<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>papishark</b></div><div>I think id only give up Merkley if Hall was resigning for lime 9.5, which likely wouldnt ever happen</div></div>
Value is close but Sharks would have to give up an additional pick (probably a 2nd pick) and a player for cap relief considering the Vegas had to give up Brannstrom (his trade value is higher than Merkley at the time of the Stone trade) and a 2nd round pick to get a signed Mark Stone.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Justahockeyfan</b></div><div>Mtl says no they wont trade their 2020 first</div></div>
Just because Montreal host the draft doesn't mean their pick is untouchable, especially with an unpredictable GM in Bergevin. New Jersey did this when they traded their 9th overall pick for Cory Schneider.

2020 1st is tradable (New Jersey did it in 2013) but getting rid of Romanov is probably the last time Habs would do because they really need help on the blueline.

Just because Montreal host the draft doesn't mean their pick is untouchable, especially with Marc Bergevin as the GM. Nothing is untouchable with Bergevin unless the player has a bad contract or NMC/NTC. In 2013, New Jersey, which was the host of that year's draft, traded their 9th overall pick to the Canucks for Cory Schneider

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Price_is_the_goat</b></div><div>stone is a great 2-way player, but he isn't a league mvp level player. stone is a 70 point player. hall is a 90 point player. brannstrom is gonna be a stud and ottawa was desperate. but of course, if we can get him for less than the price i offered, i got no issue with that.
also that undersized argument for d-men doesnt work any more. hughes, makar etc arent necessarily 6'2 220. they're small guys and elite d-men. hughes is only 5'10 and is an elite player already.</div></div>
Hall might have had better season than Stone thus far (including Hart season), he doesn't have the same trade value as in 2018. GMs <strong>won't give more than</strong> the Mark Stone package knowing that Hall doesn't want to remain in New Jersey. Devils could get a 1st round pick instead of a 2nd round pick. The only reason Ottawa didn't get a 1st round pick is because Dorion isn't a good GM.

it's like you're trying to revive the Nordiques-Canadiens rivalry with this kind of trade or trigger the Avs fans from AGM
then again...even IF the Avs wanted to get Price, Habs would've to retain a portion of his contract.
If they wanted to get an established goalie, they could sign FA Braden Holtby in the summer at a cheaper contract if the Caps think Samsonov is the next starting goalie....
On the other side, if Price can't do his job in Montreal properly, do you really think Keith Kinkaid or Charlie Lindgren would do a better job?

offseason
Leafs had to give a first-round pick just to dump a 1 year of Patrick Marleau.
Hawks are better off with keeping Seabrook for remaining of his contract because it'll be expensive to dump 4 years of Seabrook.

Trade with Min
As soon as the Habs' top players are having the horrible game(s), some Habs fans would hit the panic button asap and want to trade that player. I mean, remember when there were A LOT of fantasy Drouin trades.
Besides Carey Price has a NMC to his contract. If he wanted to leave Montreal, he wouldn't have signed to that massive overpaid contract 1 year in advance.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigOaf69</b></div><div>how is Kopitar nothing special</div></div>
Guy Carbonneau has 3 Cups and 3 Selke.
Kopitar has 2 Cups, 2 Selke and 1 Byng.
There's a chance Kopitar gets the HHOF call.
Kopitar might not be as good as Carbonneau in his defensive play but he has better stats than Guy. So this makes it pretty even.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chopper02</b></div><div>Not going to happen. A 30 goal guy for a defenseman who has been a healthy scratch on multiple occasions and doesn't play great defense would not be an intended target. Especially when SJ already has nearly 30 mil tied up in 3 defensemen where 2 of the contracts are looming horrendous right now.</div></div>
Timo Meier only had <strong>one</strong> good season of 30 goals w/ 66 pts. Other than that, he isn't living up to his contract <strong>thus far</strong> Can't release bring up the argument of the Sharks being one f the bottom feeder because the other Sharks are still able to produce despite the poor start of the season. (i.e. Couture, Kane, Burns, Hertl)
However, this is kinda arguable tho because Timo Meier is still very young player. I'll say it's pretty much like Alex Galchenyuk but Meier has more value than "Galchenyuk from after his 30 goals season"
