Dallas Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>justaBoss</b></div><div>I like the BOS trade, but I doubt they're willing to move first rounders at this rate. BOS doesn't look like a cup favorite this year, they're like the fourth best team of their own division and would certainly go to the playoffs as one of the underdogs.</div></div>
They are most likely the fourth best team in the Atlantic come playoff time, but they could fall into a wildcard spot and move over to play Metro opponents. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bruins go all out on a couple of rentals to try to win a cup while Rask is on a cheap deal and Bergeron is still producing at a high level. Then the Bruins can utilize that cap space to signs someone in the offseason for a more long-term fix at 2C

Check out my Dallas retooling, I was able to move both Pavelski and Radulov to boston with retention for a decent return. Let me know what you think

I think Pavelski would be a better fit in boston than Radulov, Boston is still looking for a centre to replace Krecji (spelling my bad lol), and Pavelski has played centre for the majority of his career in San Jose.

On my post with the Oilers, there's a similar discussion about Barrie for Hoffman instead; and this is a more fair swap considering both pieces have term and have not worked out well for either team this season. Both are PP specialists and are 1-dimensional, but both could find their stride on the opposite team respectively.

Fixing Hollands Mess This season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SevenLeg</b></div><div>
The only trade that could make sense for Barrie is either Armia or Hoffman, aka another player with term that wouldn't be super attractive on the trade market. Ben Chiarot can land valuable futures that are more beneficial to the future of this team than Barrie. And nothing suggests that they still want to compete despite being last place, players are automatically sidelined with very minor injuries, key veterans (Edmundson/Byron/Price) are not being rushed to come back, players miss games for very odd reasons (Romanov & Evans both missed time because their equipment was lost in travel or something like that), Dominique Ducharme is still employed). Actually, everything hints to the opposite, they're not looking to compete.</div></div>
I like Hoffman for Barrie a lot better than Armia for Barrie. Hoffman would be a nice addition to the middle 6 of edmonton and it hasn't worked out well for Montreal for him. I think the swap of terms is also a fair price.

Fixing Hollands Mess This season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SevenLeg</b></div><div>It'd be awful for them to do so. It's not very Jeff Gorton-esque either, as he was really committed to losing for a few years in NY.</div></div>
This is more of a conversation starter than a trade, as I could see Barrie fitting into Montreal as their PP QB while Romanov develops, but it's hard to determine what Gorton will do with Montreal with their current situation, and they very well could stand pat or sell ahead of the deadline. Bergevin let a lot of key pieces go last off-season, and Chiarot will likely be dealt for a pick or prospects rather than a player to replace him.

Fixing Hollands Mess This season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>One can argue that Yamamoto, Broberg, Savoie and the first, minus one of the cap dumps, is the proper value for Chychrun. (I think it's a little short in light of what I'm willing to part with as the Los Angeles GM, but let's accept that premise for the purpose of this discussion.) That leaves the other cap dump plus the third for Crouse, which is clearly inadequate.
If you want to get rid of Koskinen (for cap purposes this season) and Kassian (for cap purposes in the future), it's going to cost you at least one other major asset just for Chychrun alone.</div></div>
Thank you for addressing this, the cap dump prices have to also be considered, which I have forgotten. Koskinen would be an easier cap dump for this season than Kassian, and the price for Koskinen's cap dump should be less than Kassian's. However, I do see that Savoie, a third, and an NHL piece would be an adequate starting offer for Crouse. My original deal for Chychrun was Yamamoto, Broberg and a first round pick, which I believe is a fair market price for Chychrun. He won't receive an Eichel-like return, but his contract will allow him to fetch a return of a middle-six F/bottom-four D, a top prospect and a first round pick.

Hard to sign a guy who is already with another organization</div></div>
I'm aware of the PTO with the Iowa wild, but this does not mean he's signed with the Wild organization. He's merely using the Iowa Wild as a conditioning stint for the Olympics, he'd need to sign an NHL two-way or one-way contract to play with Minnesota, and is technically still a free agent. Though I do see it likely he resigns in minnesota once the Olympics are over.

Dallas Retool
This was my thought process with Calgary:
1. The Flames have expressed interest in bringing back a Giordano, therefore are in the market for an offensively minded dman. I understand that Gio has a more well-rounded game, but he'll be retired within the next 3 seasons.
2. Andersson and Kylington are the most offensively minded dman on the Flames, however both their xGF% over the last three seasons is less than Klingberg at all situations. However, it is important to note the limitations of this argument: Klingberg has been a perennial offensive dman for the last decade, while Andersson and Kylington has recently seen an increase in their TOI over the last two seasons.
3. The Flames are looking to hold onto Johnny Gaudreau, making a splash that could lead to long-term contracts for both Gaudreau and Klingberg that would be beneficial to the Flames' future.
4. The price for Klingberg is going to be high, he has a very manageable cap hit, and the market for top-2 caliber defencemen shows that teams are willing to pay absurd amounts of money and assets to obtain these pieces. A young dman that has his minutes and opportunities limited due to competition within the lineup (Valimaki), a top prospect (Peltier), and a high draft pick (2nd). This is very similar to the Muzzin deal (two high-end prospects and a first round pick), but Muzzin has a complete game to him whereas Klingberg can struggle in the D-zone. I used the Muzzin deal, the Trouba deal, the Seth Jones deal, and the Subban trade to the devils to gauge trade value.
I can see where the flames say no to this deal, but I also believe that they are heading into a win-now mode with Gaudreau and Monahan potentially departing after this season. They'll likely ride with their top 4 as it is right now, and replace Gubranson and Zadorov if they choose to. Defense is not the issue in Calgary, but they had troubles earlier in the season with scoring on the powerplay, which Klingberg solves.

Balance - Home Sweet Home
The Anaheim and Columbus trades are brutal from the Oilers' perspective. A top 10 drafted dman from 2019 (defence takes longer to develop such as Nurse), two high second-round picked forwards with promise that fell from the first round draft in their respective draft classes, and an additional first for a dman that plays similarly to Larsson and a third-line centre is a head-shaker for me. You even have Haula, a respectable and accountable 3rd-line centre, signed in FA. I like Manson, but Bob Murray's price is way too high. If we aren't acquiring Rakell (and signing an extension), Manson, and one of Comtois/Terry/Jones in exchange for your proposed package; the Oilers should steer clear.
Puljujarvi had an amazing defensive season while showing flashes of offensive confidence with his shooting decisions and zone entries, shipping him to Columbus for an ageing second-liner that has regressed the past two seasons while also giving a decent trade piece in Jones to Columbus does not make much sense either.
I like the Arvidsson trade, it's fair and he'd add that gritty forechecking ability needed to win offensive puck battles to help set up Mcdavid/Drai for their magic. For what the Oilers receiving in the Anaheim/Columbus trades; they can find replacement level players in free agency without giving up substantial assets.
