Looks reasonable but flip Brodie & Edmunsen imo. Brodie + McCabe last year was NFG in playoffs

Like the signings, but geez, teams need a 7th NHL Dmen. Reaves can't be a top 12 regular Surely there are cheaper and better UFA goalies are available that provide much more value than Vladar.
Having Brodie and Tanev signed too about 2m combined cheaper might be answer.

Maple Leafs Cap Compliant Trade Deadline
Trading a 1st for an injury riddled 34 year old pending UFA isn’t a smart idea. Yes the Leafs have heavy interest in Tanev, but I don’t think it’s for the 24’ 1st round pick level - they might rather take their chances and see if he hits free agency and sign him for nothing instead. Management realizes the team isn’t at a level of where it needs to be right now and part of that is the depth within the organization, Treliving is stressing to build up the prospects for that pick is more valuable to him than people think.
I think the only way the 24’ 1st round pick gets moved is for a defenceman with term - my guess is Ristolainen who Toronto has also had heavy interest in and has 4 years on his deal at a good cap hit.

Leafs don't get a pick back.

Leafs Opening Night Roster
This is quite possible. I am still curious what happens with Noah Gregor.
Lafferty would need to be waived or traded for Gregor to make it. There is a chance that happens in my mind.
Of course, they may send Minten down to juniors as well, to make sure they can sign Gregor and not lose Lafferty.
We will see what happens!

Thank you for the positive feedback, I really appreciate it!
If Colorado wants a second, I'm going to assume Toronto waits until July 1st and rolls the dice that he will accept our contract offer at 7 years rather than 8. I'm not personally willing to give more up for him since he still isn't obliged to actually extend a contract with us once we acquire him. But I can understand your point of view, Toews is a great player. Sakic did a great job in his time as General Manager of your team, class act.</div></div>
Hello bg77.
Thank you for your hilariously proper greeting :tearsofjoy. I really enjoy it.
Anyway, I can understand your point as well. We'll see how the dice roll next year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bg77</b></div><div>Hello Avsfantrumpetman,
Thank you for the feedback!
In my opinion, I honestly think it would be wise for Colorado to consider alternatives to signing Toews. You guys need to make sure there is enough money to keep Rantanen, Makar, and Byram once they expire. I also believe that an area of weakness when I look at Colorado is depth forwards, primarily up the middle. A lot of what your team does is going to depend on how Ryan Johansen fares in his first full season with the team. I would personally be inclined to use the money you would be giving Toews to add second line players and rebuild the depth upfront that was lost when guys like Kadri and Burakovsky left Colorado after your cup win. If Byram stays healthy, I would be content to run with Makar, Byram, Girard, and Manson as my top-four D core. Just my own thoughts and would like to here where you are at with this.</div></div>
That is a very good assessment of Colorado's situation. honestly, it's better than some of our own fans.

Did I miss something about Makar’s contract cause he has 4 years left currently and would be 3 given the season of your ACGM.

My feeling is the Avs shouldn't re-sign Toews precisely because they won't have money to re-sign core players and put a good enough team around them. They need more depth, they may have to replace Landy and guys like Byram, Mikko and Cale are going to want significant raises when the time comes, which is soon. They definitely should trade Manson but a core of Makar, Byram and Girard surrounded by complementary but less expensive D will work just fine.

He is definitely and underrated player.
I wouldn't want to go over 6 years. I can see a 5 or 6 year deal. In the range of $7 million AAV or just over that range.
But, an open market FA, a team realistically could give him 7 years and over $8 million AAV.

At 8.25, I think the Avs keep him. Giving him the 8th year will likely save the Avs a millie</div></div>
I just don't know if our front office is in the business of giving term to guys who will be past 35 when that deal expires. I have no clue how the Toews stuff is gonna turn out if I'm honest.

I can see Toronto re-signing both Bertuzzi and Domi.
I like Toews, but this is a MONSTER contract to give him. I wouldn't give him that much $ or that much term.
However, a team on the open market, he could very well get something like this.
