Right ;) - you’re not jealous, but you take time out of your day to randomly take shots at the Leafs :smirk . I never comment on the Habs or any other team (unless responding to something their fans say) Because i don’t care about them - until we’re playing them. I find Leaf obsession by non Leafs fans weird, but chacun son gout</div></div>
It will be an entertaining season and hope for the sake of the franchise they don't dissapoint their fanbase. You should seriously think about chearing for another franchise if the one of the reason to stay a Leafs fan is and i quote "The one thing that keeps me going is soaking up the jealousy of the never ending Leafs jealousy of other teams fans".

One of the only things that keeps me going is soaking up the never ending Leaf jealousy of other team’s fans :tearsofjoy . Imagine a Habs fan (first team in history to finish 32nd) telling us Matthews is going to leave the premiere franchise in the league and the centre of the hockey universe :D . You better get used to him (& Leafs) torching the Habs for a few more years :squ
I am not jealous of you as a fan, in fact i feel sorry for the fans and franchise. As a NHL fan i enjoy watching the Leafs among other clubs. As a Habs fan i enjoy watching the playoff implosions, shaniplan, the Babcock era, Dubas actions as a Mgr. It's priceless entertainment.</div></div>

While i agree with comment, most NHL teams replace those players with successful draft picks. On the other hand acquiring McMicheals might be a replacement for Matthews when he gets traded in the final year of his contract.

Maybe your right. I am not suggesting you lose Weager, in fact, Kylington salary of 2.5 million can be added Weager futur salary.
Anderson plays with speed and truculence. Kadri paired up with Anderson would be lethal. When paired up with good players, he was very successful in WC.
The interest lies in Killington. First and 5th pick is a good start. We can send Calgary prospects along with more picks.

The detriment is the cap hit, Dubas awarded so much cap to Matthews, Marner, Nylander and now Reilly. If his cap hit was distributed to other positions it would make the Leafs a better team.

Dubas grows some stones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>I would spend the 3-5m to improve the top 6 forwards or a RHD, I know Chychrun can play the right side, but unless they are trading Brodie+ for him, getting him doesn't make sense because of his health. I don't think Dubas would change the division of the cap in terms of paying players with bigger roles more money. Without the pandemic, some predicted that the cap would be at least 10m more than it is now. The idea that they have to spend more on depth might not necessarily be true.
The fact that it's hard to gauge what Chychrun actually is why I said if he's acquired by Toronto his game is going to be under a microscope and if he struggles the media will tear him and Dubas apart or if he continues to get injured then Dubas will get criticized for giving up a ton for an injury prone defensemen who at 24 already has a lengthy injury history. Then fans who are suggesting acquiring him now, will be criticizing Dubas in 2 years (whether he's around or not) for that move now that he needs a pay raise in a year, and they will be making ACGMs trading him away.[/quote
Chychrun has 3yrs of term remaining on his contract. The fact that he is only 24 and none of his injuries deal with concussions or career ending injuries it could just be bad luck and a ****ty team.</div></div>

Dubas grows some stones
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Not a good trade for anyone. Can't see Arizona having any interest in a Chychurn package based around a soon-to-be 32 year old John Tavares, a 33 year old Jake Muzzin, and what will most likely be a trio of late 1st rounders, even if you could convince two local boys to waive their NTCs so they can leave their Cup contending team and go play in a college rink in the desert.
In this trade scenario, Muzzin gets bought out becoming UFA and Tavares gets moved to Columbus. Arizona acquires 3 first round picks for Chychurn. They also move Tavares to Columbus for another 1st. That is a pretty good haul that can be used for picks or traded away.
Beyond that, this totally wrecks one of this team's major strengths - the top 6. You really think running Evan Rodrigues-Willie Nylander-Sonny Milano is better than Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander?
Kerfoot and Nylander are still playing for Leafs. If you think Nylander sucks at centre have a read on this article from 2021...very well written article. https://theleafsnation.com/2021/05/22/william-nylander-should-be-the-2c/
Maybe Arizona *does* make the trade after all, because even though they don't need two veterans on the wrong side of 30, this is going to turn the Leafs into an also-ran pretty quick. The upgrade from Muzzin to Chychurn isn't drastic enough to paper over the fact that you've broken your middle 6 with one move, and have no picks to use to acquire the assets that your newfound cap space could bring on.</div></div>
How do you think a young 24yr old Chychrun with term and good cap isn't much of an upgrade? What are your thoughts on Murray injury history?

Tavares is such a fan of his beloved Leafs and realizes that because of Pandamic and cap restraints that his cap is detriment to the success of the team. As a fan he would rather see them win a cup rather than lose the opportunity to do so with the core going forward. Tavares also get traded from Arizona to Columbus with 50% retention. Plus, chances are that Chychrun would be on your ACGM in 2 years as the move Dubas shouldn't have made. He's injury prone and weaknesses in his game are going to be pointed out more by Toronto media vs instead of his strengths if he struggles, and then you'll view him in a different light.</div></div>
Hard to determine his strengths and weekness on a terrible Arizona team. He is 24 yrs old and still developing.
Say the cap this season had risen without pandemic, if there was an extra 3-5 million where would you spend the money to make this current roster a cup?

The kids are still in the system. Middlestat sucks and Girgunson can be replaced with Krebs. I have 5 guys on ELC contracts playing next season. Added a seasoned goalie...Urkha has hip issues dating back to Junior hockey playing for Sudbury and will never make the show due to the problems. Did you miss that Habs are taking on Monahan entire contract, are retaining cap on Lekhonen and Armia as well as two draft picks. You want Suzuki, not gonna happen, how will you be able to pay him next season and sign your UFA's. If you were to buy out Monahan next season he costs a little over 2million for two seasons...essentially with 900k retention you are getting Armia for 500K a season until his third year. Along with the cap space for the trade deadline...it gives Calgary the best chance at a cup this season.

Defense wins cups. Savard won a cup last season and Edmundson, what was it ragdolled Matthews last year to the final. Lehkonen also played in the cup final. Pitlick is a great player producing .6 pts a game for the awful Habs, has exceptional speed and would pair up nicely with Bunting. With the exception of Rielly that defense core will be bruising to play against and will win at least a playoff series if not more.
