. I love vancouver, its my favorite city in North America. I love canada. Amazing country. But players don’t want to be there. GMs constantly say that if a player has a 10 team no trade list, 9 times out of 10, all canadian teams are on it. It’s likely mostly a tax issue. Players make way more money in the states. It is what it is.
3. The Canucks are bad. They’re not terrible, but it just doesn’t seem like they’re going to be a contender any time soon. The center market is thin, horvat, while not being a top line player, would likely be able to pick a team that has some better pieces.
It’s pretty easy to see why horvat would at the very least test the market. Pretty hard to see why bergeron would.

- The Ottawa Senators traded Jean-Gabriel Pageau to the New York Islanders for a 2020 conditional first-round pick, 2020 second-round pick and a 2022 conditional third-round pick.
or another </strong>
- The St. Louis Blues traded Kevin Shattenkirk and Pheonix Copley to the Washington Capitals for a 2017 first-round pick, 2019 conditional second-round pick, Zach Sanford and Brad Malone.
This happens every year at the TDL, top players that are on expiring contracts on a sinking team get dealt for a lot.
Also what do you think Hertl is worth? I'm not even a SJ fan. He is a franchise player for SJ, you don't get franchise players for cheap.
The trades are according too: https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nhl/news/nhl-trade-deadline-first-round-picks-history-rumors-news-market-tracker/1h85s6s94cbxx1qoooczvsk7tf</div></div>
JGP was traded to the NYI on Feb 28th....he signed a 6yr/$30 million deal on Feb 28th per cap friendly. They had an extension already worked about before JGP was traded to the Islanders.

No we're well aware our prospect pool is weak, but other fans seem to think that the only guy we have is Lysell and that everyone else is a bum that probably doesn't even see time in the NHL. Lohrei is insanley underrated here because he wasn't a big name in the draft. The reality is he's a 6'4 d-man that was the best d-man in the USHL last year and ranked 6th overall among all USHL players in points. The next closest d-man to him in points has 14 less points in 5 more games played. This year at OSU he's top T-7th in points among all NCAA d-men.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hii</b></div><div>Lysell prbably would also be bellow some of the other 2020 draft picks but hey, don't want to offer market value then you won't get him, simple as that, he is a top notch centerman that has a three team no trade list. Boston would have to give up a top prospect, they would not care for Studicka and a bottom four defenceman plus late picks, they'd rather Eklund.
Hey, it's not like it happens every year in March, I think that time of year has a name for something, oh right the TDL, when teams who believe they have a shot ship out futures to get better now, it happes all the time, whatever pitiful offer the Bruins fans put isn't enough unless it uses one of your top prospects because you don't get a 5 time 20 goal man for free.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gary_bettman</b></div><div>All those years of Jack Edwards screaming in your ear finally taking a toll LOL</div></div>
can easily do so as theres no reason picks alone cant get it done. especially considering HE IS A RENTAL!!! you guys are beyond delusional if you think youll get more than the package above for a guy with no extension. its crazy how many fans on here think rentals = players with term and even those guys the ask is ridiculous. "oh you want pastrnak thats 7 firsts and your 3 best prospects, hes signed long term and has a great cap hit!" exaggeration but you get my point. Hertl is a rental. RENTAL, on a bad team hes a .75ppg player with 22 goals. hes arguably your 2nd best player behind meier right now. Heres the thing though guys... hes a free agent at the end of the year. there is ZERO guarantee he signs long term with san jose. you have 2 options. trade him or keep him and hope you can agree to an extension before he reaches ufa and you lose him for nothing. the bruins/any single team in the league isnt giving up a 1st and a top 50 prospect in the league for a rental. even a guy with term you arent getting even close to an eichel package. eichel comes with term and hes a superstar in the league. hertl isnt even close to that tier.
We know our pool is weaker in comparisons to the likes of say a rangers or a kings squad. and you know what maybe the rangers overpay a little bit to acquire hertl, but seriously... the rangers overpaying would be a 1st and chytil with a like 4th or 4th equivalent prospect. i could easily see it being a 1st chytil and matthew rempe or something like that from NYR side.
please for the love of god, look historically at the moves that have happened via the RENTAL market the prices you guys are asking are double/triple sometimes quadruple what players actually go for.

Reilly is worth a 3rd at least.
