Amazing Draft
Obviously won't happen, but this would be so fun. The idea of trading up for Eisserman applies in general even if we miss Celebrini. Getting him plus Lindstrom or one of the D would still be a great haul

I'm fine with Debrusk, or any mid 6 forward in that range really. I think Stephenson gets more money froma. contender, probably won't be in our price range and that is okay. Nazar and EDM will get NHL time, maybe full time if they earn it but probably a split between both so they can fill up those games. Agree with signing a Vet RD, although I don't think we need Mete. I would just resign phillips. I agree that we should move on from Reece Johnson but I do still think Macker has a place here. I think Nazar can take the Stephenson spot and Kaiser/EDM can split NHL time next year. Overall I like more of the ideas here though. I wouldn't quite go as far as being .500 next year but I expect some natural improvement for sure. Love Demidov at 2, but hawks need to be bad enough to secure one last high lotto pick imo.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YeahRighttt</b></div><div>Kyle Davidson has showed this far no willingness to switch gears from using picks to build through the draft. He of course will at some point , when he feels confident that he has his nucleus in place. Nothing against Tkachuk, but the Hawks are a lot further away from competing than what he can bring, so the timing is not right to pull the trigger on this type of trade right now.</div></div>
I think we switch gears summer of 2025. Team should naturally improve a little bit going into next year, but hawks need to secure one more high lotto pick. If we snag one of Celebrini, Demidov, or Lindstrom this June and then another top 5-7 pick next year I'll be very good about this core personally

Hawks don't do that if it's pick 1 or 2, OTT doesn't do it if its below pick 2

I don't want to be guilty of being the delusional hawks fan who got too high on on one of his own guys after 2 NHL games, but man has Nazar looked awesome so far. Hawks second best player behind Bedard (I know that isn't a high bar), But the dud is noticeable on every shift.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Alright, so, most college players don't surpass a ppg, and most that do are either elite, riding the coattails of an elite player, or have really good chemistry with someone else and have been playing in college for 3+ years. While Brindley and McGroarty had all of last year to build chemistry, and played together almost exclusively this year (when healthy), Nazar put up just under a point per game mostly while running his own line being the sole chance creator with a rotating cast of linemates, coming off a major hip surgery and a whole year of lost development. Also, you could just watch him and the things he does, and how obvious it was that most of the other guys in Michigan just weren't on his level of IQ, vision, anticipation, and work ethic. Not to say that they weren't a pretty hard working team, but if you watch enough games you can see how often he would create these plays with no one there or ready to capitalize, or how often he would be in the most optimal positions and his teammates wouldn't even see him because they just weren't processing optimally or aware of their surroundings. He is an amazing skater, a great passer, playmaker, and shooter, dominates at the dot. And that is all just the offensive zone. On the defensive side, he takes responsibility and works hard in his own zone, he kills penalties, vocally dictates positioning on the ice, efficiently shuts down his marks, even those much bigger than him, isn't afraid to be physical and, for a small guy, is actually REALLY good at making and absorbing hits. Exudes confidence. And all of that has already shown in just his first two games in the NHL. The kid is gonna be a stud, an important part of the team, and a fan favorite, whether it is on the first, second, or third line.</div></div>
This guy you are responding too is a prime example of why you can't just look at point totals on elite prospects and call that a scouting report

Nazar definitely projects higher than bottom 6 lol. Already been incredible in his limited time on the hawks

I hope Korchinski works out but this is why I never loved that pick. At the time of making it we already had a decent idea that EDM, Kaiser, and Vlasic were all going to be pretty good. Of course nothing is guaranteed, but turns out all 3 are exceeding expectations too.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>lol. Well, I saw this player in the 6 games he played last year. I was making a prediction that he would become this, after a full season under his belt. It wasn't that crazy of a prediction, if you actually watched him play. He came right out of the gate, last year and the year before, doing things defensively that you just don't see many, if any, other players doing in the NHL.</div></div>
Fingers crossed the same translates with EDM. I've been high on him for years and he looked the part last night

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>Sure. I could argue that too. But it just isn't how negotiations work. But players generally want to help their team too. AAV is just an average. If they can structure the payment schedule in a way that works for all sides while also driving down the AAV, then it's a win win scenario.
Also, Before anyone else was saying it, I WAS THE ONE who first proposed a $6.5M x 8 year deal for him, and everyone called me crazy for it earlier in the season. Might've even been over the summer when I proposed that.</div></div>
I mean, respect, but over the summer 6.5M was crazy :lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>I didn't say I don't see it. But, generally, that just isn't how contract structures and negotiations work. Especially with young players who are not arbitration eligible. Again, by combining a bridge deal with a longer term deal they can BOTH pay him accordingly, while also driving down the AAV, thus driving down the cap hit. It helps him, his agent, and the team. It's a win win.</div></div>
See my above comment. I think Vlasic is playing like AT LEAST a 5M dollar dman right now

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>No way. Gudas just signed this season for $4M and he's 33 years old. Brodin signed at 28 years old for $6M 3 years ago. McDonagh signed at 30 years old for $6.75M 5 years ago. Slavin signed 6 years ago, age 23 at $5.3M which is probably the closest to Vlasic...6 years ago!
With a 22 year old on a long term deal playing at the level of those players today, and you're paying for future ability obviously and against a rising cap, those comps aren't going to land Vlasic. Player contracts are based on a % against the total cap obviously. When all those players signed the cap limits were lower and they were much older aside from Slavin. Not only would he NOT be overpaid at $5.2M next year...that would be about fair market value (at least in the ballpark), he would be way underpaid in a few years against a rising cap to boot.</div></div>
Vlasic is the next Slavin. this is the agenda i've been pushing, glad to see someone else also sees it
