Sujet: Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>Is Okposo or Girgensons going to be sold high? I get the impression they will be driven till the end of their deals. I don't see the benefit there if you can take a chance on a better piece.</div></div> <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lsendel3</b></div><div>He’s not though. Drop the KO retention, and maybe it would be a deal. With the retention you’ve made Monahan effectively a 9M player for next season (I know it doesn’t actually work that way, but my brain can’t switch that off)...</div></div> Great conversation, none of us can predict the future but we can look at the past to give us a clue.
Prior to this season Sean was playing with Gaudreau up to 70% of the time.
Now he is paired with Pitlick, Dube, Lucic, Lewis, Richardson who have a total of 17 goals among them YTD, contrast that with Gaudreau who has 15 on his own.
Add in that his ice time has been reduced every year since 2017-'18 from 19:01 19;03 18:06, 17:41 to 14:43 this year.
So inferior line mates coupled with a 25% reduction in his ice time has certainly handcuffed his offensive output (does this sound like Skinner?)
Those are certainly factors to consider why he could easily rebound in Buffalo.
No onto the trade, Over all IMO the trade favors Calgary even if Girgensons was excluded as Calgary is saving $3,000,000 while getting a player who could replace Sean and is a solid locker room guy.
On the other hand I think management will show respect to Okposo and not trade him.
He moved his family here when he was traded and silently suffered through 2 years of fourth line minutes playing for Krueger

Girgensons and Okposo should not be considered fourth line players this year.
They are both on pace to 17 goals. and each have as many goals as top line forwards as Suzuki, Kane and Hall.
Only 107 forwards have more goals than they YTD.

I think Monahan would be a good player to pick up, management may not want to move Okposo.
If Calgary was considering this and Buffalo was considering trading Okposo, then take Girgensons out of the deal.
Alternatively, trade Hinostroza for Monahan and Pitlick, as he has more goals than Monahan and Pitlick combined and this would save Calgary nearly $7,000,000 salary.

Bottom line, getting Monahan would be a great move, Okposo may take a home town contract in two years and retire a Sabre.

Well that is my tome for the day.
