2019-2020 Salary Projections
If these projections end up being somewhat accurate, and assuming Lyon is sent down and Hagg ends up getting dealt, it leaves between $5.5M-$6M to find a backup goalie, a 3rd line winger who can contribute offensively and a 13th forward. Might be tight squeeze, but should be doable.

Gotta Spend it This Time
There is a better chance of me making the NHL and leading the NHL in scoring next season then there is of the Flyers being willing to trade Sanheim for Drouin straight up. Not gonna happen.

I agree on Nelson. Doesn't seem like his name gets brought up anywhere near as much as it should. Very much not a fan of the Flyers signing Duchene. He's a good player but he's going to be paid like he's an elite player and is therefore going to be overpaid.
I think Hagg will fetch more than people expect. 24 year old defenseman with two full season of NHL experience who, while not amazing, is decently reliable and will still be an RFA at the end of his current deal. Not an exciting player, but definitely the type of guy that a lot of teams could use.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>Unfortunately cap space becomes an issue here, Konecny and Sanheim will probably get more than your deals, not much more, but more nonetheless. Also, next year you'll have 6.3 mil in cap space plus whatever the cap goes up to, to then sign Patrick, Lindblom, and Myers.</div></div>
Yeah I agree. Realized while doing this that while they have a ton of space, it's definitely not unlimited cap space. I originally wanted to see what signing Karlsson and Hayes would look like, but Hayes turned out to be too expensive to I thought Nelson was a good backup plan for what Fletcher is looking for.
This was kind of more just a short-term thought experiment to see what, in my opinion, an ideal Flyers team would look like next year, but you're right; the long-term cap implications make it a bit unrealistic.

Return on Ghost would be considerably more than what Muzzin went for. I think it would be more similar to what McDonagh went for. Not saying he's as good as McDonagh, but he's younger, has more term left on his deal and is cheaper.
Also fans who say he's purely offensive don't know hockey. He's by no means a great defensive defenseman, but what he does really well is control the puck, and the other team can't score when they don't have the puck. I'd take him over some huge lumbering defenseman who never controls the puck but is great at blocking shots or doing any of the other things that casual fans associate with "great defensive defenseman" any day.

I will also try to educate you, to teach you about the sport you so clearly love but so clearly know very very little about. So, in light of that, here is an article that debunks all the of the stupid "LETS TRADE GHOST" comments: <a href="https://theathletic.com/815979/2019/02/14/debunking-the-myths-surrounding-flyers-defenseman-shayne-gostisbehere-at-the-trade-deadline/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://theathletic.com/815979/2019/02/14/debunking-the-myths-surrounding-flyers-defenseman-shayne-gostisbehere-at-the-trade-deadline/</a> (need a sub to The Athletic, but if you don't already have one than I strongly recommend it).
Maybe you can read this and come out a better and smarter Flyers fan!
I truly am a kind soul.

Haha I would very much hope so.
In reality though I think your initial idea is probably closest to reality and wouldn't be shocked if it happens. Paying a 3rd rounder to dump Talbot and clear $$ isn't that high of a price for EDM, and though the last thing the Flyers need is ANOTHER mediocre goalie, Talbot and Hart are clearly close off of the ice, and if Talbot's presence helps Hart develop further its a deal that would work for PHI as well.

Ghost's 5-on-5 career possession numbers: +2.5% Relative Corsi
Provorov's Power-Play career possession numbers: -6.8% Relative Corsi
Literally everything you just said was wrong. Ghost is a way better 5-on-5 player than he gets credit for, and as much as I love Provorov, he's abysmal on the powerplay.

Very clearly better than Elliott, also has been a significantly better playoff goalie in his career than Elliott. Not saying it's a huge upgrade in the regular season, but I think it would make a huge difference come playoffs, as Anderson has shown several times in his career that he is capable of flat-out stealing playoff series. Obviously he had a rough year last year, and that could be him just declining, but I think it's a worthwhile risk considering the Flyers would still hold onto Elliott so it's low-risk and the upside is significant.

Though I think him coming to Philly is a long-shot, I like the Tavares idea. Also wouldn't mind Carlson in a vacuum, but wouldn't be able to afford both him and Tavares considering the RFAs whose contracts will need to be renewed next summer (Provy + TK), plus Carlson is coming off a career year and paying guys coming off career years is always dangerous. Not a fan at all of the Lehner idea. Thats a lot to give up for him, he's barely better than what they already have, and he blocks Carter Hart who should be in the NHL some time next year, or at the latest the year after that.
