<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Davidson</b></div><div>He doesn’t have to do any of that until he’s ready to play. In this exercise both GM’s are aware and respectful of Toews situation. There’s no rule that says after a trade he must immediately join the team he’s traded to. Honestly it would be more beneficial for Vegas if he stayed on LTIR until the playoffs.</div></div>
Again you are treating him like an asset and not a person, he doesn’t want to go anywhere.
This situation is not respectful of his wishes, his wishes are to remain jn Chicago and get healthy
Unless he comes out a week later and said he had a change of heart there is no respectful toews trade talks by any GM. Bc any trade talks are GM basically saying we heard what you said toews but we don’t care, trying to work out a deal and we are hoping you change your mind ,

I really don’t see anything wrong with checking in during the final hour and giving him the option. The guy is a competitor and the trade is paperwork for all intents and purposes. What is he going to do flip out because you gave him to opportunity to go to a contender? If he’s healthy I bet he would want to go.
You are right about the statement stuff but I’m not lobbying for anything outside of Toews interests here.</div></div>
If he’s concerned about his health, I don’t think a last minute offer to join a contender, moving to a new city, new stressful situation, separating himself from his home and family is high on his priority list

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Davidson</b></div><div>You just repeated yourself and didn’t explain why it’s disrespectful. Giving Toews an option to play playoff hockey is not disrespectful, and GM’s talk about trades without players knowledge constantly. For all intents and purposes this scenario is trading his rights (with his consent) and giving him a shot on a contender (which he can choose to play for whenever he’s ready).
My understanding is that he wouldn’t be traded because he doesn’t believe it’s fair because he’s not 100%. What if a GM said I don’t care I want him?</div></div>
Use common sense and it explains why it’s disrespectful
Read his press release and then ask yourself, would you appreciate if the hawks didnt at all respect the wishes of yours even though they claimed they did? So the hawks aren’t being patient and respectful of the situation by coming back to him 2 weeks later with a trade idea. So the hawks aren’t supporting his wishes for the season and trying to change his mind asking him to waive. That’s why it’s disrespectful.
The only way this changes if toews and toews alone approaches the team and has a change of heart
Considering how toews has been one of the most protective players in regards to public perception of him, there is basically 0 chance he reconsiders. Someone as calculated as he is doesn’t put out a press release unless he’s 100% certain this is what he’s got to do. He’s not going yo change his mind now

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Davidson</b></div><div>I edited the title from “Jonathan Toews should be traded” to just “Jonathan Toews” in reaction to your and others post which got the wrong idea from the title. I never intended to say they should trade him against his will hence the description. I don’t see anything wrong with changing the title for that reason.
Also, still two weeks to go until the deadline, things could change between now and then although given the statement it’s very unlikely. Still, What would be wrong with KD going to Toews on deadline day and saying “I’ve got a deal lined up if you want to move no pressure” I figure as long as there is open communication from all parties and conditions to match up with performance it’s a good opportunity for a guy likely staring down retirement.</div></div>
Yes it would be wrong bc it’s disrespectful to try to work on deals on moving him after he said he wants to stay
Asking him to waive is bad enough but coming to him with an worked out deal asking him if he would waive is beyond disrespectful,
Toews said he wishes for the rest of the season, there is no scenario of the hawks working or anything from now on..

</em></strong>
Never said anything even remotely like you are insinuating.</div></div>
Nice edit of your team name that said they should still trade toews,
So your description and narrative said 2 different things which is why I posted. Why did you edit the roster name then
And it’s still disrespectful to ask him again, he has said he wants to stay, it’s a closed book now

Hawks would be telling him to waive so they can treat him like an asset and Not a human being which is pretty disrespectful considering his comments and wishes

For periods of MacKinnon’s career, Landeskog was almost always F3 in the defensive zone while MacKinnon had easier defensive responsibilities more like a winger. Once they move to the offensive zone, MacKinnon takes over as a more traditional C.
It’s not ideal and it’d be an awkward fit, but stranger things have been posted on this godforsaken website.</div></div>
but if hes not playing on Macks Line, hes not goign to get that transitional fluid hybrid role at C, it will be more straight line C which I think isnt that easy to shift to so late in his career. He really will be playing a traditional C position with his responsibilities in all zones. I think its risky

having some nice disuccions with Ducks fans on the site, a 1st for him 50% retained. Which would be nice pick up bc of the additional term and you get a transitional 2C over the next season and a half

Well trading for wingers and forcing players to play a position that is not their natural role is not a solution either
I have said Many times in the past that Adam Henrique is the ideal trade piece for the avs, he adds a nice short term solution to the 2c spot, allows newhook to grow into it more, and Henrique does what the avs do well, hes smart, a good skater, great defensively
your solution doesnt really fit with bendar, Kane as offensively gifted he is, is a awful defensibly, like one of the worst in the leagues for a top line player. Hes not gong to change how he plays on the avs, and that wont work well under Bednar

Nevertheless, this is bad. Even if Newhook never develops beyond what he is today: Newhook and a 1st for Kane is just bad for who Kane is at this point of his career.
He was fun to watch in his prime, but those days are long gone unfortunately.</div></div>
he never plays up the middle of the ice, face-offs are not what being a Center is about, He would have to change how he plays his game to actually play C, its not as simple as hes good defensively and takes draws so lets shift him to the middle. I dont doubt that Landy could learn to play Centre but he has never in his career, so why force it now

Of course when supply is down and demand is up players values fluctuate accordingly. There is 1 good 2C option available on the market (Monahan) and 3-5 teams will be competing to acquire his services. Hughes has set his price and can now hold out and wait for someone to match it, so many teams are already filling their holes and the best players are already gone. The Avs are being left behind quickly cause Sakic missed out on ROR and Horvat, if they miss out on Monahan and Domi they will be a first round exit or team on the wrong side of the cut off for sure. Guess we will find out in the next 2 weeks if the Avs and Sakic have the balls to make moves or if they are just another 1 and done cup team.</div></div>
another 1 and done cup team? Dude just give your head a shake and no need to try to troll with nonsense statements like that. How many repeat cup champs have there been in the last 20 years. You are trying to act ike it's embarrassing if a team doesnt repeat. Pretty big statements from a franchise who hasn't won a cup in almost 30 years.
How on earth do you know the avs missed out on any of those guys. And Sakic is not the GM anymore, it's MacFarland. Get the facts straight first.

Monahan has yet to even return from his injury. St Louis said he recover had plateau'd. that is not an encouraging statement about him
He didnt just become the hottest trade commodity, he still has major question marks if hes going to return anytime soon and if he does at what level of play will be resuming at
Teams are not going to over pay blindly on him until he returns. His value is very low until he comes back, and the clock is ticking if he is able to play 1 game before the deadline

it all depends on what Comtois wants on his next contract. Hes 2m QO. If he is expecting a raise, I would say not worht it. if hes willing to sign for less or the same as his QO then im good with this.
