That's what I mean though; this trade likely has them taking a step back this year. At best next year some of the young guys will challenge for spots and then hopefully a year or two after that they'd be back to where they are now at that position.

And if you plan on sliding Nino back over to LW that really leaves Coyle and Pominville as the only legit Top-9 RW options, which is frightening.

If you trade Granlund for a package like this you're having to sign, imo, two top-9 C/RW players (depending on where you see Ek playing).

I also have trouble understanding the allure of Kane anymore. It's been 4 or 5 years since he had a good season. Part of that is Buffalo, part of that is his play, and part of that is his off-ice/injury troubles.

Like I said, I think this would be a step-back for the Wild and with the contracts/players they have that doesn't really make sense.</div></div>

A step back really would mean making the Playoffs as a Wild Card and getting bounced in the first round. Instead of making the Playoffs as a 2 seed and getting bounced in the first round like last year.</div></div>

Lmao sadly this is probably very true

I'd much rather keep Zucker too.

I'm not convinced Pommer has it in him to play top-9 minutes anymore over the course of a season.

In any event, I think that's a decision I would make next summer when I had a better handle on that roster and cap situation then. I'm just afraid they make a move like that one year too soon and then are left scrambling to replace that production before the young guys are ready.
