Trade Theory
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>In_it_to_winnik</b></div><div>Lafferty, Raddysh, Dickinson, Domi are all sorta reclamation projects imo. I'm not high on Robertson but he has had success at every level. Simply can't stay healthy (done for the season). Hes a worth while buy for a team looking for young talent with potential. I didn't say he's the only asset going back.
Conditional pick (up to 1st) , cap dump and prospect seems like a deal that benefits both sides and will do right for a player that has given everything for Chicago. I still think he moves to Dallas to play with Seguin. Gurionov probably goes back in that deal as a player that could do better in a different environment.</div></div>
If I'm Chicago I'm taking Robertson over Gurianov, younger player with more potential (even though he's been injury prone so far). Gurianov is a solid player but further along in his development and his career, not exactly what Chicago needs at the moment unless they plan to continue to be mediocre

I honestly think Chicago would rather lose him for nothing in free agency than take this package</div></div>
What's your offer then? Robertson is still a young player with potential. Could replace Anderson with someone like Abruzzesse/Steeves/McMann if you want but I'd like to hear your offer

The Hawks easily decline this :tearsofjoy not even close, this is something you offer for a 4th liner not a top 6 forward, and in this case your RW1</div></div>
Make the 3rd a 2024 1st then, but I don't think Dubas is spending a 1st on a rental. Made that mistake once for Foligno, pretty much the same situation as here, going after an older injured forward to play in the top 6. Won't be too expensive.

Likely Gavrikov
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Unlikely to be Gavrikov because CBJ wants a 1st+. One of the other Chychrun suitors will likely pay it.
Maybe McCabe, otherwise it will be an inexpensive add which is likely if they manage to land Meier. They won't be able to make 2 large moves without giving up a ton in both trades.</div></div>
I highly doubt the Leafs get Meier, too many teams willing to spend and I don't see the Leafs out-bidding anyone. I put it here because I'm trying to manifest it haha, I would love Meier on the Leafs. But considering they won't get him, maybe the bigger add will be a top-4 D

Taking a stab at fixing Van
As a Leafs fan I don't hate the value in that trade, but I have little to no interest in Garland anymore. I wanted him back when he was with the Yotes but now I don't see how he fits the team

Do you see Dryden Mckay as a prospect? If so where would he rank with the goalies? Leafs have underrated goalie prospects

Flipping Timmins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>that's my biggest take on it - like, did some Leafs fans forget why you traded for Timmins in the first place? at the very worst, if you like your D depth with that top 6 + Timmins, you can think about flipping out one of Benn or Mete if the demand is there, but that's as far as I'd go - moving out a redundant guy that's a pending UFA.</div></div>
This isn't a complete roster. The Leafs would need to go and get an insurance D for the playoffs but I can't imagine that it would be overly expensive to get a 7th guy and have Mete and Benn as 8 and 9. I'm purely considering the fact that you can flip someone you got for Curtis Douglas to then get a big fish. The whole "trading a paperclip up to a house" mentality. Buy low, sell high, and flip for more assets. Do I think the Leafs will do this? No. But I wanted to see what it could look like. I'm not disregarding the need for depth in the playoffs, I'm just seeing what that move could look like.

I'm sure there is another team that would pay a 2nd for a player like that, so replace LA with anyone.

If the Leafs were to do this then I would look for them to get a cheap 7th man. They also have Benn and Mete who have both played very well for Toronto so far this season when injuries have occured.

Remove both Jarry and Hart (Jarry can stay as the third I guess) and make Thompson and Kuemper the tandem</div></div>
To be honest, Canada's goaltending is not as strong as it used to be. None of them really stood out above the rest. Can swap any of those guys, but at the end of the day the team in front of them is good enough to make any goalies' job pretty easy

Not what I want but if Bo goes
There was a time when Garland was in ARI that I really wanted the Leafs to go after him. Now, not so much, at least not at that price. If we're trading Niemela, we are going after a bigger fish than Garland.

Moving Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JMEW</b></div><div>I just feel like ZAR andHunt are the players Toronto got for the specific thing Kampf excels at so it makes no sense not to have all 3 on a line. I get the Kampf and Engvall connection though, but I think Engvall would get that with Holmberg also.
I could also see going:
Kerfoot - Holmberg - ZAR
Hunt - Kampf - Engvall
I just don't think ZAR with Holmberg makes much sense since you would want that line providing bottom 6 offense.
Line 3 = Bottom 6 Offense.
Line 4 = Bottom 6 Defense.</div></div>
Yeah I can see them moving the bottom 6 lines around a bit, but ZAR is and always has been a purely defensive player with poor offensive production so I can't help feeling that he wouldn't be the best fit with Kerf and Holmberg if that's supposed to be a scoring support line. While Hunt hasn't produced in the NHL he did have great numbers in junior, so he does have some finishing touch capabilities. Could make a bit more sense with Kerf than ZAR. I think Kerfoot gets moved before the year is done, though, since he's an UFA and we can use the cap space.

Engvall and Kampf go hand in hand and won't be separated. The two of them have great numbers together but are utterly useless (mainly Engvall) when not paired together. I can't see them being split up.

Leafs TDL
Kampf sticks with Engvall, end of story. Those two are most effective when they're together. Their identity is a shut down unit, so it just makes more sense to have ZAR with them and Knies with Jarkrok. 3rd line vs 4th line doesn't really matter, it comes down to deployment.

Leafs TDL
I definitely agree, scoring depth is and has been an issue in the past - but I think it is largely an intentionally plan by Leafs management to have 2 scoring lines that are very hard to defend and 2 lines that are very responsible defensively and can shut down any opponent. Bringing Knies into the bottom 6 should add some scoring flair even as an unexperienced guy, and Jarnkrok is capable of chipping in some offense as well. I just think if the Leafs are going to make a big splash, it would be better to be a more impactful position than 3C.
