More important, this was a tale of two seasons, pre Tuch v post Tuck:
Skinner pre Tuch 30 games 9 goals, 8 assists, 17 pts; post Tuch 50 games 24 goals, 22 assists, 46 pts.
Thompson pre Tuch 27 games 10 goals, 8 assits, 18 pts; post Tuck 48 games 28 goals, 22 assists, 50 pts.
While Skinner and Thompson were off and running, projecting their early performance over 82 games to 25 and 30 goals respectively.
But post Tuch they are running at nearly a point a game with their goal production over 82 games projected at 40 and 48 goals respectively.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Zinger</b></div><div>All jokes aside, this trade actually makes sense from a Florida standpoint because it was highly unlikely that they could keep Huberdeau and Weegar after next season, and they receive an elite young power forward locked up on an 8 year deal to play beside Barkov for them. Giving up another 1st and solid prospect isn't the most logical move though.

Calgary of course gets Huberdeau to hopefully try to pick up where Gaudreau left off, and Weegar to solidify their top 4 D core. Plus a first round pick and great prospect in Schwindt creates a perfect return for the flames. Now only time will tell who wins this trade in the long run once we see what's left of Huberdeau and Weegar for 23-24 for Calgary.</div></div>

If neither resign during the year, Calgary simply retains 50% at the TDL and trades 'em to get a even bigger haul than Tkachuk. There is no risk for Calgary. People are going galaxy brain. Calgary wins easily!
